Maybe Toriyama will hold on to his old mentality of "movies are in a different dimension" and the series will completely contradict the movies.
Could end up like the old Disney's Hercules tv series, where they showed a contradictory account of Hercules' teenage years instead of going of continuing from where the movie left off.
At the same time, I have to wonder whether we'll see some sort of uncharacteristic switcheroo, where we believe we're watching our own heroes for the initial episodes, only to see them and the Earth utterly obliterated by this new Hakaishin and his attendant. Suddenly we pull away from our own Whis' crystal ball to find Goku and Vegeta looking horrified at the events. Cue our heroes travelling to another universe to stop the malevolent Hakaishin! Dun dun dun.
That does sound crazy enough to happen
On a happier note, I absolutely adore this artwork. It reminds me so much of the old movie posters from back in the day. If I can get my hands on this in high resolution, I'm blowing it up to frame on my wall. It looks beautiful!
Somehow Toyble has made Beerus look even dumber than ever before. I can't quite tell, which character from another franchise he reminds me of..

This could be a foolhardy choice, but for now, I'm going to trust the ANN translation since nothing in it seems outright wrong with what we know and have kind of started to suspect...but of course I'm also going to be ready to throw it right back out the window the minute we get a translation from here.
I'm actually pretty excited if the synopsis is even somewhat accurate though. I'm all for opening up on something a bit more slice of life before it later goes into the high octane action.

As a side note it is not uncommon for fiancées to be refereed to as wives.
If we are starting pre-BoG though then I think they might just show the wedding (and Goten and Trunks getting the present) and then move on very quickly, basically just establishing what will lead to Pan.

Didnt Chichi mention that Videl is Gohan's wife at BoG?
I'm pretty sure the original Japanese version said something along the lines of "fiance/bride/girlfriend". I actually complained that in the Mexican dub they censored it by saying Videl was his wife. They didn't want to imply extra marital sex, but cccoooome oooon.

Going to go out on a limb here and say maybe, just maybe, that not every single episode of the show takes place in the same time period. This could be an opening flashback or something.

I hate this. We're stuck in this era just because of that stupid "we just saw you a mere five years ago" line at EoZ.

The original japanese said Oyomesan=wife/bride (from what I know)

Given that they changed the ending slightly already, I don't think that's the reason we're still in this era. We're still in this era because this is when Toriyama, Toei, and whoever else want to set their new series (for better or for worse).

I think we're stuck because they don't think Pan, Bra, and Uub are marketable enough as the 'kids' in the cast.
Which stinks because I want to see Vegeta and Bra adventures. I wanna see more EoZ Pan, she's cool. I want to see EoZ Goten because I like his design.

THIS! Especially Bra. The only moment where I got excited in GT was when she mentioned putting on a fashion show for Vegeta...too bad it never happened.

Yeah, it's a real shame. I mean, they're probably right in terms of trying to market to young teenage boys in Japan, but just in terms of personal preference, I would love so much to see a series largely about Pan, Uub and Bra.

My only hope for getting to see them someday is that we made it through F without 'young male child cast member who is also part saiyajin'. If there's precedent, it can happen again.

That could work for an OVA or a 13 episode series but not a worldwide 100+ series that's trying to bring the franchise's sales and popularity back to what it was years ago.
ANN wrote:Goten, about to become a brother-in-law to Videl
If this is true then it looks like this'll take place before BOG cause in it Gohan&Videl are married.
This could be interesting cause Goku won't have his god powers yet so he'll have to use Ssj3 in his battle with whoever the villain is and hopefully Vegeta will as well.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

There's one weird thing though: the character bio on Videl at the official website says they already married. Right? o_O

I think Toriyama wants to start at a familiar point and expand the story from there. It's been 18 years after all, and some kids just get into DragonBall.
Little of topic but does anyone know why Majin Bejita turned in stone after sacrificing his self? Was there anything stated in Daizenshuu?

I'll take info on the official site over translations from ANN. (The F in Fukkatsu, after all).
It's midnight in Japan right now, so all we can really do is wait for when Julian and/or Kei wake up.

So I was just thinking of how many times the characters have died and made this list, which could be useful in case the series ever goes beyond EoZ and somehow Namek blows up or their Dragon Balls stop working for some reason.
I think that's all right, correct me if I'm wrong.

I always thought he became ashes by the extreme heat of the energy's explosion. He literary consumed himself.

Just for drama, I guess.
It was discussed here a couple times I think...
