Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
I've played just about every game since Budokai 1, I own all of Kai, seen all of Z and own parts of the manga. I can safely say the story is not the most important part of the game for me. Especially when it comes to Raditz-Cell. I don't mind if it's there, and yes at times it can be fun, but I'm perfectly ok with game creators taking liberties and shaking things up. At least it would be something new and different; and possibly even...*gasp* fun.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

I agree with DNA that it would be nice if we got better written What If stories. Most of them makes no sense like Fat Buu vs. Janameba in the first Sparking game and Piccolo wishing back Daimo to become complete.

Well, it might not make a lot of sense but it is pretty cool. And actually, whether it makes sense or not is debatable.Hellspawn28 wrote:Most of them makes no sense like (...) Piccolo wishing back Daimo to become complete.

Wait, I though Shin Budokai was just a retelling of Movie 12 with other characters shoe-horned in?KentalSSJ6 wrote:Shin Budokai actually had a few cool story ideas. I liked some of the time traveling they did, seeing Videl squeal over how cute she thought Cell saga Gohan was, Vegeta actually using a Kamehameha to help finish Janemba with Goku, all the little things made for a interesting story, not to mention the one where Vegeta actually kills Cell in his second form.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

In Buu's story mode in BT1/S1 that Super Buu kills everyone. So how did Buu turn back into Fat Buu and it would make more sense if it was Super Buu. I think DBZ games need to add battles that never happen like in the second BT/Sparaking game. That game had Cell and Freeza together in Fusion Reborn and Goku fighting Radditz on King Kai's Planet. Why not do that again? Add battles in the Super 17 saga to make the saga longer like GT Vegeta vs. King Vegeta.

I would agree, but based on past experiences I don't know. I mean, I'll use one past story as an example.Hellspawn28 wrote:In Buu's story mode in BT1/S1 that Super Buu kills everyone. Freeza lands on Earth thirsty for revenge, Akkuman decides to step in, confident his Akkumaitosen will allow him to win. This in theory not only makes sense, but it sounds fun and exciting. The reality is that you get to fight a bunch of soldiers, then Freeza, then Cold, all of it with corny lines and dull commentary. Yawn.
They've got to find a way to make it exciting. I would recommend actually making a god damned fucking effort and like Budokai 1 use the in-game models to tell the story. Having your models static whilst flapping their mouths just makes it look like a kid playing with action figures. It's fucking ridiculous.

I liked the what-if story of Raditz in Budokai Tenkaichi 2, it was interesting to see Raditz as a good guy

I really liked the what-if stories in Budokai Tenkaichi 1 and 2. With 1, I liked the scenario where all of the Saiyans rebel against Freeza and fight him on namek. I think during the end of the Cell scenario, it said Dr. Gero started to gather cells from even more powerful warriors, then it showed images of Majin Boo. It's been awhile, so I'll probably have to check it again. The villain team-up was pretty cool, too. I liked the actual battles, such as Bojack Vs Ultimate Gohan and Broly Vs Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta. I might need to play that again.

I've tried covering them for my project now turned blog, but I find them so dull... I'll eventually add them though.

I hope Angry Joe will review the game. I have no idea if he knows about the game, but I did send him a tweet about it.

I'm still looking forward to playing the game. Everyone seems to be acting like anyone has actually played the final product. I mean, all we have is two peoples' initial demo impressions and some gameplay videos.
I'm not saying the game will end up being good, but I'm still going to withhold judgment until I, myself, get my hands on the final product.

Really? Uhh, so, what you're saying is, you're justified in this circle jerk of hate--but I, bringing in a little bit of sense and devil's advocacy to the mix are not? You say "Not this again" as if everyone, for the past several pages, hasn't been harping on and on about "LOL DIS GAEM SUX". Come on now, I expect this sort of thing from YouTube... but Kanzenshuu?TheGmGoken wrote:![]()

You took that wrong. what I meant by "Not again" is that every few months we get someone who say "But we haven't played the game so we can't make a judgement". Not saying you're not making sense. I'm saying the judge of trailers, gameplay footage, and demos is to make us want to buy the game and make an opinion of the subject. What you mean "Expect this for Youtube". All I said was "Not this again" and gave an explanation.Thanos wrote:Really? Well, the fact that we know how to play the game without even touching it says a lot. It only has one 5-hit combo (pressing Δ 5 times, no hit charging, not any other combo at all), one 3-ki blast row (pressing ☐ 3 times, no ki charging), 2 unique moves that are perfomed each by pressing 1 button (like the signature move in Raging Blast), a special attack (ex: Kamehameha), an ultimate attack (ex: Genki Dama), Synchronize Rush, Meteor Chain, and revive. That's it. That's the game, really.Thanos wrote:I'm still looking forward to playing the game. Everyone seems to be acting like anyone has actually played the final product. James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

You don't need to play in trash to know it's trash I don't see why someone would say you can't say a game looks bad off the videos and reviews.
It may turn out much better when you get your hands on BOZ but there is more than enough info on the game to make a first impression.

Fine argument with not judging something without playing it, but after countless DBZ games in the same format, I think that we can. Being it some RPG like Final Fantasy, OK.
