Shimanuki's art is off the charts now. I was rewatching his earlier episodes and damn they got ugly at times.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Wow, the details in Shida's cut are incredible. Also I love Yamamuro's designs but Shida should be the character designer.

Well still he is not at his top.
Yes I agree that "potato Krillin from FNF" can't be seen but still this episode had some potato jaws, especially for Trunks.
I think the only time Shimanuki was at 100% in Super was in "Trunks vs Vegeta" fight

I disagree. I only liked like one shot of Trunks during that fight. This episode had tons of great shots littered through out the second half. The heads aren't as wide anymore.

Did Shida get corrected in his cut? Because the cut away to Vegetto right at the beginning of his cut looks like it was corrected by Karasawa.

Notable Cuts:

Naotoshi Shida's Vegetto vs Zamasu:

Video Breakdown.

There was and still is so much to cover. Such an overwhelming episode! Tried to fit in the essentials.

Thanks for your work Ajay.
This episode had movie quality. Almost every action animator that works in DBS was in this episode and it was worth it, I just hope that in the future, almost every episode will look like this one, animation wise.

Are you sure those Goku and Trunks shots are Karasawa? They look kinda off for him.

Also I really wonder who this is;

The curvy eye brows and cheek shading are like Shimanuki, but nothing else is.

Since Mr. Shida was able to turn in 1minute does that mean the schedule has improved a lot?

Also how many weeks of pre production for the next arc would be ideal?

(And yes Thank you for your work Ajay it's extremely appreciated).

Yup, almost 100%. Karasawa's style is pretty wacky at times. Here's a Vegeta and a Trunks shot from #56.

Yeah, I'm not sure on who that Vegetto is. It's so hard to tell when things are so on-model without any real defining traits. If there were any here, Shimanuki's definitely removed them.

I wish I knew Jin Inaba's work better since I know it's very on-model like that, but I have no gauge for his movement like I do Higashide to actually pick him out.

He had potentially 10 weeks for this cut, but it's unclear exactly how long he had. The cut was probably longer because he wasn't also doing a lengthy One Piece cut at the same time.

Those Trunks and Vegeta shots look totally fine though and not really like the Goku and Trunks shots you used in your image.

Not really sure what to tell you. The ears, the eyes, the shading, it's all Karasawa-esque. Whether it's a super crazy correction, I don't know, but there's enough there that I'm comfortable having it represent him.

Ajay, you said that Karasawa corrected the Kamehameha at the start, but was it him who animated the scene? Seems too fluid to be him.

So animators work on different cuts? I thought they just do one at a time.
I think he had 7 weeks for #57 so it does seem to be improving then.

Just watched the new roundup video, great job! I'm glad you made those changes to the layout I suggested!
So has Shida said anything about future involvement in the series on Twitter? I'm sure he's going to stick with the series, but it's always nice to have confirmation.

Yep, animators will work on multiple cuts and multiple shows at one time.
As for improvements, it's hard to say since we still know so little about the schedule. This episode could mark an improvement in the schedule, but it could just be that certain things fell into place that allowed Shida to start work earlier than he did on his last episode.

Thanks! Yeah, you definitely pushed me to do them. I considered it last week, but I wanted to keep it fast to make. After realising each video took me hours anyway, I figured an extra 20 mins or so wouldn't make a massive difference.

By the way, I hunted down some Karasawa Goku. I don't know if this helps convince at all? It's a different angle, but in terms of shading, the neck shape/length, and all that good stuff, it seems to match fine.

I'm not 100% sure, honestly. Karasawa's definitely capable of animating fluidly, but the effects in that Kamehameha scene are so blurry and overprocessed that I can't tell anything.

The top 2 pictures for Shimanuki are exactly why I think his style is so great now.

I dunno, maybe it's the nose and the fact that the pupils are different shapes that's throwing me off.

Btw, on the front page you listed this episode as 61 for both Karasawa and Shimanuki
