If you think this movie looks nothing like DB/DBZ you are purposely being close minded and blind. I am sorry, but it is true. There are several people especially, but I will not call names, who are being ludicrously close minded to the point of stupidity.
I still don't understand someone's frame of mind when they simultaneously refuse to acknowledge any opinion other than their own as being valid while condemning the people they're dismissing as being close minded.

I tried to think about it but my brain hit a redundancy loop, flinched and shut down.
I respect others opinions, but when someone says an opinion that makes no sense at all, like "This move looks NOTHING like db" is just ridiculous.

Even if the whole plot was changed and all the character names were changed, and none of the characters looked like who they are supposed to be, if the lead wore and Orange Gi, there was crazy fighting, and Energy Waves, it would still be "like" DB. Just because it isn't the same, doesn't mean it isn't similar.

That's my point. I hope you get it. People can hate the movie all they want, but to deny things that are clearly present just to have that opinion is stupidity.

My god is better than your god.

Anyway I have a cool set pic of Piccolo I'm posting up now... and for those who thought his green was CGI, this should prove you wrong.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Um, what? I wasn't preaching, your religious views are your own, I could care less. I was just making an example of why I think people are being ridiculous about this movie by putting it into a different situation.

I'll remove it if it makes you happy.

So, about that live action movie. The Day the Earth Stood Still opens today, so while I'm working I'll try to get a sneak peak at the trailers to see if its in there or not.

I'm still hoping that it will still premiere with the movie since it will in Japan...but probably not.

It's not reality. It's a fantasy film where people shoot Ki Blasts and fight demons who can blow up cities. DB doesn't translate into real life is bullshit. DragonBall is an action/comedy.

And I think that you're being too open minded. Ready to jump on the bandwagon at the slightest sign of resemblance. Like this:
Roshi is still Goku's master
Yet he doesn't appear to be himself. He looks like he'll be a stereotypical "Wax on, Wax off" Pat Morita. Not the goofy perverted man with the occasional real mentor moment.

Like I've said, I WANT an alternate storyline. From what I've seen I think the general story looks pretty cool. Gohan dies and Goku seeks out Roshi to train him and defeat Piccolo. That's AWESOME. I just want the characters I know and love to be themselves. Not sterotypical americanized, "Ally to good, Nightmare to you" empty characters.

Right because the meaning of life is a fabulous parallel to a Dragonball movie.

Just like comparing people hating furries to the holocaust.

I'm not jumping on the bandwagon, I have been pro the movie from the beginning, overtime I am now more in the middle. I realize there are stupid things in this movie, but I am not going to deny the similarities just because I want to HATE this move like some people on here. As I said, I have no intention of calling anyone out, but some people are just being crazy.

You mean you didn't find the meaning of life in Dragonball? It's to "Tackle life with as much energy as Goku!"

Geez. You're not even a real fan, are you!

Joking. I just happened to have Toriyama's closing message at the end of the VIZ tankoubon open as I read that.

I could have swore you liked that line.

Anyway, that's a perfectly legitimate request. If that's ALL you want, then maybe the movie won't disappoint and only the trailers will. Fox has to make non-fans interested in the trailers, then please the fans in the actual movie so sequels can be made.

Dragonball is something they've never done before, and as such they don't know how to promote it. I'll also admit the marketing for this movie is rubbish.

The only similarities are empty shells. A general concept. Dragon Balls. The name of Goku's master. The name of the characters. People are not just names, they are who they are. We all know who Goku is. Chatwin's Goku is not Goku.

I don't want names and a general concept. I want the characters. I'd be much happier if this "Teto" character acted like the real Kuririn. Then have a character named "Kuririn/Krillin" that acts like Bob Newhart.

I was just trying to make an example that denying that something could be good, without seeing it or knowing anything for sure, is just as stupid as praising something without seeing it or knowing anything for sure.

It's just the same things I have been saying forever, until you see it, you can't say whether it is good or bad.

And yes, we have the trailer now, but a trailer does not make the movie. As i have said before. I hated the Iron Man trailer. but loved the movie. I actually really like the Trailer for Twilight, but disliked the movie.

Me? Maybe back in the day. Not anymore.

I don't think so. Goku's shaping out to be that stereotypical feel.

...So how 'bout that Piccolo image? Y' gonna post it here, Jappo, or just on your site?

EDIT: Oh, there we go.

Damn, nice picture. First good, clear image of Piccolo we've really gotten.

Am I the only one in the world who doesn't find her attractive at all?

Jaimie Chung > Rossum any day, IMO.
Well...if she wasn't a drinking, partying, slut...

Emmy Rossum reminds me of a younger, gun-weilding, Morgan Webb :S

Ha, are there people who really say that? Geez, what shallow people, although I won't deny that I have watched the occasional movie on TV when nothing else was on just because there was a "hot" chick in it. But I would never willfully watch a movie just because of that, especially when there are good movies on.

I guess I should just ignore those people who are blindly anti-movie, but it's just my personality. Like when people said to me "Spider-man 3 is the worst movie ever!" I had to jump in and call them out and list examples of movies that are hundreds of times worse :D
