That's what made it great. It wasn't the acting quality of the voice actors or anything else. It was the jokes and the ease and fun feeling of the dub and of the people doing it that made it great.

As someone who hasn't really seen the Funi dub (Pre-Kai mainly) or can understand Portuguese...

Apparently both dubs added a lot of jokes to them, and that's not counting DBZ Abridged. Can someone explain the difference in humor between the three of them?

Dragon Ball is at it´s beast when it completely ignores and doesn´t give a shit about power levels and just focus in having an entertaining story and characters.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Same.

Am I the only one who had trouble with the Beam Struggles in Tenkaichi 3? I won every time in 2, both against the computer and other people, but could never win in 3.

I thought that Tao Pai Pai was the best villain in the Dragon Ball(not Z in) portion of the series.

Addendum to my unpopular opinion from earlier:

Been watching more of Super. I've gotten past the Freeza arc. Still enjoying it quite a bit. I have noticed they are padding it a bit... like, they don't have to worry about catching up to the Manga.... so why is there stuff here that feels like filler?... I felt like Vegeta was the voice of the audience at one point with his "Get on with it!" stuff lol.

But yeah, still really enjoying it. Not sure why it's getting so much hate.

I really like Super too, but I can understand why so many fans have a lot of issues with it. The show could be much more than it is, because doesn't seem to be interested into doing so. It really makes watching Super a bit frustrating for me, because it has the potential to be a really, really, really, good show, but the potential is squandered frequently with the show ultimately playing it safe. But to fair, the setting of Super does the potential expansion of the narrative no favours at all, unless they plan on going beyond EOZ and enter into GT territory, but that didn't work out so well the last time, so I'm not really shocked that Toei and/or Toriyama are willing to take that gamble. For what it's worth, the most recent arc, the Future Trunks arc, has been awesome so far.

-Gotenks did not undercut the tension during his fight with Super Boo.
-I've enjoyed every arc from Super, including the Resurrection F Arc.

You may disagree with this, but the reason I feel like Gotenks did not undercut the tension during the fight with Super Boo, was because I feel like Gotenks was a character the viewers was not supposed to take seriously. When we are first introduced Gotenks, he already did not take situation serious, even when Fat Boo was still around. Now, fast forward to when Super Boo wiped out all the human population (except from Mr. Satan, Tien, and Chiaotzu), killed Goten's mother, and ate everyone on the lookout, the kid still fucked around while fighting Super Boo. You might say, "He shouldn't have fucked around when the world was at stake"! That's true, but you also have to take into consideration of who Gotenks is composed of. First off, you have the arrogant and cocky Trunks, and the naive and simple minded Goten. Now, fuse those two together, and you have recipe for disaster. Like I said, you may disagree with my reasoning, and that is fine, but that is my take on the matter.

The one thing I missed from BT2 in BT3 was combining those Potara to unlock things. It was a fun little sort of puzzle that tested your in-universe knowledge of the series' mythos, and I thought that was Super cool.

Pretty much this. I mean lets not forget: one is 8 years old and the other all of 7. Gohan was much more of a timid, introverted, easily frightened, vastly smarter, and generally repressed child, but Goten and Trunks? Those are two VASTLY more "average" single digit kids in terms of their overall disposition: that disposition being two little hyperactive assholes with zero impulse control. Put the two together and you get the ultimate loud, snotty, undisciplined, id-driven, rambunctious little hellion. With literal Earth-shattering mystical martial arts skills at his disposal.

Gotenks was an absolute recipe for disaster right from the outset and a sign of how desperate the whole Boo situation had very quickly become. He makes perfect sense as a character in that regard.

Zephyr wrote:And that's to say nothing of how pretty much impossible it is to capture what made the original run of the series so great. I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Although it was a cool concept it had me completely confused when I was a kid. The game never indicated that doing that would unlock characters. I would have finished the story and would think "Wait a minute... how do I unlock everyone else?" It took me a while to figure it out.

There needed to be some middle ground though, because whilst it was cool that most characters started out unlocked in BT3 it also felt less rewarding.

I've been thinking of caving in and getting a couple of the Blu Ray sets mainly for the apparently superior Japanese audio and to enjoy some Bruce Faulconer cheese.

The Cell Machine is not more of a plothole than the entire time travelling is inconsistent. Trunks already did travel, the very first time he did time travel, to a branch that was not part of his own timeline. And not because of his own time machine appearing but because of Cell arriving earlier meaning the timeline was already split up and the moment Trunks arrived for the very first time he already did a time branch jump (the split already happened one year before). So Cell's Hope doing that jumping around is totally fine as well.
