Definitely. Which is why I find it such a shame that it seems many viewers prefer more mechanical designs.

I think the reaction to Pokémon's new designs says it all, really. While the fandom was throwing a fit over them, the animators I follow on Twitter were praising them like nobody's business.

Although I actually enjoy Yamamuro, I'd prefer Karasawa as character designer. I like Tate's animation but don't want him as character designer.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Staff are up!
Image
#66
Script: Atsuhiro Tomioka
Director & Storyboard Hatano Morio
Animation Supervisors: Yuichi Karasawa & Masahiro Shimanuki

#67
Script: Atsuhiro Tomioka
Director: King Ryu (the kana actually says "Queen Dra", but I kinda just assumed that's an alias)
Storyboard: Takao Iwai
Animation Supervisors: Hiroyuki Itai & Yui Kinoshita

#68
Script: Yukinori Fukushima
Director: Hatano Kohei
Storyboard: Masanori Sato
Animation Supervisors: Tsutomu Ono & Yukihiro Kitano

#69
Script: King Ryu
Director: Masanori Sato
Storyboard: Hideki Hiroshima
Animation Supervisors: Koji Nashizawa & Shuuchiro Manabe

Hiroyuki Itai was a key animator on episode 2 of Super and for Resurrection 'F'. Interesting to see him in a supervisor role.

Good to have confirmation that it is indeed Shimanuki's corrections/work in the NEP.

Hatano Morio making his return for the big episode is very exciting. He hasn't done anything since episode 14... You know, aside from being the mysterious series director.

Based off of this I would assume we have a good bit of action/story left. Especially with the return of the fabled Nashizawa and uh... Tsutomu Ono? Has Ono worked on Super before?

Morio Hatano is directing/storyboarding the next week's episode. Next week will definitely be great :)

I've only bothered to translate the supervisors so far, but I'll update with the rest soon enough:

#66 - Yuichi Karasawa & Masahiro Shimanuki
#67 - Hiroyuki Itai & Yui Kinoshita
#68 - Tsutomu Ono & Yukihiro Kitano
#69 - Koji Nashizawa & Shuuchiro Manabe

Hiroyuki Itai was a key animator on episode 2 of Super and for Resurrection 'F'. Interesting to see him in a supervisor role.

Shimanuki on 66 after 61 was so recent is a bit worrying, but the NEP is keeping those worries at bay for me.
Hiroyuki Itai with Yu Kinoshita will be interesting, that will be one to keep an eye on for sure.
6 weeks between Kitano's episodes is also a bit worrying, but hopefully it won't be an issue.
Really looking forward to 69, I love Manabe and am glad he seems to have straight up joined the staff and Koji Nashizawa seems like he could be a great supervisor.

These staff listings make me think the fight will still be going into 69, hopefully they have the animators for it if that's the case. No Yamamuro still, very, very interesting.

Shimanuki and Karasawa on one episode is mouth watering.

Okay, I translated the rest.

I think you guys may be right in that the fight may last for quite a while. I guess 67 and 68 won't be all too special, but 69 could be quite good.

No idea who's actually going to be around to animate, but whatever. We'll see. I'd like to see Tate with Manabe again.

Exactly, the simpler designs approach i believe adds for much more creativity.

The simpler designs allows for a more fluent and abstract style that may not be on-model but, flows smoother. This is something I definitely noticed during the beginning of the series. At first, i wasn't a huge fan of it, I much preferred and, still do the art of Dragonball Z. Dbz didn't necessarily have the best animation, but what it lacked in animation it made up for in art. Now i'm a much bigger fan for Tate and can appreciate the stylistic animation.

King Ryu directing an episode is quite disturbing. :eh:

I actually just edited my post to clarify that.

The kana says "Queen Dora". I'm just making a wild guess that that's actually just King Ryu going under another pseudonym as a director.

Well 67 is Wanpak, so hopefully they can brute force a nice, but conservative episode, kinda like 44. I'm definitely a bit worried about 68, but 69 will probably be pretty cool.
Hopefully we have some good animators with each one and they aren't blowing their load by putting everyone they could get on 66. Karasawa, Shimanuki, Shida and Otsuka will make 66 something spectacular, but I could see maybe one or two surprise animators on 67, Yamamuro coming in to make 68 at least a solid episode and then *fingers crossed* Yuya Takahashi and maybe another great animator come in to close out the fight in 69.

Kitano for 68 ? I hope that he doesn't handle the action sequences. Don't know anything about Tsutomu Ono though ? Has he worked on Super before ? I hope is pretty good.

These upcoming episodes have lots of potential; but I'm still worrisome about Kitano's episode.

He was a supervisor for 60, I have no idea what his actual abilities or style are though.

Apologies as this is about the writer for #69, but isn't King Ryū the one who gives us the serious, focused Goku, or am I mistaken?

I hope the action ends with 69, that would give us a nice beefy fight and then 70, the first post action episode, could be soloed by Yashima and he'd have 6 weeks for that episode which is pretty normal for him.
I hope Tsuji pops up as an animation supervisor a few episodes after the fight since Ide is seemingly taking the role of chief supervisor by himself now.

Heh, I'm an idiot. This just clicked with me.

It's actually Queen Dra. As in 'dragon'.

King Ryuu... Ryuu meaning dragon.

This sneaky guy!
