^.^; I think he meant Season 3 and on. He was the only one who didn't redub his lines when they re-released those episodes on the Orange Bricks. Which, to this day, I claim is a mixture of money, availability, and apathy.

Hehe yes, that is exactly what I meant. Sorry if I wasn't clear, jjgp1112.

And did they have to fly him out from NY at that point? I think he moved there by then.

He did mention in the Kai interviews, when he first heard about Kai, he thought they were going to do the same old, same old, and get bitched at over it, but really got excited when he learned how much things had changed. So, maybe a bit of Apathy was the case.

Edit:

Here, the first part of part four of the video.

He was, to a degree, getting tired of the old way of doing things. And it makes sense. Some fans are happy; others, though...not so much. So, this is a shot for him to bring his improved acting skills to a more accurate depiction of a character that changed his life.

I still prefer Nozawa to Schemmel by far, but the guy has made strides, and that can't be ignored, even by me.

How would that be ironic? Perhaps some stretched coincidence, but I fail to see any irony.

Indeed. A case of it being ironic would be something along the lines of... Hmm... If Steven Blum were to say "Man, I really hated voicing this Gokuu guy, I don't wanna ever do another role done by this Nozawa chick", and then move on to do Guilmon, and say "Hey, this is fun!"

Aaaaaanyways, moving off of the topic of Cowboy Bebop which I kinda ended up sparking off (more as a warning to those who are so bloody-minded about dubs to say such comments as "Cowboy Bebop is the ONLY anime you're allowed to watch dubbed". No messin', that really was said, verbatim).

Hmmm... Is anyone else really looking forward to the fourth volume of the Kai DVDs? I mean, I already want the third volume, for the glorious Chris Ayres performances. A pity that I have zilch money to spend on getting the second volume of the DVDs, let alone getting it and the third one.

Maybe I should have been more clear in pointing out the situation of saying he can't fit one role, when he shares role with the seiyuu of said role in another role. But, whatever, I'll just chalk that one up to exhaustion.

And I'm looking forward to seeing how things were changed from the uncut dub.

I happen to have LESS then zilch to spend, however, if need be, I'll sell a kidney to hear Chris Ayers as Freeza with an uncut script.

Yay!!! Shorter wait than I originally expected. I totally would have called it for May. A three month wait between the releases is just about right. The one disappointing thing (unless the runtime is inaccurate) is that this set will cut off the last two episodes of the Goku v. Freeza battle. I really hope that's not the case. Consistent numbers of episodes in each set be damned; there is no reason this one set can't be 15 episodes instead of 13.

Well, the first set was only 13 episodes, and the Vegeta stuff had to be finished off on the next set, even though there was only 3 episodes to go. But, hurrah, a DVD at that time gives me time to hopefully squirrel something away for that.

Kendamu wrote: That's why I'm glad we're getting the Kai dub. It fixes a lot of the problems I have showing DBZ to people and I'm comfortable watching it in either language. It makes for a good time all around and I don't have to explain parts of the series that influenced parts of the movies (like what the Kaiouken is or who Kamesen'nin is). Give me 60 minutes and you have a dead Goku and a new fan.
Instead you'll have to explain why everyone can randomly fly, why Gohan has a tail, who Piccolo is, etc.

I don't see why the beginning of the Saiyan arc is supposed to be such a good place to start for beginners.

The prologue explains everything essential that occured in DB that is relevant to Kai. It explains who Piccolo Dai Mao and Ma Junior are, the flying technique is explained, etc. Far better than Saban's efforts to make Z its own show.

Is an awful place to start really.
At least with Kai we have a very brief recap of earlier stuff.
It aint perfect, but at least its there.

Hardly.
XanatosVanBadass wrote:It explains who Piccolo Dai Mao and Ma Junior are
"Some demon Goku defeated once". That's... not nearly enough. His relationship to God isn't touched upon in the slightest, so all you're left with is "he's evil, grr".
XanatosVanBadass wrote:the flying technique is explained, etc.
No, it isn't.

All the prologue says is "Goku met Bulma and went to find wish-granting Dragonballs. He got strong, and then he beat up some demon named Piccolo and got married. Wee." Are you really saying that sums up all of Dragonball?

It also explains that Piccolo is the clone son of Piccolo Daimao, and that Goku defeated him in the last martial arts tournament.
But I agree with you that it is hardly sufficient in summarising Dragon Ball.
But its better than nothing right?

Compared to "Piccolo is the evil side of God, and their lives are connected to each other, as well as to the Dragonballs which were made by God, so if either of the two die, the other does as well, and the Dragonballs stop working", "Piccolo is the reincarnation of this other dude Goku beat" is a minor trivia point. And that's the one they choose to give us.

"Goku beat the Red Ribbon Army at one point" is a more important plot point than Piccolo Junior being a reincarnated Piccolo Daimaou as far as "Z" is concerned, and they don't bother bringing that up either.

As far as explaining the flying goes...I don't really think that needs to be explained at all. Lot's of people fly in lots of different cartoons. It works fine just as its own "Super Power".

I think it totally needs to be explained. It's always one of the first things I hear ragged on for sheer "random bullshit" when it comes to DB.
