I'm so anxious for "Dragon Ball Z: Saiyan Saga - Ocean Dub (2013)" to hit Amazon.com but the wait is killing me, aw.
Region 1 (North America) Industry News & Views has nothing about this DBZ product release.
I'd rather much prefer this one to the old Pioneer sets which are now just available in used condition and for the price that they are, I would pay for this instead. COME ON!!!

Well they do have a thread
here. But it's based off AAA Anime's and Previewsworld information.
Here's another retailer for the list:
http://www.comixzone.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=MAR132299
Funnily enough Funimation's DBZ Kai Season 1 also contains 26 episodes. This makes it harder to decipher whether this is Ocean Kai or Pioneer DVD re-release.
Has Funimation released any recent DVD's with region 2 encoding? Checking on Amazon, they all seem to be region 1 and 4 only.

Hmm... Good point! I forgot that this is Funimation we're dealing with. They don't care about actual seasons or story arcs, so this very well could a "Saiyan Saga" that ends with them in the middle of the fight against the Ginyu Special Rangers.

Those are the exact two same boxes I have

How much are they asking for them? If I'm not mistaken I paid about 30 bucks for mine.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

The auction's price is still quite low at the moment.
If FUNimation can offer me DBZ Ocean Dub all 26 Saiyan episodes in a small DVD pack (like they did with DBZ Kai, One Piece, Soul Eater, etc) then I'd prefer that to this, although this looks highly collectible and somewhat awesome to own.

I do love it to death but dang if it don't take up room lol

I'd wait a bit buddy before investing in it. unless you just want it just to have it

even though I own them, I'll still be buying the new release just to have it

I'm bidding on those exact 2 boxes, already have the DVDs but need the slipboxes as mine are a bit tatty.
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force
If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure
If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me

The price has gone up quite considerably. I don't like to play bidding on items straight away, that's just false hope of "winning" later on.

''If'' this is real, I wonder how they're going to do the packaging? will it be discs on top of discs like our Dragon-box cases?
Talking about these DVDs has made me put mine in and watch em.

I'm really hoping that this new release is uncut and hopefully not edited together.

A more cost-effective method is taking a page from DBZ Kai Part packaging:
Amazon.com Gallery Pictures wrote:

Box with 2 DVD slim packs containing 4 discs each side.
Downside is, the box being made out of paper can suffer some damage by being torn while it's on the way to the customer's home address.
For those who're interested, here are the links of those DBZ Ocean Dub boxsets:

What do you mean uncut? If it's the Ocean dub, it's not uncut. There's about 14 episodes worth of material that was cut out.

Okay so 50 some bucks isn't bad for both of those box sets. I bought both for around 30

and I Agree dbboxkaifan! that would be a good packaging. Vegeta just sent Zarbon too ''brian drummond -the next dimension!''

I'm also having a hard time now believing that this is the actual cover.

Why would they put ''Dragon Dragon, Rock the dragon, Dragonball Z'' at the top? just seems odd.

Haven't we already talked about this?

''Uncut'' means there's blood, and certain things aren't cut out like punches ect

Haha yeah..I don't remember that second opening at all!

Rock the Dragon is the one I grew up with.

"''Uncut'' means there's blood, and certain things aren't cut out like punches ect
I know, the question was rhetorical. If it's the original ocean dub from 96/97, then it's not uncut.

That would seem to contradict "the original broadcast" which is all I really want.

I interpret
"uncut" as having no cuts, or being unedited. Anyway, as much as I'd like to watch full episodes of the Ocean dub for the first time in ages, I probably wouldn't pay more than a dollar per episode.
I agree that the cover art is bad. It's one of many reasons that I was skeptical of whether or not this release was legitimate. I assume they whipped out something as fast as possible to have a temporary cover image.
"Those transformations insane,
They wanna turn up hours late and steal the show from the pros who had to die for the name." - Yamcha (DBWTF: Z-Rap 3)
"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

Other things you guys seem to be missing other than the 'original broadcast' notice:
-It's using the original US Gradient DBZ logo Funimation used before switching to the more Japanese accurate one when they took over dubbing it in Texas.
-It's using the font 'Serpentine' -- well known on movies like Leathal Weapon -- just like the old Pioneer box.
All evidence says: This is a rerelease of the Ocean Dub.
My favorite movie henchman is

I was discussing this a week or two ago. I had commented to a friend that I hadn't seen that DBZ logo in years and was glad to see it on this boxart, and they had to go and compare it to what is used now... they had never noticed Funi used a different logo.
