There's no way they could dub those middle sagas to be consistent with the Saban dub. Not with the amount of actors that have left and change in music. Having the Ginyu-Trunks sagas butchered with that awful megaman music would be a nightmare come true imo. It was just so damn repetitive and didn't suit DBZ at all. Most of the time they seemed to just be playing music for the sake of music with no thought put into the music fitting with the scene and the same few tracks getting overused like crazy.
I wish you would put an "in my opinion" in there somewhere because you are saying it is rubbish like it's a fact. Tons of people love it and would love to get there hands on all of them.

I'm sorry... I just... I don't see why this is a thing at all...

Are Nostalgia goggles really enough to make people want an inferior product?...

We have the Dragon Boxes, and those are pretty much perfect IMO... I don't see the point in this at all.

I enjoy watching the Ocean cast episodes because they're so hilariously bad and dated. That alongside nostalgia.

Don't see why so many people are getting upset and/or confused about this. Though I may skip these re-releases and get the last few single DVDs I need.

I just guess I'm waiting for them to announce Dragon Boxes of DB, The Movies, and even *Gasp* GT...

This kinda comes out of left field and is like... what?......... They're giving us an edited, modified, badly written product... over more Dragon Boxes?....

I'd certainly rather have this dub available as opposed to not.

Actually, much of the Ocean cast from those 53 episodes and 3 movies are excellent.

Though there are some good performances, the script, among other things prevents the series dub from being excellent, but I definitely agree with you on the first 3 movies.

If this is in fact coming, I don't think it's a you can get this or you can get that scenario. I doubt Funi has any intention of doing more Dragon Box releases, and this is just a quick cash-in with very little overhead.

And there is a segment of the fanbase that vastly prefers the Ocean group over the Funi cast, so there's no harm in throwing them a bone. Between the Orange Bricks, the Dragon Box, and Ocean Broadcast releases, everyone has been catered to.

Yes, further confusing the market is always good.

Maybe I shouldn't say this, but I don't care if it confuses the average consumer. Doesn't effect me. And it's perfectly okay to have no interest in owning this set, no need to get bent out of shape.

It's confusing enough that all these English dubs exist for the DB series in the first place. Anyone who is aware of the different dubs can easily figure out what sets to buy. To me, it's a bigger injustice that fans of a particular dub cannot own and watch the dub they like because it's not available. I'm not even one of those fans who thinks this dub is good, I just want to experience it in my adulthood as a relic of Dragon Ball Z's history.

To me it's not nostalgia, i just prefer the Ocean dub over the Funimation dub. When i watch Dragon Ball Z i watch the Ocean dub version because that's the one i like, simple as that really.

So... you like severe editing, silly dialog, characters being sent "To The Other Dimension", Tenshinhan both being called Tien... and randomly being able to regrow limbs for no reason whatsoever?...

To each their own I guess.........

To me, some good actors are not enough to excuse the mountains upon mountains of flaws in this product...

Bingo. Say what you will about the script and the censorship, but I'll take Ocean's professional voice actors over Funi's any day of the week. And don't even get me started on Failconer.

Yeah those things don't bother me at all. Saying "to another dimension" never bothered me before so i don't see why it would bother me now, it's just replacing a few words, it's hardly that big a deal. Obviously i would prefer it not to be edited but it still doesn't ruin it for me, i am fine with it.

The only thing about the Ocean dub that annoyed me was Goku's voice actor constantly changing, for a main character this can be pretty annoying. Other than that everything else i am fine with.

This.

I really just want DBZ Ocean 1-53 Eps and the 3 Ocean Dub films.

I didn't bid on those old boxsets because I'm hoping this is what I'm looking for.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Another Dimension doesn't bother me because they actually do go to another dimension. The next world is another dimension. Yes, there's some silly dialog, but not all of it is crap, and the voice acting is really good even with questionable material. I like the FUNi cast, especially now, but Scott McNeill (sp?), Lalainia Lindbjerg, Don Brown, Dave Ward, Jason Gray-Stanford, Ted Cole, and Saffron Henderson are all incredibly talented.

Not really. The Room of Spirit & Time is in another dimension, but the AfterLife & the Living World exist in the same dimension.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I know that, but I doubt if you drill through Hell you can end up in the "Living World".

That's interesting considering one could attribute nostalgia to their preference of the Dragon Boxes over other releases. I much prefer the colors and sharpness of modern remasters like the Level Sets and CorpseCreate's personal remaster over the more blurry, antiquated Dragon Box footage. If the former of these was a complete release or the latter was presented as an official one, I would take either over the Dragon Box, no question.
This is the episode of when Gokuh enrages himself after Freezer talk shit about Kuririn
