Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
http://www.tvguide.or.jp/ranking/timerr ... index.html
DVR Rating: 19-25 of October
1st: Lupin III - 100.0
2nd: Yokai Watch - 86.1
3rd: One Piece - 78.0 (Up 1)
4th: Doraemon - 73.9 (Down 1)
5th: Detective Conan - 60.8
6th: Mobile Suit Gundam - 59.2 (Up 1)
7th: Gintama - 56.0 (Down 1)
8th: One Punch Man - 54.0 (Up 1)
9th: Dragon Ball Super - 53.2 (Episode 16) (Down 1)
10th: Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider - 43.0
Like I predicted last week, One Punch Man overcame us, pulling us down to our worst placement yet. I don't think we can do worse. We should be fighting for 8th at least until FnF arc takes off.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
One Punch Man does have incredible animation. My interest in its plot is really low though. I actually dropped the manga for that reason (The manga is also really well drawn, very nice battle storyboarding). and I'm mostly following the OPM anime for it's awesome animation.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
One Punch Man animation is really amazing. If the anime is anything more than that or just another Shingeki No kyojin, I don't know.
I still didn't watch it. But what is calling everyone over on internet is the animation. No doubt.
I'm curious to see how Champa/Vados debut was received. I still think they should have shot it out in Weekly Shounen Jump, to reach more people.
In other hand, I don't have any interest in ROF arc ratings. Since the Movie home release just came out, I expect poor ratings.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I gotta say I'm not entirely surprised by the sudden ratings dip. OPM has been pretty good so far, animation is great and the show is just a really fun ride. Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans has been really good so far as well, gorgeous animation as well as kinda breaking the gundam formula and giving the franchise a breath of fresh air. Hopefully after the RoF arcs the series will regain some steam in the ratings department.
Going on hiatus. Too much stuff in RL to deal with for me to keep up with posts here for now. Was fun, hope you all have a nice day and future! Volt signing off.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
It's been on-and-off for several years. There was a new two cour series in 2014 and a sequel to that series in 2015.Retan wrote:Is kindaichi Case Files a long running series? Also thanks for the update Irreality.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I think most people realized Champa and Vados weren't going to be seen much even just judging by the preview, besides most people already knew what they looked like, so there was nothing earth shattering about them, other then another sign universe 6 is getting closer.

So basically everything above super has had it's time to shine, and gain a faithful following? (Not that Dragonball hasn't of course but you know)

Well, we are back above Yokai Watch.Sodhi wrote: Oh wow champa and vados not enough to attract viewers as some people were speculating.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
And since Sazae-san, Conan, Maruko-chan, Shin-chan, Doraemon and One Piece always come on top we can ignore the first six places. So, in a way, Dragon Ball was number two this week.

I think it's mostly due to the fact that most viewers don't even know who the hell Champa and Vados are.Sodhi wrote:Oh wow champa and vados not enough to attract viewers as some people were speculating.irreality wrote:Week Nov 2-8 2015

Spoiler:
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I honestly think beating Yokai Watch and Case Files is the best we can hope for. It's near impossible to crack the top six no matter who you are. Those six are institutions.
On hiatus.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
It will be interesting to evaluate the ratings once we get completely new material. Not starting with new material, must have let those with less patience disconnect. I think when we get into the Universe 6 Arc we might get a chance to catch up to, at least One Piece. Are they still in Dressrosa? I assume they'll have a filler arc soon, so ... you never know.
The DVR fight is more interesting, in 4 episodes One Punch took our spot. We will have a close fight in the next few weeks, Gintama and Mobile Suit Gundam are also - currently - rivals to Super.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
They are still in Dressrosa in the anime (the arc didn't "officially" end in the manga until like two months ago), but an extended filler arc is unlikely. Toei's standard policy with One Piece since 2008 or so is to adapt exactly one manga chapter per anime episode to reduce the need for full-on filler arcs, and on the occasions when they do have filler arcs these days they tend to be brief (the last one was only 3 episodes).LightBing wrote:Are they still in Dressrosa? Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I think beating One Piece will be harder than beating Kindaichi. Just like Kindaichi doing well is catapulting Conan to the top, since it is the intro show to the other one, Super doing well is also likely to boost One Piece ratings. Since the live ratings of Super and One Piece are linked in this way, by being in sequential time slots on the same channel, I think it will be very difficult to ever overtake.LightBing wrote:It will be interesting to evaluate the ratings once we get completely new material. And Dragon Ball, a franchise alive for +30 years, is what?!Chuquita wrote:I honestly think beating Yokai Watch and Case Files is the best we can hope for. It's near impossible to crack the top six no matter who you are. Those six are institutions.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
It's an institution too, it's just those top 6 have been running non-stop with no extended breaks for so long that maybe people just feel obligated to keep watching? I've never followed a show that's continually aired new episodes as long as most of those top 6 have. The longest shows I've ever watched were ones that have lasted like...6 years? 8 years? I can't imagine following new episodes week to week for as long as even the youngest of that group have (One Piece is the youngest I think, that's been running since 1999. That's 16 years. O_O ). It's like someone who kept up with SNL week to week. Or The Simpsons.FortuneSSJ wrote:And Dragon Ball, a franchise alive for +30 years, is what?!Chuquita wrote:I honestly think beating Yokai Watch and Case Files is the best we can hope for. Also, Super's got an unfortunate airtime. Sunday morning is not Wednesday evening. Z ran Wednesday evenings in Japan if I remember correctly; much more lucrative timeslot (which to my knowledge doesn't exist at all anymore for anime; I'm pretty sure it's variety shows or the news that airs in Z's old timeslot).
Conan and Case Files are evening shows. One Piece airs immediately after Super. I don't know what time of day Sazae-san, Maruko-chan, Shin-chan, or Doraemon air.
