Shino Kakinuma was great as Naru in Sailor Moon, so, i wonder how she will handle Videl, (I hope she will get back for New Sailor Moon) still, it is little strange, to replace one veteran actress with another veteran actress. I might be cruel, but, I'm glad Toei finish with Kai. I always find it very cheap cash in.

Shino Kakinuma has already taken the role of Videl in the Crossover, her performance was quite pleasant IMO.
That said, the voice of Yuko Minaguchi is very sexy , it's a shame.
As Cold Skin said, it may give an interesting new vision of the character.

Which crossover? I assume you're talking about the One Piece/Toriko/DBZ thing, but just wanted to check and make sure.

I don't really have any thoughts on the replacement for Babidi, since honestly, I'm not that big on Yanami's work for the character to begin with. I'm pretty upset at the replacement of Videl though, as Minaguchi is one of my favorites out of the original cast. There is that whole studying in America thing if I recall though, so maybe she just plain wasn't available for this? With any luck, she'll still be the main person for the role, and they'll only use this Kakinuma lady at times that Minaguchi is unavailable.Still would suck, but it's better than a permanent replacement.

Well, here's her ANN profile. Hmm...I guess she really was Videl already in that big crossover. I don't remember Videl even talking there though, so maybe that's how nobody really caught that it was someone else other than Minaguchi?

Unless ANN is missing something, it looks like she hasn't really done a whole lot, and nothing that I've seen other than that crossover. I really don't know what to expect from her Videl now.

Oh, and you were right JulieYBM - it's Furukawa's wife, apparently.

Videl had a single line in the crossover. I don't even remember when it was, either. Another oddity, Oolong doesn't appear on screen by Tatsuta Naoki voices him during the battle royale.

She was talking...2 or 3 lines but the few she did, it was good.

I may be mistaken but doesn't it also say in the description that the episode starts with Gohan going to high school? If so, I guess this confirms that the Ano-yo’ichi Budokai has indeed been completely cut. I was pretty sure that it would be, but I know that it was still kind of up in the air since scenes were shown at the end of the Cell arc.

She did, but I have a feeling that was just the grief talking, which is completely understandable. She played Videl again for Battle of Gods after all, and that was the newer Mr. Satain seiyuu.

Although, I guess it's not impossible that she agreed to try it out since it was such a big movie, and found that she just can't do it anymore after all...

Really, I'm enough of this bullshit. Then why was she there in BoG? She herself did state that she just accidentally said some excessive things in her sorrow and she doesn't really want to quit the role.

Somehow, I still feel Kei is going to bash her new voice (and probably acting) no matter what it turns out to be like!

She occasionally comes back and do other works, too. But probably there wasn't enough time for her to join in a one year long show. I think I won't bash Kakinuma if she's good enough. What I like is the character itself and not Minaguchi's voice anyway. Honestly, I'm more worried about Shimada's Babidi more. I love Yanami's awesomely mean sounding performance in Z.

I always found it strange that they went through the trouble of replacing Minaguchi for that one line that any character could have said...

I guess I can understand Yanami stepping down as Bobidi. It's a pretty high-energy role; maybe he just doesn't feel like doing all the screaming? I don't know if I'd be able to do it if I was approaching 83 (though he sounded like he was bouncing off the walls in the new Yatterman show a few years ago...). As long as he's still on the show as the narrator and Kaio, I'm fine.

But man, losing Minaguchi is big. She's one of my favorite Dragon Ball veterans. I sure hope it's just a temporary change until she finishes school.

It seems like there's more recasts in the Japanese version than the English version. Which surprises me, sucks Minaguchi got replaced, but, I'm indifferent to Yanami not being Babidi anymore. I always thought it sounded like his Kaioh pitched up slightly being evil. Kinda of reminds me of Don Brown with his Garlic Jr. just sounding like an evil Kaioh. Not sure how Videl will turn out. Weird to think the dub might end up keeping all of their original voices for this arc while the Original Japanese isn't.

A complete rescoring? Do you mean rescoring the entire series including the pre-Buu arcs? That'd be a real mess once again and there's definitely no point in doing that from a commercial perspective, but honestly, part of me as a DB music nerd definitely wants to see that happening.
