What? Did you even read the manga? Buu was obviously able to sense Ki, or else he wouldn't have been able to pull off that attack. Even if for some reason you think an attack like that can be done without being able to sense Ki, later on Buu while fighting Gotenks senses Gohan's Ki from the Sacred World of Kais.
After that, absorbing Piccolo surely gave him very good ki sensing abilities. Vegetto was just making fun of him, and he probably wasn't focused in his battle with Vegetto.

I did read the manga and Super Boo doesn't register Gohan until he's basically there already and you don't need to sense chi to here someone who's almost at your location flying there with super speed. .

I keep seeing this, and its just so nonsensical...Zamasu didn't want to destroy just Earthlings, he wanted to erradicate all the ningens in all the parallel worlds. Not to speak Goku Black was way stronger than Super Boo and destroyed entire races without problems. Only Trunks survived, and because they let him live.(I'm using the manga as the story, of course. Black is just a dumb incompetent in the anime).

And he could have wished all the ningens to die and never steal Goku's body (Hell, he could have just asked to be more powerful and/or kill Zeno, trough we don't know if he knew about him). And that was not only not what he wanted when he stoled it, but also it would be also underwhelming for the character itself. He would not have killed them by his own hands. And again, as I said, had he used that attack on Earth, he would have never unlocked Rosé. As far as we know he may even have done a similar attack in some of the planets he erradicated. He needed Trunks to live trough, in order to get stronger.

Okay, so why involve the Super Dragon Balls at all? If the whole arc suddenly comes crashing an burning when it's pragmatic villain does the most unpgramatic thing possible which would easily accomplish his goal, it's a bit of a problem. In a series with plenty of magic bullshit that can get Zamasu into Goku's body without causing this issue, Toriyama fucks the pooch by having the DBs be a part of it.
Hell, even a throwaway line where Black says "I tried to simply wipe you out with the Super Dragon Balls but it seems as though whoever created them didn't make them entirely limitless in power!" would've been good enough compromise. Toriyama isn't beholden to someone else' whims, he didn't need to write it this way but he did and it fucks things up needlessly.
Also, Black doesn't need Trunks, he can literally go to two other timelines and fight a Goku who'd help amp his power up, he literally has nothing to gain in the anime by fighting a dude who's already on his level. In the manga its even worse because all he needs to do to get stronger is to have Zamasu almost kill him then heal him up to boost his power.
