Sean has mentioned Kai on at least 2 occasions now. First time was on Kyle Hebert's "Big Bald Broadcast" last December, and more recently on twitter, when asked by someone what he was working on right now.matt0044 wrote:I wouldn't mind this delay if they'd at least talk about the Buu Arc in Kai. He actually mentioned it a third time on a panel at South Texas Comic Con in May this year but it was only about that same scene with Gohan there's a video of it on youtube.

Ocean kai was mentioned a few times too. Just seems odd it's production is stalled.

Oh man, found the video of his Sunday talk at the convention, didn't hear any mention of the Ocean dub.eledoremassis02 wrote:Ocean kai was mentioned a few times too. Just seems odd it's production is stalled.
However, regarding Buu Kai, on the clip from the 'Big Bald Broadcast', Kyle H says you're catch it uncut on Toonami. Soooo, I believe the Buu saga will air when the end of the Cell arc happens. That's just my belief though.

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Oh crap! I mean, it's good that we finally have a good estimate for when it will come out, but do you know how long we will have to wait for it? Hopefully that won't delay Super's English dub release dateSX10 wrote:Oh man, found the video of his Sunday talk at the convention, didn't hear any mention of the Ocean dub.eledoremassis02 wrote:Ocean kai was mentioned a few times too. The Cell arc will finish on the 31st of October so if they don't take a break then the 1st episode will air on the 7th of November.SSGSS Goku wrote:Do you know how long we will have to wait for it? Hopefully that won't delay Super's English dub release date
The home release will probably(hopefully) start once they finish airing the 1st 12 episodes.
I don't know about Super though cause if they want a TV deal then we'll have to wait for the Buu arc to finish.

Go to the link below, and it is episode no. 005

At "21:00" Kyle says "so, wink wink everybody watch it on Toonami uncut" which to me, just means the show in general, not necessarily Buu Kai. Though, to be fair, the "wink wink" wouldn't have been necessary, as Kai had already been announced to be coming on Toonami back in May last year.
This podcast was recorded in December as far as I'm aware, so I think Kyle may have been hinting to us that Toonami would be where we saw it first, and at this point, I think it is almost a certainty that Buu Kai is being held back because of Toei insisting on a TV deal before FUNi start releasing the home video Blu-rays.

I don't think Buu Kai will delay Super's debut on Toonami. The situation with Kai is that, if they put the Buu Arc on now, before or after a Freeza (or later point Cell) episode, it would be very confusing for new fans, and they probably don't have the slots for two Kai episodes on Toonami-though I'm sure if they did, they would be airing current episodes back-to-back so they can get through it quicker to reach the "new" Buu episodes.sintzu wrote:The Cell arc will finish on the 31st of October so if they don't take a break then the 1st episode will air on the 7th of November.

In my opinion, they could air Super-it is not part of "Z", and is a completely different Series. This said, I see no problem with Super airing alongside Kai.
If they were to wait until after Buu Kai aired, then you would be looking at early 2018 for Super to begin, and around April or May for the first part to be released-I can't see FUNi waiting 3 years in order to release any of their Super dub (which according to Justin Rojas, (in terms of licensing) they are "working on it").

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Sorry for any confusion guys, it wasn't a new episode, it was the same one where he's chatting to Sean and Sean is telling him about the scene where Goku and Gohan are parting ways.
Kyle then says something about catching it on Toonami uncut. He may have just been plugging the channel but, I felt like it was a good indicator of when we'd see this dub.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Sadly I think Funimation sign a TV deal with Toonami and Toei to air all of the episodes of Kai in order. I think Kai will end on Toonami by 2017. Toonami is not going anywhere anytime soon. Toonami this year has been doing much better then last year. Not to mention Toonami help anime like Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill become more popular with anime fans in the US. Most people outside of the Internet probably didn't know what Attack on Titan was until last year.sintzu wrote:If we're going to have to wait for Toonami then we'll be waiting till 2018/2019.Hellspawn28 wrote:I think Toonami is the reason why Buu saga Kai is not out on home video yet. Toonami sign a TV deal so that they have to wait for the Buu saga to air on TV in the US. That can explain why Akame Ga Kill is not getting a home video release until Febuary. They want people to tune in to watch TV or otherwise they will just buy the whole set and watch it all of the episodes on their own.
If Super comes out after 2016 then it will still do just fine in the US. Most causal DBZ fans in the US are not into the Japanese version like we are and I doubt most of them have seen the show yet. Most of them wont be pirating the Japanese episodes when they prefer to watch the dub. The series is more popular in English in the US because a lot of people are so used to the voices in English.

I don't mind waiting but they could at least update us sooner or later... preferable sooner.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
The issue with that is that they're more than likely bound by contract to not say anything about it

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
When Kai started to air on Toonami last year, Toonami and Funimation sign a deal with Toei to air the Buu saga and Super by order. It's December and Goku just become a SSj on Toonami. We will probably won't see Buu Kai until late 2016. Funimation did all of the voice recordings early so that they have all of the episodes ready for Toonami.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
No, but it seems likely. Toonami is only runs from 12:00 AM - 3:30 AM. They need to use the 12:30 AM and 1:00 AM slots for their other major shows. While I would love to have both Kai and Super on the same time hour block, it would never happen. Kai is one of Toonami's biggest ratings maker for them since it did allow to them to air repeats of Kai at 8:00 PM on Saturdays.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Did Nicktoons used to cause huge delays like this? Thinking back, I remember the original DBZ used to take forever to air new episodes on Toonami back in the old days. I think they have more of a desire to milk DB content for as long as possible (since it's practically their flagship show) whereas I'm pretty sure Nicktoons just let it air normally.
I mean I love Toonami but damn do I wish they'd speed things up...

It's a video of the 2015 Comic Con Dragon Ball discussion panel and Justin Cook mentions recording for "The Final Chapters" as Super Boo. He also reveals that apparently the Vegetto voice will be Sean Schemmel doing a Chris Sabat impersonation.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Sweet! More news about Final Chapters finally!! XD Thats weird that this time around Sean's doing both voices for Vegetto. Wow even this little bit of new info has me hyped despite the fact its probably going to take another 9 months to air XD This news also confirmed that they are dubbing The Final Chapters instead of asking Toei for the Japanese version. Again, we all saw this coming but at least we got some confirmation.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
So, it's like the Ocean cast dub having Drummond do a Kirby Morrow impression?
I guess they did it this way to focus more on the acting, instead of trying too hard to sync the two takes? This is interesting, regardless of the actual reason. Now I want that dub more than ever. I really don't want to wait another 2 years for no reason...
