Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
For stuff like BOG news, I don't trust Wiki all that much. The summary they have there reads like a cobbled-together version of stuff that's already known with the writer's personal naming preferences tossed in (aside from that last sentence which as far as I can tell is completely made up; there's no source anywhere saying Birusu defeats everybody one by one.).
It's mid-late afternoon in Japan right now; maybe someone will upload a scan of one of those early new Weekly Jump or VJump pages with the new movie info on them some time soon. I can hope anyway.

How is it a fanfiction?! It's a copy of what's in the INTRODUCTION section of the official website http://www.dragonball2013.com/Fox666 wrote:Probably it's just a fanfiction.

I know what he's talking about. The proportions of the body in relation to the head are not those of the Buu saga/End of Z.
1995?

2008

2013

It didn't bother me that much, but is simply because the animators are not the same anymore. There's nothing else they can do about it.
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Buu arc Vegeta's got curves (and looks more stylishly drawn) compared to current animator renditions. XD
I guess if I wanted to try and create an "in-universe" type answer, I'd say that him wearing the armor covers some of it up, but really I think that with how tight it is his body shape should still be visible with it.
Vegeta's barely in the current trailer though, so I'll wait until more new screenshots or clips are available before deciding.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
yeah plus they had lots of farther shots where they tried to fit his and others whole bodies inframe widescreen without any of their features going out of frame, so it felt mini/squished a bit.
But yeah just cus of animator changes I guess. I was rewatching the Saiyan saga orange bricks there and it reminds me of how great (even if old) that and all the Dragon Ball (pt 1) animation/drawing style was. Especially for Piccolo, I always hated Piccolo's later animation.

I don't really care about the proportions, I care about the character's face and hair. I'm hoping that unlike the previous two specials, this film will look a little less like Yamamuro's work the whole way through.

It's the same Character Designer that it's been for nearly twenty years, Yamamuro Tadayoshi.soulnova wrote:

come to think of it, why is Vegeta even wearing the armour again?Chuquita wrote:Buu arc Vegeta's got curves (and looks more stylishly drawn) compared to current animator renditions. XD

From what I've gathered, he didn't wear it in the Buu arc because:Majin Steve wrote:come to think of it, why is Vegeta even wearing the armour again?Chuquita wrote:Buu arc Vegeta's got curves (and looks more stylishly drawn) compared to current animator renditions. XD

-You're not allowed to wear special protective gear like armor while participating in the Tenkaichi Budoukai (which is why Gohan's Great Saiyaman outfit is stripped down a bit when he enters) so Vegeta had to substitute a regular shirt/pants.
-All the other points where Vegeta is shown in that arc are when he's just practice-training (sometimes with or without Trunks); I guess he doesn't feel he needs armor for that. Or boots on one occasion.
I do prefer his Buu arc outfit though to be honest. It also meshes in with the "amount of clothing Vegeta wears decreases with each arc" unintentional theme that seemed to be going on.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Yeah I thought that was intentional thematic character development. Shame. Maybe it's because that's his most 'famous' outfit.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
It's possible Vegeta's gradual clothing loss matching his character development is an intentional visual aid; it's one of those things I can't really tell because it's Toriyama. I'd like it to be intentional though. (Though I guess if it were and they did another manga arc, he'd have to end up going shirtless or something if that trend had to continue. XD )
I also think the Cell arc outfit is his most famous; at least in the U.S.

Can you imagine Vegito with a variation of that armor as part of his costume?

That's a little misleading. That animation style was off-modeled. Here's a better comparison.soulnova wrote:ringworm128 wrote:He looked normal to me.Majin Steve wrote:I didn't like how they animated that 2008 OVA. Vegeta looked like a Chibi.Perhaps you're thinking of Tarble.

1995?
(first image sniped)

As you can see, even back in 1995, Vegeta looked slender. He hasn't changed since back then.

Didn't Vegeta say his armor was also for formal wear? It is Bulma's birthday after all. That spandex really hides the muscles lol.

Which makes me hope the game will provide spoilers for what sort of special powers each of them have.
If there are any spoilers on the page, they're not in the screenshot at least. I translated that and all I got was pre-videogame-battle banter.

I wouldn't mind seeing fan art of this. I've also wondered what the heck Vegetto's clothes would look like if they fused wearing their Uub tournament clothing... o_OMarco Polo wrote:Can you imagine Vegito with a variation of that armor as part of his costume?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
The film probably will. On Ossu! Kaette Kita Son Gokū to Nakama-tachi!! Yamamuro had Hideki Kubo, Ide Takeo, and Tate Naoki acting as Animation Supervisor Assistants. You can espicially see Tate's influence in a few shots with how loose the animation is (although that might just be because he did the key animation for those shots). For a film likely to be three times as long as the aforementioned special, I'm sure Yamamuro has whatever veterans he can helping to pick up the slack with the animation supervising, espicially since he is also working on Dragon Ball Heroes commercials and the like. If Hosoda Masahiro and Yamamuro allow it some other key animators may very well be allowed to break away from the designs more with their cuts, too (like Tate usually does, for example). In fact, I'd say that shot of Pilaf and company reacting might be a Tate cut, considering how lose some of the line work is.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't really care about the proportions, I care about the character's face and hair. Safe to say, the movie's going to be able to break away from the confines of cheaper projects like Dragon Ball Heroes commercials or a quickly produced special like Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock or Dragon Ball: Super Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku.
