Well this arc could be easily be separated in two: the recruitment part and the actual Tournament. I think it actually will be split in three with the third part being the aftermath of the tournament and its consenquences.
I predict 40 episodes in the total.
I'd say so far this arc is 3 arcs.
Zen Exhibition Arc, 77-82
ToP Recruitment Arc, 83-96
Tournament of Power Arc, 93-
I feel like the recruitment and the zen exhibition are different enough to be considered separate if we separate this arc into multiple arcs.
I think the Universe Surivival Arc as a whole will end in October or November, then the next arc will start in January or February and it will also be the only main arc for the year it comes out.

Well... no, since those episodes don't make the arc shape of a complete plot, but I get the idea.

I believe the tournament is just the beginning. There is a more sinister plot brewing in the background, it seems to me...

Well thats what a lot of people thought about the Universe 6 tournament. I saw so many theories about Vados being the main villain of the arc. But it was just a tournament. I could be wrong, but I don't think I've seen anything that hints at any sinister motives.

For a show like
Super, which has a very fixed plot, unlike the older material, I wouldn't bet on it. Also, while it would be a fun turn of events, the last few episodes have actually gotten me pretty interested in the tournament. I'm kinda at a place where I just want to see a bunch of badasses beat the shit out of each other for a while, hopefully with plenty of creative animation in the mix.

I feel the same way. The TOP will most likely go off without a hitch. But it wouldn't surprise me there would be a lot of drama to keep us on out toes in the upcoming episodes.

I'm certainly not betting on it, but I will say I never got the impressions that the U6 tournie had anything more to it. I always saw it as merely a precursor to something larger, and it turns out I was right. My prognostication has been nearly 100% on point thus far, though of course that means hardly anything with a show like Super. I actually think all the arcs are going to be pretty heavily tied together into a grander picture. Nothing intricate or deeply meaningful (hope I'm wrong here), but
something more.

I think it will lead to something bigger based just on the episode count scenarios. If it's a straightforward tournament of '48' mins, how much can they pad and stretch it really? 10 episodes? 15? I don't buy that they made new opening that's heavily focused on this arc only for the arc to last no more than ~30 episodes. Toei's too cheap for that

5 minutes on Namek?
These ppl move at incredible speeds. 48 min is more similar to 48 hours in a fight. Lol

I really do hope this tournament reaches it's conclusion. I would hate for it to stop short for some reason. I really do just want to see it in it's entirety.

With guys like Zeno and the Great Priest standing around. Who could really be bad-ass enough to stop this tournament. I don't see this tournament not going through to the end like the U6 did. The Zenos would wipe out anyone who dared interfered.

Even though I don't think the tournament will be interrupted but it doesn't have to be one guy/gal to interfere it can be multiple gods and angels plus we know about that mortal who's stronger than any god of destruction I think there combined strength and hex would be enough to be a threatening

I dont think Whis said any God Of Destruction....just that there was one stronger than the G.O.D in his own universe who also happened to be stronger than Beerus.

Don't be surprised if the tournament itself is 10-15 episodes long. Remember, the Buu saga was just one day and we see the crazy sequence of events that occured in that 1 day.

Ok I give you that but I was reading between the lines because he was making it a big deal about a god of destruction being stronger then beers

The preview answers this. Sidra attacks Freeza since the assassin plot failed. Freeza seems to have no trouble with the assassins, but at some point Sidra gets personally involved as he clearly sends a Ki blast towards Freeza through one of the main assassins. Since most of them are fodder, Freeza would go after the source of these attacks. He is shown to be talking through the U9 orb, so he will know Sidra is behind this.
Yes, it really looks like Sidra will attack Freeza.
However, we can see that when that sphere of energy forms, in front of the God of Destruction, his hands are down. So it does not seem that he is creating that sphere of energy.
This was strange because, it does not seem to be an explosion that the crystal ball is showing because it expands to a much larger size, besides being outside the white table (of which that crystal ball was)

And does FujiTV's previews really sensationalise common episode events?

Yes. Herms doesn't bother to translate them because they typically reveal nothing new. It's a common advertising ploy to get people excited for the episode.
