On Goku VS Vegeta clips they almost show the beam struggle but they don't!
Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
I guess a women strutting around in undies is A OK for nicktoons.
Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
I really hope Gohan just yelling "LISTEN!!!" to Chi-Chi was a TV Broadcast line. It's a real shame when the Original Dub does something more accurately than Kai.

Oh yeah, Gohan was supposed to say, "SHUT UP!", right?
Maybe it was changed because you can't have children saying that to their mothers.

I think it's safe to say Gohan will tell his ma to shut up in the uncut dub. I don't think LISTEN would be harsh enough for Chi-Chi to label her son a delinquent.

One thing that I've always found weird/interesting about the edits is that I'm surprised with them, which is to say I've been surprised on several occasions with what they've gotten away with, and I've been surprised with what they deemed too objectionable. I'm surprised they still mention death and dying (albeit toned down), for example. Actually, I thought that the whole "Over the Star" scene where they pick up the bodies was going to be cut just like it was back in the Saban era.MR.Mark wrote:I think it's safe to say Gohan will tell his ma to shut up in the uncut dub. Then they go and do things like "LISTEN" and I'm like...really? You showed dead bodies being put in coffins, yet you can't have Gohan yelling "shut up"? Well, not that I care too much about the edits anyway. I was only going to watch the uncut English version on Blu-Ray until I heard Freza would be recast--WHICH IS TONIGHT, BY THE WAY!!!
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Dead or unconscious bodies get shown more often than you'd probably think, particularly in "action" cartoons like this. But the last thing they need is for impressionable youngsters to start imitating their hero Gohan by loudly ordering their moms to "SHUT UP!" It's kind of an understandable edit.

Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
I had to laugh when I saw part of the on-screen guide's description for today's episode: "Boredom gets to Bulma and she becomes an annoying companion in space."
As a fan-girl, I was disappointed (though not surprised) that Vegeta's nudity was edited. I mean, they showed Gohan's butt when he de-transformed from Oozaru a few episodes back, but I guess little boy butts are OK to show, while full-grown man asses are not. Guess Gokuu's nude Vegeta fantasy will be edited, too. Anyway, they put some (poorly drawn) blue spandex shorts (or were they supposed to be boxer-briefs?) on him. Didn't they give him tightie-whities in the Saban version? I guess they wanted him to look more stylish this time around?
On the other hand, Bulma walking around in her underwear was kept unedited, whereas the Saban dub changed her panties to shorts. It's all backwards!
I don't know if it was mentioned before, but I noticed in the previous episode that they're referring to the residents of Planet Namek as "Namekians" rather than just "Nameks" as they used to. Always found "Nameks" to be a bit strange, so I'm glad they changed it.
And the dubbed songs....will Chris Sabat be singing Saiyan Blood? And what are they going to do with the Ginyu song....that should definitely be interesting. As for the other songs featured that aren't sung by character voices (Chilling Elegy, Super Dragon Soul)....well, they'll probably just give them to Vic Mignogna

Tbh, I didn't see anything that needed editing on Bulma's attire. It may have been underwear...but it wasn't overly sexy/skimpy.

... Yeeeaaaah. Honestly, he was standing still almost the whole time too! Couldn't they have done something better than that?

It would have been a nice edit if the actually OUTLINED it.

Fuckin' shorts how do they work!?
Miracles...
Anyone have the Saban era censor of this scene, so that we may compare sexy blue underwear?

oh hi Youngster from route 3! *COUGHCOUGH* it's like they don't even care. Outline would rule, yeah.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
They are skimpy to the point of her arse cheeks hanging out a little though. Never mind the fact that a woman is struttin around in underwear in front of a five year old on a kids show (by US kid show standards of course), though they made sure the beer she drank was "fixed".Big Momma wrote:Tbh, I didn't see anything that needed editing on Bulma's attire. Didn't this same episode show a namekian corpse complete with no pupils slam to the ground at the end? Ah, nonsensical editing choices FTW.

Funny thing is Kuririn said a line about that in the manga. Almost word for word in fact.

I'm sure the uncut dub will retain his comment about her conduct.Coola Yagami wrote:MR.Mark wrote:They are skimpy to the point of her arse cheeks hanging out a little though.
