NEP looks awesome, do I see Shida?
This is way better than anything he did before Future trunks arc imo. Even better than episode 56 imo.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Episode 65

Animation supervisor
Tate Naoki Ishikawa Osamu

Chief animation supervisor
Ide Takeo

Key animator
Tate Naoki Ishikawa Osamu Higashide Futoshi Ikai Kazuyuki Kawasaki Rena Ichino Maria Nii Hirotaka Kitamura Tomoyuki Nakaji Asuka Wakana Yoshinori Kizaki Yukari Sudarehata Yumi Sasakado Nobuyoshi Yamashita Megumi Hattori Masumi Sasaki Masahiro Uesugi Junji Morinaka Masaharu

2nd key animator
Mura Shuntaro Yokoyama Miyuki Tezuka Emi Art Box

That was probably the most Tate that he's managed to be since episode 26, and I loved it. I am a little disappointed that he couldn't deliver any lengthy cuts, but the effects work was outstanding. Just wonderful.

Definitely felt like quite a rushed episode, though. There were many, many instances of cuts being reused over and over. I was hoping it would lead to something huge from him, but I guess not. Looking at how colossal the staff list is, I think that says it all. Things are definitely starting to come undone a bit as we reach this arc's conclusion.

I wouldn't say Tate's art was any looser than normal, but many of his close-ups were corrected pretty heavily by the 2nd KAs. I was quite relieved to see some of him coming through towards the end. Upon rewatching the episode, I take this back. It was much rougher than his standard output.

Next week, though. Holy crap! Shida's back and there looked to be so much from him. Jeez. Madness!

I actually thought this episdode was pretty good for Tate. It's better than anything up until 38, for sure. (Besides the RoF cut.) Shida's there next week, bla bla bla... but do I spy Shiminuki?

I was literally just about to post this. There were a few shots in there that looked almost 1:1 with his work in the Boo arc.

Either that's him, or someone has gone and watched all of his episodes and stolen his style.

Seriously, 18 animators? Seemed like it was way fewer to me, I'm guessing for whatever reason this episode didn't get much time for animation. Either way next week looks like it could be the best looking episode of Super yet!

This episode was WONDERFUL.
I noticed that they did some quite nice impact frame when Vegeta and Goku transformed. Just like back in Z

66 seems a little early for Shimanuki to be supervising, but he could very well be doing some 2nd KA.

Wonderful episode with Tate doing his usual awesomeness. That NEP though.

THAT. FUCKING. NEP.

I've never been more hyped for next week before like this. Shida is gonna kill it.

It's almost certainly Karasawa supervising, I guess, but yeah, Shimanuki (or his impostor) is either doing KA or 2nd Ka.

Really good episode, I loved the Vegeta and Trunks GG scene. I liked every scene of Tate, and finally we have some real battle damage, although it is a little weird without any blood. NEP looks also amazing, I'm glad we are having Shida again, but one thing, shouldn't Vegito's outfit be a little different? That outfit was a fusion of Goku and Vegeta's clothes from the Buu Arc but now Vegeta is wearing something completely different, shouldn't it affect the outfit??

Edit: The scene of Vegito going SSB looks a lot like Goku's rage in a previous episode, and also reminded me a lot of Shimanuki, maybe he is working in this episode?
Also, I don't think that because there was a huge staff we are reaching the end of the arc, episodes like 50, 51, 56, 60 had a lot more animators than this episode, it seems that it was a rushed episode but it looked good at the end.

So it seems like Shida had about 8 weeks of prep time for his episode (EP65). Was that less time that what he had to work with when he did his cut in EP57 or more? I can't seem to recall.

I predict that's why Vegeta got battle damaged and they'll ditch the rest of the white armour before fusing.

Maybe, it is a good theory.

I just rewatched the NEP and I'm surer that Shimanuki is on it, I say it because of the shot of Vegito doing the teletransportation.

It'll actually have been 10 weeks from 57 to 66. We don't know exactly how long Shida had on his last cut, but it was a minimum of 7 weeks.

Wow, yeah. Shimanuki really is pretty much back in full swing with his character art. Whether he's animating or just providing 2nd KA remains to be seen. There's a beam blast cut in the NEP that looks like he animated it, but yeah, we'll see.

Either way, look at that!
Image
I have the utmost respect for him going back and reevaluating his older work in an attempt to improve his current art. It cannot be stated enough.

Shimanuki of course animated the original Vegetto fusion scene. I wonder if he'll be animating it again? That'd be really cool to see.
