I'm not a fan of either version. But, I got a bad dose of the Power Ranger series as a child, and all I remember seeing is this:
1. Good guys fight normal sized bad guy.
2. Good guys destroy bad guy with big fancy laser gun.
3. Bag guy returns as a giant.
4. Good guys get into a giant transformer-esque robot.
5. bag guy is destroyed yet again by an even bigger, fancier laser gun and/or sword.
And something else that I hate to remember is that whenever one of the Rangers got slashed or shot at, static would come from their suits and the explosions would be in the far background. How very cheap.

You basically pointed out every reason people love the Sentai/Power Rangers.Pain wrote:I'm not a fan of either version. But, I got a bad dose of the Power Ranger series as a child, and all I remember seeing is this:

Like the Chinese Dragoball LAM, the cheese factor is why people love it.

While I'm not a devoted fan of Super Sentai or Power Rangers, the Japanese in many of the episodes is just one step up from Nintama Raitaro in terms of how complicated it is, but still simple enough that I can test my listening skills. Also, I like cheese. Those shows are as cheesy as cheese can cheese. It's part of the charm.Pain wrote:I'm not a fan of either version. Super Sentai and Power Rangers would be nothing if they were to be made in a way that allowed them to be taken seriously.

What?! They love that stuff? For what? And what's this about a cheese factor?Big Momma wrote:You basically pointed out every reason people love the Sentai/Power Rangers.Pain wrote:I'm not a fan of either version. I don't know. Its something about obviously fake action that makes people laugh. It's funny to see something incredibly corny/cheesy.Pain wrote:What?! They love that stuff? For what? A lot of people like it. It's just something you can't explain.

Those effects are what led to people calling those suits the best fictional body armor, almost ever.Pain wrote:And something else that I hate to remember is that whenever one of the Rangers got slashed or shot at, static would come from their suits and the explosions would be in the far background. Its' not even that. Personally, I stopped watching power rangers after Lost Galaxy, but the whole good against evil thing was interesting. You knew beforehand, the good guys will win. It's like a perry mason episode, you watched to see how they would do it.Big Momma wrote:I don't know. Its something about obviously fake action that makes people laugh. Take in Space for example, to wrap up the first five years, they had a gigantic final battle that spanned the entire universe. Old and new power ranger allies united against a united enemy alliance. It took the sacrifice of Zordon to win, lol. Yeah, I remember this way too much.
I still watch the Original Sentai shows, and up to Lost Galaxy, the Power Ranger counter-part was a lot better. Story line wise and characters. Well, except for Turbo's little kid, that should have died

Well I thank you all very kindly on giving me the Sentai rundown (No sarcasm intended).
I think that I've found a goof in one of the new Live Action Daimao and Mai images!

Look closely below his left glove. maybe I'm wrong but I think that there is a part of his arm that can be visibly seen with no green make up on it. Is this a goof?

I see it...
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I would think that is just a publicity photo, they rarely every put enough effort into those.Pain wrote:Well I thank you all very kindly on giving me the Sentai rundown (No sarcasm intended).

Didn't realize that, now that I look it at it does. It might even be a recycled suit from X-men. This is Fox, they rarely ever care for quality or originality.jaywonder wrote: His outfit reminds me of the outfits from the X Men movies

Is it just me or does Daimao look like an intergalactic space pimp, with Mai as his trusty...sidekick(*cough*hoe*cough*)?

You saying that to me is like someone saying that Mr.Satan actually is the champion of Earth and that the Saiya-Jin don't stand a chance against him. I just don't believe you.Victator Supreme wrote:And thats all awesome.Pain wrote:I'm not a fan of either version.
