Episode 39:
- Ok episode;
- Vegeta was good except when he used his tired voice (it sounds really forced);
- Hit is a lot better and sounds older;

-Episode 37 and 38-
Whoa whoa whoa, they got "Cabba" and Planet "Sadla" right. I'm impressed!
I'm satisfied with Vegeta vs Cabba. I don't mind the translation of Garlic Gun, but that Wanda Stuart joke pissed me off.
As expected they went with "Super Guerreiro Azul" for Super Saiyan Blue. No surprises.
Romeu is incredible.
Loy's tired voice is really annoying.
Next episode is the Kaioken one. I seriously hope they let our Opening Theme play in that scene.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Unfortunately will have to deal with this forever, unless someone really tells him to stop like they did with the jokes. Hopefully this was just a thing he did the day they recorded this last episodes.FortuneSSJ wrote: Loy's tired voice is really annoying.

Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
Considering the Wanda Stuart gag was done in an otherwise serious scene...
Is the rest of Portuguese DB/DBZ/DBGT/DBS like that? Inserting gags at inappropriate spots?

Unfortunately yes, especially in DBZ and the beginning of Super just for Vegeta (this was the breaking point for everyone and now he only screams while fighting and has a good voice except when tired, thank God), now the jokes are rare and sometimes are actually funny and well placed (Wanda Stuart not the case). But the DB and DBZ have no jokes and are really well dubbed.Danfun64 wrote:Considering the Wanda Stuart gag was done in an otherwise serious scene...

The DB and DBZ dubs. Dont feel bad, it took me a while to understand that too.
Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
Is that supposed to be a joke? There's entire videos on YouTube showing all the dumb jokes in the DB and Z dubs!

I didnt make any jokes. I just "translated" the non-sensical phrase...
Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
I thought he meant "movies"...that or "Brazilian Portuguese"

Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
It really should've been Sadala. The Japanese サラダ/sarada comes from the Portuguese "salada", so サダラ/sadara should be rendered as Sadala in a Portuguese translation. In English, it makes some sense to convert that to Sadla to bring out the pun, but for a Portuguese translation, it's ridiculous.FortuneSSJ wrote:-Episode 37 and 38-

Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
So, episode 39.
We had Técnica de Kaibe as expected. Fine, it actually fit within the lip flaps. But then crappy crap translation said 'hi' and instead of "Times Ten" we had "Força 10". I really have no idea where they got that from.
But the best of the beeeeeeeest was the insert song. They used our Chouzetsu Dynamic. However, probably because of having a master track in stereo, the sound effects were mixed in with the Japanese opening, so we have the music and voices with no sound effects... Wonderful.

God Damnit Audio In
!!!! How can you fuck up a well acted episode like this one, everyone gave a good performance, even Hit totally won me over, but no they screw it up by translating "times 10" by "force 10" (not going to talk about Kaioken being Técnica de Kaíbe since they're trying to be consistent with the Z dub) and by cuting out the sound efects while the theme song was playing making it all sound like a fandub. Jesus Christ how can a studio fuck up this many times and not fire anybody. Don't they check things before sending them out
!!! if it wasn't for the good acting and animation this episode would be doomed.

Why couldn't had they just reconstruct the sound effects? I mean, it was not an impossible thing to do. The german dub did it sometimes after the Cell Saga and also the Ocean dub did that all the time(for Saban edition, for the uncut Pioneer dub, and for the Westwood dub too), and those dubs are pretty older than portuguese Super.

I'm getting the idea they don't really care.
Same to the casual fans. Both me and Gafonso6 have criticized today's episode on Facebook and quite a few fans were basically trying to shut us up.

Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
Exactly, it seems that they have the mentality "If the fans don't care why should we?" and that would kill the dub if the actors weren't there. So many good studios out there and Audio In was the one who got it. Shit...

Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
Alright, I'm so pissed off that I actually went deep to reach Audio In's staff, so I just sent Rui de Sá, who's an actor on the DBS dub and one of Audio In's dub directors a message about this, some might think I'm being crazy but even in the 90's this wouldn't happen.
Here's the original message:
Bom dia Rui,
Cumprimentos.
Translation:
Basically I tell him that episode 39 could be fantastic but wasn't due to no sound effects, and I asked him to pass the message inside Audio In because it was awful without sound effects, I also tell I can't wait to hear his Monaka.
Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
Well, reconstruct the sound effects was the best route they could have tooked that time. Or maybe just left the japanese song.
