This. I want to bask in the glorious quality.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

The Japanese Dragon Box releases for Z were only split in two. One with Goku on it, the other I think with Cell IIRC?

The first FUNi box corresponds with the first Japanese set. Since it's getting split into seven however, what's the art going to be like on the other five sets?
What other art came with the Dragon Boxes?

There's artwork for Freeza, Cell, Piccolo, and Vegeta..

7 sets is perfect since it was in 14 cases.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

IIRC, Dragon Box Z Vol. 1 had that image of Goku, along with Kuririn and Freeza (first form). At the same time, Vol. 2 had Cell (first form), Vegeta, Piccolo, and Super Saiyan Goku.

That's seven images, but who knows?

Haha... Wow. Four responses of basically the same thing.

First one also have Freeza on it. So they can use that image. I'm sure there's a SSJ image of Goku on Dragon Box Vol. 2. Those are some options. I can imagine a quality illustration of Buu, Cell, Freeza, Gohan, a SSJ, and another character will be the images used--> Fusion perhaps?

I've gotta be honest. I'm not a fan of the Dragon Box Art. Never liked it, I think it looks weird and sometimes not a whole lot like the characters. Kind of like some of the One Piece movies where the characters look off. I actually liked the Season Sets art a lot better.

Nice analogy.

For all intents and purposes, I think FUNimation SHOULD just phase out their lame dub "music" like they did with the GT rap. No difference, really. It's a shame that it even exists and was allowed to attract fans in the first place, since practically every other dub in the world used and uses the original, intended, superior music from the get-go. Even if a total re-dub never happens, FUNimation should take every effort to make their dub as good as it can be.

They'll probably start using Kanzenban images. I can see Vol. 3 using this image as the cover:

As for boxart, what are the chances we could also get art from the DBox Singles too?

The only reason the GT rap was phased out was because of lack of alternate angles. It was still in the TV special. A lot of people happen to think that the dub music is also high quality, too.

Ugh, I go away for a while and come back to a royal shit storm... :x

First off, if you're concerned about multiple dub tracks, then you don't really understand what this release represents. As they said, this is for the hardcore (read: Japanese version) fanbase. Now I'm not saying dub fans aren't hardcore as well, but look at the product their marketing. They're actually advertising the credits! Yeah, the complete kanji credits for every episode. For how long now have the dub fans been clamoring to read a wall of Japanese text? Yeah, didn't think so...

You do also realize that the chance of getting multiple angles is pretty much zero as well, right? Will you complain because the title card is in Japanese with subtitles only? Will you complain that the DragonBall Z logo in the opening is the Japanese version?

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind if they do add this stuff, but for this release their focus will almost certainly be on the quality of the Japanese masters (of which this entire set is centered around). If this means cutting unnecessary FUNimation fat, then that's just too bad.

Please bear in mind, this is an R1 Dragon Box release. They could have just slapped subtitles on it and be done with it and it would still live up to the advertised standards. Last I recall, the English dub was a 30 second clip on the extra features disk.
The complete DragonBall archive...Believe.

That's what I was thinking they may only include as a dub option with this set, since, as it was the default on the last release, the "Dub w/JPN BGM" seems to be the new standard.

At the same time, though, it seems like "hardcore" dub fans would prefer to have to original dub BGM (though I may just be making assumptions)... I dunno.

Yeah, they don't look like the characters. It's a shame Akira Toriyama himself didn't draw the art work. [/sarcasm]

So what do you guys hope/want to see in this book that comes with it? If I recall, the Dragonbox had a book, but it was not 560 pages, so what content could be in there. Hopefully it isn't the same book 7 times, because, well...that would be stupid.Maybe some stuff ripped from the Daizenshuu, eh, eh, EH!?

In that case, these sets might be a magnificent opportunity to "wean," so to speak, themselves off the dub music and onto something better.

I think I have a new signature.

I assumed they'd be thicker, more in-depth versions of what the Season Sets had, with perhaps some of what the original DBox books had peppered throughout.

Soulja Boy music wouldn't be excluded from Soulja Boy CD's.
