"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I like GT for what it is but still it makes no sense now with super timeline.
And peoples headcanon theories do not help with it

The Doma arc (the one with Dartz right ?) was my favorite arc and showed that with the right writer filler can be just as good as canon. The virtual arc was also really well done. I liked how it gave us more info about Kaiba and his rise to power.Noah wrote:I enjoyed the Virtual World and Doma arc (Waking the Dragons) and I acknowledge that none are part of the main continuity.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
If I hated Super, why in the world would I go out of my way every Saturday to not only watch the raw and English sub episode back to back, but to watch the English Dub I recorded on my DVR right afterwards? I may have a lot of criticism with Super and their lack of attention to details, but I still love the series. I'm a Dragon Ball fan. Even if it's crap. My only problem is I wish the people at Toei loved the series just as much so they couldn't mess it up so frequently.Totamo wrote:You do realize you hate super and people actually like it, right? Seeing people daily dismiss GT as being relevant and then all of a sudden seeing Japan celebrate it with Super, Z, and DB just warms my heart
I'm not going to get into the GT vs super argument because quite frankly, its dumb as hell. Some people hate on these series for things Z did that they praise and some give one leeway for what one did.
Both used nostalgia heavily but only one has made it to 100 episodes plus and is actually succeeding in what i was created to do, despite airing in a harsher time with a harsher schedule while the other all the tools to bounce ratings up but was still canceled, broke the back of what was already a dying franchises and remains one of 7 things I strongly hate that carries the dragon ball name
How i predict the tournament will end:

It should have been like:
-Magenta -> Saiyajin God.
-Blue -> Super Saiyajin God.
-New form -> Saiyajin Angel.
-Next (Rainbow fanmade a.k.a. SSJ5 )-> Super saiyajin Angel....(Sarcasm).

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
You're right in GT's current state it simply cannot exist as a sequel to Super. But, perhaps Goku and Vegeta instead of gaining SSJ4 they simply master SSJB giving it a a Great Ape look. Maybe, Superme Kai and Kibito decide to defuse in an earlier date. Maybe, Gohan's just rusty again? It has been nearly ten years since he fought in the ToP. Perhaps Beerus and Whis repeatedly do show up? Maybe when Omega Shenron is going to destroy the universe with his negative energy, it's all the universes.precita wrote:GT cannot fit into Super's canon at all. It's completely impossible:
- Goku and Vegeta never use Super Saiyan God again, and Super Saiyan 4 comes out of nowhere
- Supreme Kai and Kibito are fused again, which would make no sense
- Gohan goes Super Saiyan again, seemingly losing his Ultimate form once more
- Beerus/Whis and all other universes are of course never mentioned or exist
- The Super 17 arc flat out destroys all of Android 17's development as a family man and park ranger
- Bebi and other super-powered warriors in Universe 7 like Ledgic or Rilldo makes no sense because Buu was the strongest being in their universe, there shouldn't be anyone above him
- Freeza is seemingly back in Hell again, and has no golden form
- Emperor Pilaf, Shoe and Mai are now really old like they aged regularly instead of little kids or adults (which they would be if they age like the rest of the kids)
- Trunks and Mai are not dating nor are they a couple, which doesn't fit into the current timeline
It can't fit in.
Super 17 arc can simply have 17 be a park ranger, and a family man before he becomes the ultimate android. Dragon Ball always shows up the supposed strongest being in the universe. Maybe, Freeza does have the Golden form? It's easy to imagine that the Pilaf Gang botched up a wish, and turned really old. Maybe the two of them break up? GT can easily be a thing the moment Toei wants it.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
The mental gymnastics people use to try and force GT into Super's timeline is absolutely comical.
What, so Frieza suddenly gets sent back to the filler version of Hell instead of the one Toriyama conceived for him and purposely chooses not to transform at all when he gets uncharacteristically stomped by base Goku? Emperor Pilaf and the gang suddenly want to be old and decrepit again? Goku and Vegeta decide to abandon their God forms for shits and giggles? Supreme Kai and Kibito decide to fuse again because... why?
It makes no sense even if you think it's technically possible, and as I've said in the past, even GT fans should by all rights be against the attempt to fit them both into the same timeline because it retroactively makes the whole premise of their show look utterly goofy. If something official like Xenoverse can treat them as separate continuities, I don't see why the fanbase can't.

Re: screenshots
Well, I probably won't miss much (based on what I watch Super for) if I miss the live of this one and have to catch it later. I presume the first half is the end of the 17 vs Ribrianne and the second half is Gohan and Piccolo vs what's left of Team Gowasu.
I'll try to catch it, but if I can't I'll just watch it several hours after and keep my phone dark in between.

Just because GT was in the timeline graph doesn't mean it's canon with DBS people.

There was also a poster which included Beerus and GT in the same timeline back in 2013.OLKv3 wrote:Just because GT was in the timeline graph doesn't mean it's canon with DBS people.

You mean just like how Super Uub appears here beside Kaioshin of East? That means nothing, all the blurb surrounding it doesn't speak a word about GT's Uub. Just because had Beerus next to GT stuff doesn't mean that it means something.Low Tone G wrote:There was also a poster which included Beerus and GT in the same timeline back in 2013.

I don't get it either. You can loved GT and not want it to fit in Super's timeline since your show have to be rewritten in order for it to fit the current timeline.Marlowe89 wrote:The mental gymnastics people use to try and force GT into Super's timeline is absolutely comical.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
The preview from last week essentially confirmed Goku's involvement, but does his participation need to be spotlight almost every episode? Seriously, I think Baba's Tournament offered more leeway for the subsidiary characters to shine without needless entanglement by Goku. Regardless of his protagonist status, he doesn't need to be parceled out over 90% of the time in these arcs. #17's involvement is somehow becoming wearisome also. I'm questioning how much longer the animators will choose to commit themselves to him before shifting the focus over to some other potentially worthy faces. My greatest interest with this episode lies in Gohan and his potential exploits against Universe 10 and Botamo. Piccolo also seems to be staging his own appearance. Will he finally earn himself an elimination? Those are the upcoming questions I'm gripped with, not how many more trophies Goku will get to place on his wall.Kanassa wrote:Quoting from the animation thread:
