I can't speak for everyone else of course, but for me it's not really 'excitement' per say, it's just...the idea is so ludicrous that if this were anyone but Toriyama, I wouldn't have high expectations at all. But it is Toriyama, seemingly at least. If anyone can make an insane concept like that work wonderfully, it's him.

This is pretty much my reasoning for why I like it. Toriyama-involvement (and especially motivated-Toriyama-involvement) gives me more confidence in the final product.

It's in the same vein that one of the deities in the series that oversees an entire region of land is a talking cat. It's not some groundbreaking revelation, but it's certainly a more welcome tidbit than battle powers and "who is stronger?" nonsense.

Excuse me while I tilt my head to the side like a cat and see if it makes any more sense from this angle. That really does sound like the kind of insanity that only Toriyama could come up with and make it work though.

Quick question, is this Shouko Nakagawa the same person as this one? http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... p?id=64237
"Saint Seiya Omega (TV) as Athena/Saori Kido"

Hey, I take offense, Athena would never sell out the Earth to another god, she always fights against them! lol

Toei has to be trying at this point, there's a limit to coincidence (like, when the Japanese voice actor of Phoenix Ikki went on to voice Captain Ginyu...and when he was replaced in the Hades OVAs for the Guy who voiced Kamina, later on that actor went to voice Captain Ginyu in Kai >_>).

Don't know the judo champ, but she sounds enthusiastic, so that's fine by me, if it's a good role (or at the very least, not too long).

Gotta say, I really want to see this movie. I hope, unlike the last few specials, that this comes over to the States, and with not too long a wait...The villain looks awesome, the clips we've seen look nice, and I'm curious as to the background of our villains.

And the spoilers begin lol. The whole fish thing kind of reminds me of avatar with the whole moon spirit and everything. I wonder what this fish really is. I want to see Goku try to eat it!

The "oracle fish" thing doesn't seem that far out to me. It almost makes a sort of cosmic sense.

It's official, the big power-up that Goku receives to defeat Birusu is from eating the Oracle Fish.

I dunno, I just don't see what's so weird about a fish - that we know next to nothing about - given the context of the series itself. This is a series that has a horny, talking pig (who happens to be able to transform), a martial arts master cat who somewhere resides on the godly totem pole, and our lead hero used to decide what gender someone was by patting their crotch. Or if you want to go into Dr. Slump territory...talking poop. On a stick (eat your heart out, Jeff Dunham  ).

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion of course, but given all the rest of DB, this seems pretty par for the course. Now, will it actually be pleasing when we get to see it, that remains to be seen.

...What if the oracle fish is related to/the ghost of/somehow connected to the big fish that Goku killed at the start of the series.

I know, I'm reaching. But it'd be hilarious.

That's how I feel.

But for me, it might be a combo of that, and being a comics reader. I'm used to a lot of godly/cosmic concepts. Even the "weirder" ones.

I highly doubt the fish is going to have a pivotal role in this. Characters voiced by "special guest" actors never do. I'm expecting three or four lines from it at the beginning of the film before it vanishes or goes home or gets destroyed.

I'm enjoying all the ideas being thrown around, though. I love it that they're not afraid to get a little wacky, especially since we're in the "Z" era.

I'm thrilled they're not afraid to get wacky with this. :3 One of my bigger preliminary worries about this film was that it'd be so super-serious (and thus, boring, to me.)

I don't mind some seriousness, and it's necessary to make things matter and make you care about the characters and the situation they're facing, but I need some brevity in there somewhere.

Agreed about the "guest actors only get a few lines" thing. Possible that Shoko-fish will make its prediction to avoid being eaten by Birusu, but then Birusu by nature of being a god of destruction (and also a cat) eats Shoko-fish anyway.

I can easily see the Olympic-Policewoman having only a few lines too, probably typical police stuff.

I don't get it, but I don't see how a fortune-telling fish can be entertaining just because "it sounds Toriyama-ish." GT has a transforming tanuki and a planet that makes the capitalism of America look like a game of monopoly. Are those Toriyama-ish too? I'm seriously asking. But, then again I never really found Toriyama's silliness to be funny. I'm one of those fans who really like the action in DB rather than the toilet humor.

Comedy's a tricky thing. I think it, like most genres, is equal parts concept and execution, however comedy's probably one of the hardest to do. I think it's easier to make someone cry than to make them laugh because what each person thinks is funny I feel is more diverse than what each person thinks is sad.

GT's loaded with poor execution all around, not just from a comedic standpoint. The whole of GT is just...there's a reason why many fans have done their own rewrites of GT. I don't think GT makes for a good example for this situation though. DB/Z filler episodes work as a better example for comedic non-Toriyama-involved stuff.

Ah, I'm more of a fan of the lighter side of DB, (The redone "Plot to Destroy" was boring to me, but I loved 2008's "Ossu! Goku and Friends Return.") so obviously when silly stuff pops up like Pilaf Gang and Vegeta with that face, I'm going to feel good about the chances of me enjoying this movie. I can see how someone who favors the actiony stuff wouldn't care for it though. It's a differing tastes thing.

I agree about the differing tastes thing, and I can see how that'd make the fish thing all the weirder for some people. I hadn't actually thought about that - to anyone that loves DBZ but isn't particularly fond of original DB, it is going to be a little odd.

I'm in a lucky position with my own preferences. I love the action, I love the comedy. So long as it's done well, I can enjoy anything DB sends me.

Oh I like both too (action and comedy) and I have fairly high hopes for each with BOG.

I'm so grateful Japan's time zone is practically half a day ahead of the time zone I live in; due to the timing of other rl stuff, the time zone thing specially works to my advantage this weekend since (hopefully) info about VJump should appear Sunday evening (my time) instead of Monday evening.
It's not even a patience thing; Sunday evening just works better for me than Monday evening for this particular upcoming week.

I hope there's more info in there than what's already appeared about these two guest voices. I really, really want some more new plot info.
