Re: Dragon Ball Online News
I'm thinking Mr. Toriyama, with all this new post-z info and knowledge and happenings, should tae all that into another movie or small arc.
I know everyone will thing this is a bad idea but I want NEW DBZ in non 200 years in the future online game.

Unfortunately such is the easiest way to distinguish between Future Trunks and Present Trunks, in text form, when they're both in the same story. I've had to resort to such myself before."Mirai"
*eye twitch*
Oh, thank-you, I'm not the only one who thought that. XD"At the same time, Goten had moved his hands down to his sides and took a similar grip on thin air. His ki fell as well, and another shape took form in his grasp, one his own family would recognize."
Good god, Goten! Not in public!
Yes, but when you have two Trunks's running around you need to differentiate between them. I don't know about with Thanos's fic but in mine, even though "Mirai" is what was said/written in the story it was just 'for the sake of the readers' so that they could tell A from B with just a name. As far as everyone in the fic was concerned he was still being called Trunks.But... his name... is still Trunks... He wasn't named Mirai-Trunks.
Yeah, it's impressive. And it seems they have every intent for an NA release. Sweet. Now I just need money. And a better computer. And broadband.Wow the company working this has quite the dedication.

But no, seriously, why not call him future-Trunks?
I understand a lot of you watch the Japanese version so that's what you're used to, but even though I watch Naruto in Japanese/read fan translations that use japanese words, I would never say to someone, something like "Sasuke's nii-san, Itachi...", or "kage-bunshin".

Re: Dragon Ball Online News
Because, as I said before, Mirai just works better as an actual name.
And unlike Xyex, I am in fact using "Mirai" as a replacement name and not just a handy tool for the readers. He wants to keep his status as time traveller secret from the general public and so he doesn't want people wondering why his family has two kids named Trunks (Plus, it makes things easier when someone yells out "Trunks!").
His wife (who, naturally, DOES know his full history, his birth name, etc) thinks of him as Mirai, and over time even he himself comes to think of it as his name.

So he calls himself "Future"?
So what happened to that whole future Earth he's abandoned?His wife (who, naturally, DOES know his full history, his birth name, etc) thinks of him as Mirai, and over time even he himself comes to think of it as his name.
Re: Dragon Ball Online News
No. Remember, "Mirai" is also a legitimate Japanese name (albeit, one mostly used by girls). He portrays himself to the world as Trunks's older brother, the result of a one-night stand between Vegeta and Bulma years before they settled down.So he calls himself "Future"?
All the survivors were killed by Babidi and Dabra, who waited until things became less chaotic for them to make their move; they didn't want to risk the unpredictable cyborgs possibly blowing up their spaceship and/or the Buu ball. But while they were waiting, they passed the time by picking up life force from across the cosmos, including that of all the Nameks on their new planet (in other words, no Dragonballs).So what happened to that whole future Earth he's abandoned?
Mirai was the only survivor, his rage at the slaughter pushing him into Super Saiyan 2 and allowing him to defeat Babidi and Dabra. When that was over, he contemplated suicide, but instead returned to the "happy" timeline to warn them. When he found that this threat had already been dealt with, he chose to settle down at Capsule Corp. instead.

I think that should help get the point across. Using Future Trunks is great for discussion but it just does not work in dialogue.Xyex's Fanfiction wrote:"Hey there Future Trunks! You're a little early this year, you usually don't come until the end of the month."
~~~~~~~~~
"Taken to talking to yourself now, Future Trunks?" Gohan asked from the doorway.
~~~~~~~~~
"No problem. Just give me an hour or two. I'll be back when I'm done. In the meantime, you can help Future Trunks out." With that she turned and left.
~~~~~~~~~
"Yeah, tell me about it." Gohan said with a sigh. "I called Future Trunks earlier too, he should be out here soon actually. The three of us should be enough. Um, Yamcha, could you stay here and keep an eye on mom for me? Just in case things don't go so well."
~~~~~~~~~
"Let's see..." Gohan said looking everyone over. "This is Krillin, his wife 18, Tien, Piccolo, my dad, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Goten's friend Trunks." he said motioning to each person she'd not actually met in person yet. "Guys, this is Videl."
~~~~~~~~~
"Um, well then, moving on to our next match we have Tien, another former Champion, winner of the 22nd Budokai, Vs. Future Trunks! Contestants to the ring!"
Hah. Despite the fact that, in story, they're refering to both Future Trunks and Trunks as just "Trunks" no one ever gets confused or curious about it in my stories. That particular one has yet to be posted on-line, actually. XD I've got two active ones already and don't want to add a third as I've already got in-active ones on hold. Too many ideas, not enough time.Thanos6 wrote:Heh heh. Your fics have me intrigued and I'll have to read them sometime soon.
If you do read any of my stuff, I suggest sticking to Adrift, Of Angels and Demons, The Darkness Overcomes You, and my AH Series (Legend of the Super Sai-jin, Day of Darkness, Return of Recoome, Rise of Vegeta, Red Ribbons Revenge, and the current saga, Heaven and Hell) as they're my best works. War for the Universe was my first (and it shows, horribly) with Twisted Reality as a prequel (and just as bad). Cell 2.0 is okay, but not the best (partly as it was half parody of the fast climbing of powers in late Z) and the rest are unfinished.
Re: Dragon Ball Online News
So two whole worlds we know of and countless we don't had to die just so your precious Futuwe Twunks could get shoved back into our timeline and settle down and take a wife and have gay ol' adventures and never ever go frogspawn-chewing mad from a double dose of apocalypse.Thanos6 wrote:All the survivors were killed by Babidi and Dabra, who waited until things became less chaotic for them to make their move; they didn't want to risk the unpredictable cyborgs possibly blowing up their spaceship and/or the Buu ball. Re: Dragon Ball Online News
Well, I had to deal with the Buu problem somehow...
I actually suggest more than once that his hold on sanity is very very tentative, that one more tragedy is all it would take to push him totally over the edge (when his wife goes into childbirth, if she dies, the other warriors of Earth are ready to mercy kill him when/if that pushes him past the breaking point and he starts destroying things), but fortunately that never happens.
Xyex: The story where he first returns to the other timeline is my second fic, and much like some of your own early work, I'm a bit embarassed about it. The link I'm about to post, however, is from a later fic in the series and contains a more detailed look at that final apocalypse, and I consider it one of my better bits of writing.
Re: Dragon Ball Online News
Would anyone happen to know if an there are plans by Shueisha to publish an artbook full of Mr. Toriyama's drawings and sketches related to DBO? Or a guidebook featuring both his artwork and in-game screens like I saw for Blue Dragon a while back?
Re: Dragon Ball Online News
I know of no plans for one but am sure one would sells quite freakin' well. I do foresee it happening, however...the SEG came out of nowhere do I can't see a compilation of arts and notes (plus interview) not coming.Chuquita wrote:Would anyone happen to know if an there are plans by Shueisha to publish an artbook full of Mr. Toriyama's drawings and sketches related to DBO? Re: Dragon Ball Online News
If Blue Dragon got one, then it's definitely a possibiltiy that Dragon Ball Online will get one, but the game will have to actually come out first. I'd certainly buy it, even if I have to go out of my way to import it.Chuquita wrote:Would anyone happen to know if an there are plans by Shueisha to publish an artbook full of Mr. Toriyama's drawings and sketches related to DBO? Re: Dragon Ball Online News
You know, I like the idea of the Saiyan race continuing through humanity. It's almost like the Saiyan race experienced a redemption. For all its wicked acts, it was punished by being doomed to a slow extinction. Then, thanks to Goku and Vegeta saving the Earth countless times, it was rewarded with a permanent legacy in the human race.
At last we can screw up on DBGT and have an official "what happened?" to the characters. I really like what happened with Krillin and Tienshinhan characters.
Didn't it came out already?Kiyza wrote:Chuquita wrote:... but the game will have to actually come out first.
Re: Dragon Ball Online News
Eh... yes and no. It's in open beta right now, but most online games with an ongoing story usually reset back to the beginning once the beta ends and the game hits the market. It's in the last stage of pre-release right now, even though people are already playing it.Senzu_Bean wrote:Didn't it came out already?
