"Dragon Ball XENOVERSE" Official Discussion Thread

We've had a Bandai Namco employee volunteer a hint about actual DLC being possible without being asked by an interviewer. Heroes is already adopting content from Xenoverse (which it of course took from DBO first). Pan is to be included in Xenoverse if the data mine is to be believed. I suppose I could see them giving her Super Saiyan in this game and then bringing it into Heroes afterward (maybe the same time as "Demigra"). Not sure it will actually happen, but I definitely wouldn't rule out the possibility.

I think it's funny how these people keep saying "new" this and "new" that, but don't seem to want to admit that DBO was their influence. I mean, I understand that the general fanbase may not know what that game is since it never saw release outside of the Asian territories, but most of this stuff is new to consoles, it isn't as new in general as they seem to be hyping.

Well yeah, but if they take time to explain that it's not really totally new, just new in some ways, then it doesn't appear as 'ooh, shiny!' to people as they want it to be. Sort of like when Taiketsu was the "first" game to include Broly.

Meh, don't remind me of that travesty. xD

Most of us here know about DBO and are thrilled with it being in the game (so that those of us who couldn't play now can, and those of us who did can now understand it), and for those who were unaware before, they'll be excited at the content being new to them in general. PR is all about how you spin things. You can still create hype without lying or omitting info in a scenario like this. They could have said something like the below statement and gotten the point across. To me that's better than people later finding out that the content isn't original and getting pissy about that (because some people will literally bitch about anything..kiiinda like I'm doing now).

"Yeah, yeah. It's very exciting. There is a lot to look forward to in the game. We're bringing concepts from the Korean MMO, Dragon Ball Online, to consoles. So, while we still have all the things players love about the original Dragon Ball story, there will be brand new characters, stories and features available to them too, making for a whole new adventure that the global audience can experience together for the first time."

I wonder if the stories will be included like Trunks and Goten's swordsmanship school and Tenshinhan's new crane school etc?

I'd like it if the DBO timeline was included somewhere as a special feature in an in-game encyclopedia or something, but I wouldn't expect to be able to play it or anything. That would require them to make another version of Trunks and an adult version of Goten for once...and I never like the latter's chances for getting pretty much anything. :/

Yeah you're right. having an encyclopedia would be awesome. I just want that information in the game! I don't care how they go about doing it.

On the thought of the current fighting over who should and who shouldn't be in the game....Can't we have Kid Kakarot, Kid/Teen Goku, Teen Yamcha AND Dabura/Other Movie Characters in the game (I would personally love to have Teen Yamcha in the game myself)?

and I think since this IS a game based on Trunks sending custom characters across time, that the twenty four years between Planet Vegeta's destruction AND Raditz arriving should be included just as much as GT and Online.
Dragonball had just as much importance in the story of Goku as much as the rest of the series and so did Jaco the Galactic Patrolman so it shouldn't be just dismissed as a "Once upon a time Bardock and Gine had a son and sent him to Earth, then he grew into Earth's hero " prequel story.

If the Bardock vs Frieza story is going to be playable and GT is playable I do not see how Jaco or Dragonball shouldn't be.

About demo is just a rumor, no release date for final game or demo yet.

Kid Nappa is impossible but Kid Vegeta is more likely lol XD.

I was referring to Goku from the Piccolo Daimaoh saga and his Pilaf-Red Ribbon Army selves as one character when I said Kid/Teen Goku...(he's sixteen in the Piccolo Daimaoh saga after all).They can all be the same character, Kid Goku.

While nineteen year old Goku can take the Teen Goku monkier, that's if Xenoverse includes Dragonball.

Same here, I like him (not the transformation though ). I also want Jiaozi, Saibaman and Cell Jr (AND MR SATAN!!) are there, then Jiaozi/Chaoz deserve a spot as well.

The only one out of this list that remotely interests me is Janemba because the others are somewhat passable, however, if Dimps gave them cool alternate costumes then I'd like to try out Coola and Zabon.

This confuses me. Janemba doesn't even have a personality. He is for all intents and purposes kid buu with a sword. Chaotzu, Zarbon, Dodoria, and Yamcha were actual characters who were important to the manga's storyline. Not to mention the fact that Yamcha/Chaotszu are part of the core cast. Yet people want muscle bound nobodies like Bojack, Janemba, lord slug, or Broly more?

Why do people want to play as Super Saiyan Bardock? It's because he looks cool, I'd say so too for Janemba, Coola and Zabon given if they were suited with alternate costumes either made for XV, Heroes or whatever newest costumes they have for them.

I know that it's shallow to just want to play as them for the looks instead of their fighting abilities, but this is a Dragon Ball game so it's not necessarily to be taken serious like other fighting games.

I hope people remember the addition of DLC. Whoever is missing can easily be added later. I'd also bet some characters are missing on account of having 8-10 custom character slots. For now, I say play the waiting game and see how everything goes.

I don't think they will add DLC, they never did for Dragon ball.
