I'll bet it's untranslated on the home release, also.

Epic chanting sounds much cooler when it's not in English.

I have no idea what to expect out of Saiyan Blood on Wednesday.

Well, so was "Over the Star." Plus if it was a licensing issue, then wouldn't it have been completely muted?
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Episode 40 was great, Funi has really learned with the Kai dub that the yelling in Dragon Ball must sound cool. Or else you end up with the embarrassing DBZ dub with all those grunts and strains, may they rot in HFIL.

Also, dubbed or not, chilling elegy works so well both times it was used, just like the Ginyu song.

Seriously, Piccolo and the others all lashing out at Freeza, completely in vain, with elegy playing, just goose-bumpingly awesome.

The music not being dubbed could be due to not having the time, but will get to later. Know when the One Piece movie came out, the ending theme is undubbed on dvd, but heard the Bluray has it dubbed.

That is it would have been if it weren't for the piss poor animation. I have to wonder sometimes, how did that studio continue to put out such awful ("Triangle") looking episodes? How? Did they have less of a budget? Did nobody notice how awful their artwork was? Was the director friends with someone up top? Why did they have to be a part of Dragon Ball?

Kei17 says that it was his style, and that he, as a supervisor, had seniority over the vastly superior Kanno Toshiyuki who was a key-frame animator at Studio Live and did the much better animated scenes within those episodes (the crappy scenes were the results of Ebisawa Yukio's "supervising"). Here is his post explaining the triangle art.

Well, unlike the Z version, Kai had Chilling Elegy witch saved it. Plus the improved pacing, so we didn't have to put up with triangle crap for to long.

I don't know. That image he provided looks like it was done by the guy who does the "small face, no chin" art as I like to call it. Y'know the one. He did some work on DBZ episodes 68, 81, 219, and the original Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans to name a few. Does anybody know the name of this director?

Studio Live and Ebisawa Yukio are definitely responsible for all the shitty artwork in the series though.

Fucking awful. Makes me angry just looking at it. What a waste of good talent and resources.

My shitty season set caps don't make it any better.

No, it's clearly quite different. That image is from a Studio Live episode, and if you look, you'll notice that the Studio Live episodes have scenes drawn in this vastly superior animation style. Also, from Kanzentai's episode guide alone, I am pretty sure the artist you're thinking of is Shimanuki Masahiro.

Although, this shot you posted:

...was by Takeuchi Tomekichi, though they often (if not always) did work together in the same episodes.

Here's a couple more shots of Kanno Toshiyuki's animation:

That was a mixing mistake, nothing to do with "not having time".

The shots posted above, above are the caveman art style if I'm not mistaken. The other one is the really awesome one that isn't used as much. But I think that art style changed quite a bit throughout as the triangle crap and the last house styles did not.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

New episode link works now, however the video isn't loading for me. Weird. Oh well.

It works if you post the video on your Facebook profile. You can skip the ads that way, too. You can't watch it in fullscreen, however.

Oh hey really? >__>
Didn't know that.

I shall do that now

Edit: Saiyan Blood wasn't dubbed either. I'm sorta sad now. :/

They didn't dub the Vegeta song. Nor did they dub the random rock song at the end.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Hmm...no dubbed songs. That's too bad, though I'm sure they had their reasons.

I'm kind of hoping the lack of dubbed songs recently is a "rushed for TV" sort of thing, and that we'll get them dubbed on the home releases. That's happened before.

I hope it's that case, too. Because this is a really weird consistency :/

How many singing songs have supposed to be in the dub now? I can only think of three. Over The Stars, Saiyan Blood, and Chilling Elegy? Those are the only three that have appeared so far now, right?

The only one that has been dubbed is Over The Stars because I know I listened to it on my DVD. I hope the others get dubbed soon for the DVD release.

Also, the Ginyu song (which was dubbed), and Ultra Super Dragon Soul from the same episode as Saiyan Blood.
