What i am little worried about is beerus, he sounded little too stiff in preview!!! I hope i am proved wrong in actual premier though... He has little appearance in episode 1 right?[/quote]
Haven't rewatched the episode, but I don't think he appears.

I don't know why, maybe it's just the casual manner in which that was written, but there's something funny about reading that sentence out loud.Nightmare Wheel wrote:No, he is. It's that scene where he destroys half a planet because their food isn't up to his standards.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

As for who voices Beerus, it sounds to me like either Dave Mallow or Tom Kane. Tom Kane is the only reason that I can see this man using an alias.

All I gotta say on this matter is I'm excited. Regardless of the end quality, I'm always a sucker for comparing dubs, so I'm quite excited. Hopefully someone can provide us those sweet audio tracks.

And i requested him to record this dub only for this group because many people (I am sure who have supported DBS in many ways) were curious to hear how BZ dub is!!!
Don't worry its only sample 30 sec clip (uploaded in streamable) i linked and If people want to they can go and download it through his fb page if they want to, i won't post any direct download link here!!!
Lets agree on fact that there is no other way to watch this version if you are not from asia!!

Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
I quite enjoyed that. It was interesting hearing an alternate take on the series. Lex Lang's Goku felt a little odd at first, seeing as he doesn't really sound anything like either Nozawa or Schemmel, but I was settled in with it by the end of the episode. The rest of the cast were really solid, but I feel like Goten sounded a little girly...? Really looking forward to more of this dub.

Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
Okay. Who was said to play Kid Trunks? Cause that sounds JUST like Erica Mendez's Gon voice for Hunter X Hunter's dub.
LOVING Wendee Lee Bulma though, also Kaioshin/Narrator is David Vincent by the sounds of it. Gonna have to watch the dub alongside the sub to check out the translation differences. This casting though is just too perfect as a watcher of a lot of Bang Zoom dub's.

Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
I thought the dub was ok on first watch, most of the character voices worked although they felt a step down from Funimation's cast. Nonetheless, I'll be watching as much of the dub that becomes available and I look forward to episode 2 and hearing how King Kai and Vegeta turn out.

Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
Finished watching the first episode and I'm really impressed, this dub is fantastic so far!
I wrote down my initial impressions as I watched the episode;
- The narrator sounds great. It's youthful but avoids that annoying Nascar announcer voice that Kyle Hebert fell into.
- Goten sounds very cute in this version which is a nice change from Funimation's approach. The voice actress sounded very familiar but I couldn't quite figure out who played him until the very end. I'm now almost positive it's Wendee Lee because the voice reminded me of young T.K. from season 1 of Digimon.
- Absolutely loved Beerus' voice here, it's Probably too early to say for certain but I think I already like it more than Jason Douglas' version, it just sounds very God-like and isn't as nonchalant as Funimation's. I also noticed that he used the word "shattered" when talking about blowing up the planet. it's cool to hear creative language like that in a Dragon Ball dub for once instead of using the word "destroyed" for the millionth time. It might have just been a censorship thing but either way, I liked it.
- Whis didn't really sound any different from Ian Sinclair's version so nothing to really say here. It's a fitting voice at least.
- Videl's sounds great in this. I hadn't heard the actress in anything before Super's dub but she's very well cast here, I instantly took a liking to her voice and performance.
- Gohan sounds alright for now, the higher pitch of his voice definitely helps.
- Trunks sounds very cool in this dub. I'm pretty sure Erica Mendez is the actress playing him as the voice reminds me of Ryuko from Kill la kill.
- Wendee Lee's Bulma sounds more mature here. Not my favourite Bulma voice (Maggie Blue O'Hara is still my preferred voice).
- Master Roshi sounds decent. Nothing spectacular though.
- By the end of the episode I still wasn't too keen on Goku's voice but I think I'm getting used to it. Something interesting to note was Goku's pronunciation of Bulma at the end of the episode, the way he pronounced it sounded more like "Boolma" which caught me by surprise initially.
I'm definitely excited to hear more of this.

Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
Not bad.... Don't like Beerus at all. Goten sounds really off. Goku is alright. The rest sound FUNi lite. Really curious about Vegeta though then my hunger will be quenched until the Freeza arc.
Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
This sounds pretty good! Lex Lang as Goku has the potential to be the best English Goku. Love Trunks's voice. Beerus and Whis sound very cool. All in all everybody seems to try a combination of Funi's voices and the Japanese cast, which is understandable. Can't wait to hear Vegeta!

Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
I really like how cute Goten sounds. Roshi's all right. Chichi's good, Bulma's good. Goku's... odd. Beerus sounds fantastic. Whis sounds good too. Satan and Boo sound too much like funimation voices. Trunks' voice just sounds like a woman - not like a little boy. Narrator sounds good. All in all an interesting dub.
Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
That was fun! I guess I'll go in order... sort of?
- The script is a bit bizarre. It's overly literal in places, but then it totally misses the mark in others. The biggest example being Beerus' "I'll only take half" being changed to "I'll only blow up half of your world", or something along those lines. The alien replying, "Half of our world?" instead of "half?" ruins the scene, and makes him look stupid. Other than that, it wasn't horrible, though Goku saying "Love you both!" wasn't great.
- The narrator is really bad. He has absolutely zero heft, so it just sounds like those awful fan dubs where they're trying to imitate the pros.
- I don't really like Lang's Goku. It's lacking the childlike mannerisms that I think are important for Goku. Schemmel's got that side of the character down perfectly these days, so I find that much easier on the ears as a fan of Nozawa. Hearing a straighter performance doesn't quite sit right with me. I did enjoy the Bruce Lee yells, though.
- Goten is amazing. I mean, wow. I really, really loved his voice. That's the voice I've been wanting to hear in English for the longest time. Definitely much more enjoyable than whatever that nonsense is in Funi's rendition.
- Though I only heard a little of them, I actually think I prefer Beerus and Whis, here. Perhaps not, but the fact that Beerus' voice is very consistent is a big plus for me. I do like Douglas a lot, but he slips far too much for my liking.
- Gohan is fantastic. Again, much like Goten, it's a got a lighter sound that just nails what those characters are about. Couldn't be more happy, there.
- Videl sounds fine. I don't really feel too strongly either way, there. I actually quite enjoy Kara Edwards' Videl these days, so it'd take a lot to really push me to someone else -- you know, other than my #1 Minaguchi!
- Similarly, Trunks is fine. Tipton ironed out the scratchiness that I disliked about Bailey's performance, so I don't think there's really much to compare here. Both renditions are fine, for me.
- Satan's all fine, though less over the top than Rager. That's a running theme for this dub that I actually appreciate on the whole as I find Funi's work too exaggerated in Super, but in this case, I think Rager's take works better. Oh, and Boo is awful is both versions.
- Bulma sounds promising, but there wasn't really enough in there to judge properly. We'll see! Sounds like it could be good, though.
- Muten Roshi, Kaioshin, and Chichi are all okay. Pretty much what I expected, and not totally different from Funimation's take on things.
I'm not going to say that this is better than Funimation's take -- I think both have an equal number of flaws -- but I thoroughly enjoyed how natural Bang Zoom feels. It's less like an assault on the ears, but I do think that killed a couple of jokes. It'll be interesting to see whether the performances are a little more 'spiced up' as the show progresses; I imagine getting into character takes time.
I'm looking forward to the next episode. We've heard so many English Gokus in our time that another voice actor doesn't excite me much, there. Vegeta's not had quite as many, so I'm interested to hear another take.
Honestly, I'm still kinda blown away that I'm sat here comparing two English dubs for a Dragon Ball product again.

Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
Lex Lang is definitely a talented actor but with all due respect I do feel he may have been miscast. Even after watching a whole episode it still feels too much like a Winnie The Pooh voice for Goku, something that could have been saved for Botamo (although this could still happen it would feel jarring for Goku and Botamo to sound that similar). That said I will give his performance some time, it may well grow on me, I just need to see more of the dub first.
The one voice that I think was better than Funimation, at least in this episode is Chi-Chi, although, as has been said before Cynthia Kranz may have just had an off day so that could change.
Overall there is potential in all the cast and I look forward to hearing more from them.

If you had just watched the promo and said he sounds like winnie the pooh I wouldn't have said nothing but come-on man he was good as goku in this epsiode... Tonal similarities between him and gohan (chris hackney) really reminded me of Nozawa take on goku and gohan, I think that's one thing dub versions has never even tried so far!!Dragon Ball Ireland wrote:Lex Lang is definitely a talented actor but with all due respect I do feel he may have been miscast. Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
I think the problem you mention here comes mainly from the writers trying to match the lip flaps. Simply changing the line to "Half?" wouldn't have solved the problem because the character moves his mouth multiple times which suggests his reply is more than one syllable. The line needed to be extended either way but in this specific case Funimation's "half my lord?" is the more natural sounding of the two. I do think BZ's line could have been salvaged if the actor had changed his delivery to sound more shocked or scared rather than sounding confused. Though that's probably the fault of the director in that instance, not the actor. I think all of this falls too far into nitpicking territory though which I try to avoid. I personally had no problem with the "love you both" bit but I suppose some might have issue with it not being a very Goku thing to say.Ajay wrote: - The script is a bit bizarre. The Bang Zoom script isn't all bad though and I don't want to sound like I'm bashing it because the Funimation script sounds equally awkward at times, especially with lines like Videl talking about having a scholar as arm candy. My only real complaint in that area is that they could have dumbed down Goten's dialogue a little bit near the end of the episode (when he's convincing Goku to take the money). Other than that I found it okay.
