Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"

Some people assume that it will take place three years after Battle of Gods because Beerus asked to be woken up at that date.
But that's not sure, this specific movie could happen without him, and he could come back in a later movie.
We have no proof, but I'm sure those who would like to see Goten and Trunks growing up would like that.

It's now safe to assume that Shenron will initiate the threat when granting the worst wish ever.
Some people assume that therefore, it is forced to take place at least one year after Battle of Gods.
But I doubt it:
- Shenron can grant two wishes since the Boo saga. If his answer counted as a wish, and he left mid-way because of Beerus' intimidating presence, that makes only six months to wait.
- Shenron can be considered as not having granted any wish: he is pissed off because Goku's questions are not actual wishes. Eventually, he just answered a question, didn't have the glowing eyes with the "that's easy" or "that's tough" comment and the "your wish has been granted" line. He didn't use any wish power, so it's pretty much as if someone had told him "oh no, it's okay, we don't need any wish, you can go" with both wishes still unused, meaning Dragon Balls are not deactivated and the plot could be three days after Battle of Gods for all we know (and no change for the situation: same kids with the same size, same person pregnant, no new pregnancy, etc... even no new designs for the core cast, Toriyama just said "I’m drawing the design illustrations for the new character and such after all".).

So in the end, everything's possible: one week after BOG, six months after BOG, three years after BOG...
We simply can't assume anything yet about where between Battle of Gods and the epilogue this new movie takes place...
And we can't even know if the core cast will have any new design or if - much like the crossover special - they will simply keep it on from Battle of Gods, including size, clothes, etc... with the plot taking place the very next day for all we know.

Toriyama said it's a continuation of BoGs. It's highly unlikely he'd make a sequel to that movie without Beerus and Whis playing somewhat of a role in it. You don't make a movie with significant characters just to throw them away in a direct sequel.

We never know. Seems like this new Toriyama is planning things ahead and I'm loving that. Something big will happen 3 years later because Beerus, a guy who loves sleeping, will have his smallest nap. Probably Toriyama wants to introduce some news characters for whats coming later?! Like i said, we never know.

Yeah, Goku making a dumb wish to fight that costs the Earth big time wouldn't surprise me at this point, he's just running out of people in this universe to fight, so he has got to go to other ones to get his fix.

That big event is probably what's going to be happening in this movie. I just don't see Toriyama creating Beerus and Whis as major characters for BoGs and then not having them play any role in a direct sequel. Don't see it happening.

I would shit a brick then throw it and bust the rear window of AT's house if that ever happen. Broli would only show up in this movie if Toei forces the idea down AT's ass in order to make it happen. Having him show up in the movie would create huge plot holes given that Movie 8 and 10 don't fit into the main timeline at all.

Goku VS Beerus fight (who's name escapes me)

Shida Naotoshi did the cuts of Gokuu flying through the ground and battling Beers as they soar into space. He will probably return, although who knows if he will be able to provide much in the way of key animation considering how busy Toei Animation is and how critical he is to a lot of Toei Animation's TV work.

I really hope we get more of the older feel to the fights again, the ugly CG, the jarring zipping around trying to focus on characters constantly on and off screen, it felt way too gimmicky. Just give us the original feel of a straight up focused beatdown, not all this flashy acrobatic garbage. The Opening for BOZ also handled the images of both characters better IMO, the ki effects looked normal again... sadly Toei loves this CG thing now.

Broli character is totally generic at best. I rather have Coola be apart of the manga since you can have Movie 5 fit by removing a few minor things unlike Movie 8, 10 and 11. I don't know why some DB fans feel like that every character and everything needs to exist in one continuity. I see nothing with most characters not existing in the anime or manga. Most characters created by Toei were awful and need to forgotten about.

yeah, is like a lot of fan fictions (EX?) but i try to gustificate it:
1)toriyama says time ago that vegeta probably will be the protagonist of this movie (and who is the only that has a possibility to defeats goku? (except the gods of destructions)
2)toriyama has this "saga" in his mind for a continuations after majin bu arc, and this probably a good final, because valorizes the other characters like who lived in the shadow of goku
3) i don't know, but for some reason, the ssj goku in the artwork has something of evil...

yeah, obviously this is only a my theory..

I do not see Goku being that selfish. Maybe he would wish ony for a gate to access other universes, but not directly for Gods of Destruction to appear on Earth, he surely would want to avoid any risk.

Kanji Question; the "aku" from saiaku; is that more likely to lean towards "bad" (in the Gokû made a selfish wish, now we're in trouble), or towards "evil" (villain gets a hold of the db's and gets to make a wish)?

Only place I've heard of "saiaku" before is that it's the name of the monsters in HaCha Precure.

I still like the idea of ssjg being absorbed by Gokû having negative consequences, as it seemed like it was something that was only supposed to be borrowed by the user, not kept.

Goku is the purest guy ever so I dont see that happening. Vegeta can be the main character without Goku became a villain.

Cooler is way more generic then Movie 8 Broly. I have never seen anyway turn evil with as stupid a reason as Broly did.

I'm still not entirely sure that comment is still applicable to the movie because of how long ago it was made (I'd like to see Vegeta do some cool main character stuff though). It reminds me of the whole makaioshin thing Toriyama talked about and how a good chunk of us thought Whis was one and then he turned out to just be himself.

Re: evil Gokû

If you wanted, you could have it where the ssjg power gets upset at being trapped inside him, possesses him and wreaks havoc, but that feels too far-fetched because you'd think a power summoned by "pure hearts" would be super-understanding and "no sweat it".
