penguintruth wrote:(Wait, what do the subtitles on those releases call him?)
I can't say for absolute certainty since my DVDs aren't on me at the moment, but I'm fairly sure that the Double Features release called him 'Coola' in the subtitles. Looking back over notes I'd made when I was doing reviews on the Japanese version...
It sounds like Nakao is using a deeper voice for Cooler, though you can still tell it's him.
I have that early in the notes on movie 5, but then a little further in -
Oh, right. It's Coola here. Time to start using that name instead.
- which means I probably didn't get to his name in subtitles up to that point (or just hadn't noticed it), so I made a note to start using that (since I tried to use the subtitled names as much as possible during this. So it had to have had 'Coola' in the subtitles.

It would be great if the same had happened with Coola too.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I could see Goku being Goku and calling him Coola instead of his "proper" name; it'd work.
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)

That's actually something I thought of a few weeks ago. I'd die happy if it came true.

Yeah, I mean, Jesus, there are some people that are
still throwing fanboy strops over it, saying, "Oh my God, his name is
Robotnik! Not "Eggman", that's a freakin' stupid name!" Despite the fact that "Eggman" is actually the original Japanese name for Sonic the Hedgehog's infamous archenemy. As a Brit, I grew up with "Robotnik", but I eventually just switched to "Eggman" because it was the original. Obviously, that's not how it goes for
everything, but whatever.

Lately I've been watching TFS's Make a Man Out of You a lot. Although it's clearly meant to be funny, I think it actually suits that part of the series a lot and is sort of emotional. It makes me wonder what DB would be like if, instead of just having insert songs, it actually featured the characters singing songs like in a musical like this sometimes. The temptation to start a
very unusual fan dub is creeping up on me

Orang Star High School Musical?
Dear God, what have I just wrought?
Featuring a solo performance by Nappa confessing his love for his alien pet that he accidentally killed.
MasakoX actually has a pretty good singing voice.

Cooler Abridged is here!
I enjoyed this one. The beginning was a bit slow, but I absolutely loved Cooler by the end. The part with the bird was nicely done as well, I always thought that scene was weird as hell.

That was pretty darn good. I think I still like Lord Slug Abridged better though. High hopes for Movie 6, eventually!

I think it didn't pack as big of a punch as the previous specials, but it was good enough. Can't wait for the next one!

I can't call it awesome, but it was good. I've seen better episodes, but anyway.

Haha! Goku: Well I assure you, if I ever have a son. I'll treat him better.
And Goku wanting Icarus was hilarious.
