I for one am glad Mr. Satan hasn't been in any games lately. Sure, it was funny in Budokai 1, but the joke got a little old. I would've been fine with him just being a character you unlock, but they always seem to put him in story mode fights that are necessary to beat to unlock certain characters or for the sake of completion. The mission in Sparking!/BT1 where you have to
run away from Kid Buu while using Mr. Satan and not die has to be one of the most tortuous and frustrating fights ever.
The roster seems a bit odd to me. No base or SSJ2 Teen Gohan, but base Cell Games-era Gohan is in there. Huh. Also, Oozaru Bardock? Seriously? That has to be the most random addition ever.

Thanos before Thanos was cool.

They should have add Gotenks Boo or Super Vegeta instead of Base Boy Gohan...
And did they really adapt the SS/SS2 Boo arc Gohan debate by adding SS Gohan looking like SS2 Gohan?!

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I guess they're going for the most icnonic character forms. And despite not being in base till the end of Cell games. base Cell Gohan is quite popular for some reasn

I doubt this is of much importance but the official Battle of Z website (at least the EU one) is filled with inaccuracies regarding characters. Here's an example of NBGI messing up on an important plot point.
'He is an
Earth-born Saiyan who is excited to fight powerful enemies.' Hmm...
I know that the site's purpose is to advertise the game and not to act as a DBZ encyclopaedia but I felt this should be noted either way.

I think they fucked up and meant Earth-raised Saiyan. Though I know some people who say where they was raised at is their birthplace. Seeing as Goku spent less than 1 day on Vegeta we can say they he is in a way "Earth born" but "earth raised" is a much better term.

Judging by the spelling and grammar errors throughout the site, it's safe to assume that they quickly typed that out to get the site finished, disregarding accuracy.

He only was a joke character in the Tnekaichi Games, he was pretty viable in the Budokai series...I mean, he's no Dan.

The game comes out in three months (almost two) from now in the US. Anyone going to bother pre-ordering it?

This game should have been called "DRAGON BALL Z: SUPER BATTLE ONLINE!!" because it's what they were going for primarily.
The addition of single player feels like a bonus and having always 4v4 isn't ideal because 1/4 players is human while the others are bots. ARTDINK still has time to add 1v1 option and offline battle modes.

First the manga and anime has the issue of Goha being SSJ or not but now the videos games. C'mon! Just what we need more debates. Though DevilCorpse had something to say. Which makes me wonder if that's an error or they made a character roster mistake

I guess it's also interesting to note that, from the above image, they have apparently used what most fans would deem as Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 design from the Buu Arc as just his Super Saiyan form here...despite the fact that his model has lightning in his aura in game...

I'll probably buy DBZ:BoZ but not at launch it just doesn't look like the type of game that's worthy of pre-ordering.
I'll probably pre-order for the Sage-Naruto costume...considering it's been said it will never be available otherwise.
Wait wait wait, so if we don't preorder, we don't get the Sage mode skin nor Super Saiyan Bardock and Vegetto?

The Naruto costume comes with first-run copies of the game.
Namco-Bandai hasn't unveiled the plans yet for Super Vegetto and Super Saiyan Bardock. It sounds like in Europe you get them both for pre-ordering and they might be separated for different retailers in the US... but again, it hasn't actually been properly explained yet.

SS Bardock and SS Vegetto are pre-order incentives as of right now, but they may eventually be available down the line, as a DLC pack or something. The Sage Goku though has been specifically stated to be day one pre-order exclusive. The representative even noted in an interview that, just like the Goku costume Naruto got in Storm 3, it won't be available outside that initial offer.

Dub-only! Why? Couldn't they just release the Japanese track as DLC if there's concerns over the game's size (which there shouldn't be given it's a DD-only release)?
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
