Even if this release is indeed true, I highly doubt Funimation would honestly go back, re-cut the uncut footage (remastered or not) and synch it up to the Ocean dub audio when they already have masters which have already done this.

Most likely scenario would simply be the old masters, just encoded better.

Nope. Funimation hasn't commented on it yet. I found two more places listing this Anime Castle and AwX.

Off topic but Funimation announced that the Vancouver cast are returning for the Black Lagoon OVA. I don't know if that has any bearing on the 'redubbed' bit in the description, I doubt it does but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Both of these websites have been rated by WoT and they're apparently trustworthy. I wouldn't pre-order or buy from them because I've never knew of either one.

As more and more sellers are listing it it probably is real so we'll just wait a couple more until it hits Amazon. When it does I'll happily pre-order it.

WoT helps their users by "surfing" the internet safe, when a website's risky it has a red flag and a notice if I want to enter or exit.

If this is a hoax it's VERY elaborate. There's an SKU and UPC code.

It could be possible that the "re-dubbing" that was mentioned was simply dubbing the stuff that was originally cut to present an Uncut Ocean Dub. Of course that would mean that the original Ocean music would be gone in favor of Kikuchi's score.

I pretty much see a scenario where the ocean dub gets a dvd release, maybe they're just going through the first 67 episodes and then just release the rest without redubbing anything.
But if it's a new dub neato.

Now that Anime Castle has the listing also, I can stop by their warehouse and ask them directly if they know anything more about that listing.

A redubbing would just kill it and be misleading for the audience that it's targeted to. If it's a redub I'll just avoid it then.

But it wouldn't be an entire re-dubbing. Rather they'd merely Dub that stuff that was never dubbed to begin with.

I can't even begin to fathom how that would work. Getting together (most) of the same cast to record lines that are going to be spliced in with stuff they recorded fifteen years earlier? There's no way that could possibly match!

Drummond redoing lines could have easily been for the Kai dub. I'm not buying into the pre-order descriptions on this DVD either, especially since the cover seems to contradict it.

I'll just say that, if they were really doing new lines to make their old dub uncut, then they'd have probably done the same thing with their Kai dub for the Z Blu-rays to have a new Z dub.

By that, I mean they're not going to go through the effort and expense to record 15 episodes or something's worth of dialog for a re-release.

Kai has the pros that it's shorter than DBZ and the dub probably would be more accurate but then the cons come and they're not something to be taken lightly.

Owning the DBZ Ocean Dub from Saiyan arc to Namek arc is what I've been wanting for a long time now and I've been holding out because I was hoping there'd be a new re-release so that I could buy it new at a reasonable price.

Just release as is, no Kai dub or redub, please.

Personally I'm all for a redub. The Ocean cast got the rug pulled from under them the first time they dubbed Z and their westwood dub was commendable given the rushed circumstances but I'm positive given the same freedom as the Funimation in house cast they could do an amazing job. Plus I'm dying to see what a complete Freeza saga would sound like with Drummond and McNeil not to mention a new Goku and Freeza.

I'de still get the DVDs if they just re-released the original dub and be happy with that but a redub would be even better for me. Perhaps a re-release is just to prep a younger generation for future Ocean dubbed projects. Who knows.

I'd prefer an unedited redub of DBZ with the Kikuchi score over Kai, but I don't see that happening.

The cover of DBZ Showdown is at least similar to this supposed new release of DBZ Saiyan Saga Ocean Dub:

Dragon Ball Z: Showdown (1999)

Dragon Ball Z: Saiyan Saga (2013)

The rest looks new and Kai-ish for some reason but hopefully it has nothing to do with Kai. :)

It looks like the images for it were taken from some new source... maybe a calendar? FUNi (or a Hoaxer) could be reusing stock images from said source.

If this really is a FUNi product that is really coming and wasn't put together by someone as a joke or something, then they may have requested that art from Toei as well.

Both of these would explain why it looks "Kai-ish" because what you're calling "Kai-ish" is just how modern day Toei draws these characters.

I think that Raditz was used on a Dragon Box disc, and the Nappa looks like old art too. I think the Gohan, Vegeta, and Piccolo art are new, which is an odd balance of 3 old and 3 new.

Also, I pointed this out earlier, but had no responses. Am I the only on that thinks the background looks like the Kaioshin realm? :shifty:

Yeah that definitely looks like Supreme Kai's planet. Which makes me wonder if this is fake considering it's meant to be the Saiyan saga and all.

Anyway that exact image of Goku is from the back of Season 3 DBZ Remastered.
