Goku couldn't win using strength so he used his brain instead which Piccolo will hopefully do as well.
Except Frieza didn't have any obviously weaknesses like Gold Frieza, he was just outclassed when Goku beat him the first time.
Maybe Frieza's race suffers from low stamina issues.

One thing that I could think is that probably Goku injured Frost a lot before his defeat, thus decreasing Frost BP highly and his speed, leading Piccolo to have a chance to believe in the unbelievable.

The stamina/injury idea is one that could work.

If Toriyama wants Piccolo to win a match, he will.

I'm not crazy about that idea. Having Piccolo win just because Goku practically secures it for him. I'd prefer the outsmarting route even if I don't really see how the hell Piccolo is gonna even pull that off.

That's what I would prefer too, if possible. It would be impressive for sure.

I want to ask some folks, since I think the Piccolo situation is going to stir rage from fans either way: what would you like more? To have Piccolo win, thus kinda screwing with the power levels, or have him job, making the whole tournament setting kinda pointless? I for one don't care about power levels and I hope Piccolo wins. I don't want to see Vegeta or Monaka get three fights (two for each is perfect for me, one win, one lose), since that would get boring.

Have that Book of Legends actually amount to something (otherwise why even mention that, seriously, has no one writing Super heard of Chekhov's gun?) and do some crazy training, get strong and win a fight from start to finish based on strength & skill would be the best scenario.

Since Piccolo can't get a power up for whatever reason, I'ma say have him outsmart Frost at the very least. So his much hyped intellect actually shines through in actual combat for once.

No one's talking about the first match? Because I thought that was interesting. Botamo was immune to his attacks, but Goku was still stronger, so he just threw him out of the ring. It kind of reminded me of Buyon. Immune to attacks, so you have to find another way to win.

The second match seems very fanservice-y, but it also seems kind of self-aware. It's at least making fun of the somewhat lack of creativity. Also, interesting that they mentioned Goku has never seen Freeza's third form before. That was a nice touch.

As to the whole "did Goku go regular SSJ?" I'd say yes. It makes sense. He's not permanently a god now. I mean, in Super, Goku's ki only disappears when he goes SS Blue, so presumably the god ki is something you consciously have to 'turn on'.

And as to why he'd use it...I'm expecting Frost to catch him off-guard or something. Not in the RF way, but just in the "Goku holding back is backfiring because Frost is stronger than he expected". Like, if he had used his full power from the start, he would have won. And that's how Piccolo can win.

It's actually kind of interesting, how quickly they're getting Goku out of the way. I have no idea what they're doing with the other characters.
I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

Damm that fight against Frost is master. It reminds of Goku vs Cell when they both uses their speed! (Anime version) I just hope... hope Super wil make this fight very very good.

Was Goku ssj or not? Did Vados say this wasn't a regular ssj? Maybe Vados knows ssj blue in uni 6 and now is suprise when seeing regular ssj?

But why would Goku use ssj? Something happen in time Chamber but what?

Yeah, Vados said this isn't a regular/simple/straightforward Super Saiyan. Not sure what that entails, but to me it seems like the Golden Haired form.

I think SS Blue is when Goku floods the Super Saiyan form with God Ki. That would mean that Goku still hasn't used his God Ki in base form.

Ok, so how does this shit even work?
Frost defeats Goku so that would mean Piccolo is next to join in the fray. Bad panel or two of him Removing the turban and cape to get down to business, with the next page declaring Piccolo has been ring outed by Frost. Frost having basically one shotted him into the Super Dragon Balls hanging in orbit without so much as batting an eyelash. Then it's Vegeta's turn
He devolved into saying only one word. Time to hit the ol' cosmic trail.

If Piccolo wins, I'm thinking it'll be a combination of strategy and Frost being weakened. Probably Frost was weakened to the point where Piccolo can keep up and Piccolo will use the Makankosappo to force Frost into dodging, then he'll knock him out of the ring or something.

It had to be SSGSSJ, it'd make absolutely no sense for him to go regular SSJ, or else he'd have probably done by it by now, against Frieza, or during training, but all of a sudden he just reveals he could've done all this time here? Plus, as much as they've been promoting SSGSSJ, and putting it in promotional material, I don't they would just go back to the old transformation. I think they just didn't bother shading it, and are just referring to it as SSJ, because it's now simply replacing the blonde form for good, plus it's easier to say and he could've just forgot to shade it. And it'd just be straight confusing(like it is now) having both of the forms being used, since the only difference was light shading in the hair. That just makes more sense, but we don't know for sure, so I guess we'll just find out in the anime.

But I have a feeling Goku vs Frost will be a pretty even match, but eventually Frost will come out the winner. And by the time he faces Piccolo, Frost will just be worn out, or maybe downgraded back to a previous form or something. While it may still be one-sided, Piccolo may still stand a chance, but will still have to resort to the Makankonsappo. Still I don't care if he wins or not, just as long as he puts up a good fight.

I enjoyed the Botomo fight, and kinda wished they'd done more with it. It was something different than normal, and wasn't just about power. Judging by the episode titles, it'll be pretty short in the anime as well which sucks. He seems like an interesting character though, I'd like to see more use of him. From what we saw, I wonder how else he could be defeated in a serious battle, since he seemed to shrug off every attack and didn't feel anything.

I'm thinking Hit vs Monaka will be the last fight. I'd like to see it, and even though I think it could be an awesome match, It's weird they'd make the final battle between two brand new characters, and I still think something big will happen.

Freeza should have worked on his cardio. Then maybe he wouldn't have get gassed so quickly.

Piccolo might of used the namekian book of legends when he got revived but maybe he has not mastered it or something. He also trained with Gohan and maybe Whis done something with him, no one knows yet but one thing I am sure about is that he won't get one-shotted and will put up a decent fight before his Special Beam Cannon. His Special Beam Cannon might have got stronger maybe using more fingers or something.

There's nothing even foreshadowing any kind of increase in strength for him from the book or that he's even remotely bothered investigating any means of attaining lots of power in the recent episodes. Hence why so many people are writing him off as a dead man walking in a pure fight.

I always thought that Freeza's transformations prior to his Final Form was always his own little ingenious way of managing his widely high power. Now that Frost can do it, it just makes me think that really all of Freeza's race has several transformations under their belt. Or maybe Frost, much like Freeza, just created those forms to manage in uncontrollably high hidden power. I'm hoping it's the latter, because at least then it will retain that unique characteristic feature Freeza had of being a freak of nature in being born ridiculously strong and having the micromanage his power.

Platinum Evolution Frost smashes this deer caught in the headlights with time to spare. It's a foregone conclusion at this point.
