They're sort of related, since Zuko is a descendant of Avatar Roku.

Considering that Aaang is almost a century older than Zuko, that's pretty much the closest you're gonna get.

The Cowboy Bebop movie is being closely supervised by Sunrise too. Makes me wonder why nobody official had a hand in the development of Dragon Ball Evolution.

NO! When the series creator has comments about your movie, you don't TRY to accommodate, you fucking DO. That quote pisses me off. And I like the movie.

I don't get it, I looked up "Roku" on google and all I got were loads of questions about some sort of digital video player. :?:

Because we're really, really unlucky? *Points to unfinished UUE releases, the use of the H-word, unreleased daizenshuu, "I can see their parachutes, they're okay.", etc.* The only well-known series I can think of that were unluckier than Dragon Ball are Sailor Moon and Yugioh....and maybe Cardcaptor Sakura.

I think he means Rei and Usagi Tsukino from Sailor Moon. In which case, yeah, I agree that pairing is annoying. I never saw what made their friendship so great, even.

Nope. AkuRoku, from Kingdom Hearts. The most infuriatingly annoying pairing ever.

They move letters around in each name instead of just putting the two together? That's odd and a bit too much work. o_O;

I never saw anything between those two both back when I watched Sailor Moon as a kid and when I re-watched the series a couple years back. O_o

I did hear about the one animation director who got booted off of Sailor Moon because he wanted those two together and actively worked to throw his own hints into the series; I also hear he went on to make Utena, but that last part is probably false--or I'm confusing him with someone else.

EDIT: Because I'm too slow when typing responses ^^;

OHHhhh...I was gonna guess Kingdom Hearts because of how rampant that series' fandom is (My second guess would've been Naruto), but I barely know any of the characters names that are in Kingdom Hearts. ^^;

I do know that people ship the Evil 13 Alliance of Guys who Wear Long Coats a lot though.
On hiatus.

Ok, so that's a bad example, I just don't want any of his plot twists :)
He thinks that just because it worked on one movie, it's going to work in every movie

Yeah. I love the games, but goddamn, I hate the fans. They're almost as bad as the Sonic ones. (Another series I love, but hate the fans of)

Sigh. They DID. Maybe not as directors, but they had as much say as most series creators. Sorry but is it that hard to believe Sheuisha and Toriyama didn't want any drastic changes?

JAPPO’s right. Writers rarely have any sway in Hollywood. Once the screenplay and/or property rights are sold, the movie is out of their hands—producers usually retain sole discretion in regards to creative control of the project unless the contract specifically states otherwise. At most the producers will keep the screenwriter (which wasn’t Toriyama in this case anyway) on-board to do rewrites… that they mandate.

In France they actually have laws that make it illegal for a movie adaptation to be made without approval from the original author. If only this movie were made overseas.

I was digging up in old forum's threads and I found this old DBE teaser:

http://www.movie-list.net/exclusive5107/dragonball.mov

There are a lot of footage in it that are not in the final version of the movie. But I mean a lot! It isn't even funny. :?

Actually, most of that stuff did appear in the movie, it was just an alternate take. The only thing that wasn't in the movie was the DB Goku picks up, that was either before they decided on the final look of the balls, or before they CG'd over them.

Check the article and some of the linked articles. http://www.cinematical.com/2009/01/16/k ... boy-bebop/

Sunrise said they wouldn't have even approved of the live action if Keanu hadn't gone to Japan HIMSELF and expressed interest in playing Spike.

I don't care what they say, who went to Japan, or what Japan thinks. I just want to know if it's a good movie.

Dragon Ball Evolution is bad, and may or may not have any author approval. I don't know, don't care.

Alan Moore hates most of his comic adaptations. They tend to be the best comic to film adaptations I've ever seen, and his opinion isn't going to spoil the films for me. In this same regard, I don't care what Japan does. If the film is good, then I'm happy.
