I would've liked to have seen 17's family in that smartphone photo before this tournament started; I get they didn't want to commit to designs for some reason or another, but showing works better than telling.

I'm just anxious to learn who from Team 7 is next to be KO'd, just to see if either the opening or ending's lineups as spoilers hold water.

All the hybrids are vastly inferior to Goku and Vegeta outside of Future Trunks and Gohan and it will stay that way since they don't train. Goten and Trunks hasn't grown in power since the Buu Saga, which is almost a decade.

EOZ it was already stated that Goten and Trunks lost interest in training and have slacked off. So unless Super changes that, they're not going to grow and Gohan will go back to being a nerd.

Again, Dragon Ball has never been a generation story in passing the torch. It's Goku's story and seeing him grow. Everyone else comes and goes. In other words, it isn't Jo Jo.

Yeah goten and trunks lost didn't care for fighting in eoz bulla was just basically a toddler she really doesn't even count she probably has a good future since super been doing a far better job with her and pan now uub honestly was pointless

After everything you've seen them do in Super, do you honesty think power wise they'd make it impossible for them to catch Goku and Vegeta? Can you REALLY sit here and type that Toei will honor what was already established in Z? They changed Trunks hair color to Blue for goodness sake. Yeah I get that his hair was technically blue in the manga, but they had already established Trunks hair as purple in the Z anime. Now it just looks stupid that they switched it midway.

Who in the world has ever said that Goten and Trunks don't have potential to get stronger? Do you see how ridiculous you sound? You're telling me the future offspring of Vegetas is inferior to the present offspring of Vegeta. Both are freaking Trunks. If anything, this present Trunks is stronger than the future Trunks at this age. No matter what you sit here and try to say and solidify in your head, they are both the offspring of Vegeta and Goku. They have an enormous amount of potential given how unnaturally strong they are right now.

Do you see the ridiculous gains Gohan made in 40 hours? Trunks and Goten are powerhouses at this age. If they legitimately trained, they would easily catch up to their fathers. I know nothing about Jo Jo, but I do remember Uub was being trained by Goku to uphold the peace and for his own selfish reasons. If toeis good at anything, they're good at proving people like you wrong.

Why do people believe in this opening shot ? first it was the ending order and now the star that the characters are holding ?? this is getting ridiculous ! i can't even see the stars on the balls properly, idk about you all but Goku, Vegeta and Gohan as last 3 is the most predictible and boring ending of an arc i can ever imagine i hope it's not the case. and before someone calls me "a salty 17 fan" i'd rather have any non saiyan replace one of the saiyans as last 3 ! there.

#17 making it to the finals is also boring, lol. This guy seriously hasn't got any depth of his character. He is just boring version of Vegeta. Pretends to be badass but he really isn't. Something like Hit, but Hit at least is stronger and has a wide range of techniques and other tricks.

That's your opinion. i don't agree with it aznd i don't even respect it because you're just talking out of salt, 17 has had great character developement and is NOTHING like Vegeta, also you know nothing about his new strength or abilities, Toriyama said he didn't have the opportunity to showcase his real abilities so he's doing it now, expect to see more of him. and bring more salt.

If Tenshinhan is the next one eliminated then Vegeta might likely lose to Brianne.

If Roshi is the next one that gets canned, then Vegeta wont lose vs Brianne.

Its basically between Tenshinhan and Roshi that will decide what will be Vegetas fate in the ToP.

No,whatever Roshi or Tien get ringed out will decide which 'theory' will stick around longer.
Even if Tien gets eliminated that does not mean the theory is valid unless proven otherwise.

I also didn't even mention wanting 17 as last 3 i said any OTHER NON SAIYAN would be good as last 3, because Goku, Vegeta and Gohan as last 3 is NOTHING original or versatile. i stated an opinion and i didn't call them boring i said the idea of them being last 3 is boring there was no need to trash talk my favorite character to get back to me or something.

Roshi was seen tired after using bankokou in episode 101, and with Universe 2 fighting this saturday, it wouldnt be shocking if he is gone and also Tenshinhan(he already got his elimination).

I'm just gonna jump in on this exact comment, ignoring the rest of the conversation.
This is exactly right. From beginning to end, Goku has been the main character of the franchise, the "constant" to the varying characters surrounding him. I wrote another post with this point in it fairly recently, but: Dragon Ball as a franchise has long since passed the point where it's too late to change main characters. They can't retire him anymore. Passing the torch to the next generation (to use the two main families as an example) wouldn't be switching out Goku and Vegeta with Goten and Trunks, it would be switching out Goten and Trunks with Pan and Bulla. Goku would basically have to remain in his role, because that's what Dragon Ball is.

I wish I would've used a different example than Boruto, because you guys make it seem like I meant Goku sitting on the sidelines.

I agree with Alruneia. Torch passing, I think, is something you need to plan from the get-go, not 30+ years into the franchise's life span. I also think it requires more world building than Toriyama has put into Dragon Ball. JoJo has strong world building and its battles have an emphasis on solving puzzles with strategy that also involves punching, where Dragon Ball is almost all brute strength with some strategy. The nature of stands allows anyone to take part in the battle regardless of their body build or physical strength. Because of that, you can reset the cast much easier because you don't have the power creep Dragon Ball has.

I think it could be done with some care and planning, but I don't think it will since Goku is the face of the franchise and still has a good 20 years of fighting left in him if he doesn't get de-aged again. Even when he was dead and tried to pass the torch he only sat out a couple chapters before re-entering the story as a major player and popped up in every single movie in some way or another. Goku just can't stay away.

I think what will probably happen is what's happened in the past: the supporting cast will rotate out with the older characters given less prominence and the newer characters pushed up into the foreground. It's a tricky balancing act keeping him from overshadowing everyone else.

Omitting Goku from the story would be stupid in all points.

I think they should have Goku become a support character(like how Joseph was in JJBA Part 3, Jotaro in Part 4 and 6, Polnareff in Part 5).

Or look at Boruto, they have Naruto and Sasuke as support characters too.

This self-hatred I see on this issue is bizarre. Warcraft fans ask their writers about the story, Star Wars fans ask, every fandom I've been a part of does it. Only here is it treated like some grave crime we need to be shamed for.

There is obviously a communication problem with him being Japanese and not so fluent in English and fans are taking advantage of this, it is completely different to those other examples you gave.

I've already addressed the communication issue, but let be more empathetic about it this time: we're the ones who don't know how to communicate. Have you seen the grammar of those asking him questions? That his own command of the language also isn't so great adds an interesting dynamic, but fundamentally it changes nothing; even if the English were perfect it still might as well be another language due to the poor reading comprehension that runs rampant.

I could see as Nozawa gets older having Gokû as support, but I never liked him in the role of mentor or teacher. I think that would still be enough of a shift to get me to drop Super.

Part 3 Joseph Joestar was great, but I wouldn't enjoy Gokû in that position.

Sounds good. This is the first month in a while where I'm curious about episode titles. Mostly because I want to know who gets ko'd next from Team 7, but partly because I want to know how the Brianne battle shakes out. The parody-Precure team has some of my interest.

Dragon Ball was always a gold mine for Bandai and now with Universe Survival arc they will be on-fire because of the crazy amount of new characters introduced. The amount of money they are about to do with this arc is crazy!
