It just seemed like Toriyama was attempting to simplify the transformation system, so bringing back SSJ would be at odds with that. There's also the issue that the "SSJ Blue" form doesn't even have a proper name in the anime, so I'd expect that to be established at least before they start switching forms.Sandubadear wrote:Yeah, it's not like Toyotaro didn't have time to ink the hair either, it's a monthly manga. Besides, I don't think the lack of shading is necessarily a "mistake". It wouldn't be the first time that something is redesigned like that. SSJ itself changed a lot after its first appearance. Maybe after seeing how the animators executed SSJ Blue he decided against the shading?
