Yes it does, cause people tends to forget that the animated series is the main product of the Dragon Ball Super brand and it's not adapted from a weekly manga like Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z was. Super manga is a side product made only to promote the anime.hardcorefakes wrote:The anime references their own non canon filler arcs yes, but no such things occur in the manga. This does not somehow nullify all of Super's canonicity. If you want to treat the anime and manga as two separate canons (since there are major differences between the two), then that's fine.

How does tha manga promote the anime if the story is released months later? It's not, it was at first, now it's its own thing. It's a side product, that is correct, the anime is the main one.Noah wrote:Yes it does, cause people tends to forget that the animated series is the main product of the Dragon Ball Super brand and it's not adapted from a weekly manga like Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z was. Toyotaro said he would be ahead and giving matetial to the anime long ago, so it's probably happening by now. Well, the take of SSG and SSB has gotten much closer to the manga, for example.

Usually one of anime adaptations job is to promote the source material. Doesn't matter if it's behind, it matters how many people it will reach.Basako wrote: How does tha manga promote the anime if the story is released months later?
Lots of people start reading the source material after being introduced to the anime first. Some of the newest examples in the industry are Shingeki no Kyojin, One Punch Man and Boku no Hero Academia.
It's the opposite with DBS, but the job is still the same even though the manga became something bigger.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I'm not assuming it has changed, I witnessed how it went from a 10 page per month thing, to a complete 40 page story. It totally grew in front of our eyes.Noah wrote:So, you're assuming this changed just because...?Basako wrote:How does tha manga promote the anime if the story is released months later? If it was for promotion, the would tell him to rush it so he could promote the US arc, but it's been in the Zamasu arc until now. It's not promoting the anime anymore. Its doing its on way, it's how it is.
Well, of course the animes end up promoting the mangas they adapt, but that's not why they are done. The power of the TV as a medium is much bigger, it's the most important in a sense, that was also true with Toriyama's DB in the 90s.FortuneSSJ wrote: Usually one of anime adaptations job is to promote the source material. Now, I'm saying the manga is not conceived solely as promotion to the anime as it was at first. There is always a relation and both's success benefit each other, but if it was its only purpose, it would have been promoting the US arc long ago. It's clearly been telling it's own story for a long time.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
By Toei? Probably not. Cheap, underproduced anime is their mark and they won't change it. Which is why Shueisha has to part ways and make partnership with a better studio. And yes Dragon Ball would survive a year or more between seasons, how is that even a question.Totamo wrote:This stupid myth that if anime was seasonal it be better needs to die. Have you seen sailor moon crystal?! It was seasonal and it looked pretty bad a lot of the time. Not to mention, we get 40+ anime every 3 months, look at attack on titan and compare the hype of season 1 to season 2. You think dragon ball would survive that?
The problem with Super is that it was rushed in preproduction and that killed it from the start.
And Shingeki no Kyojin is not really comparable, it's production value is more than I would have in mind for Dragon Ball, and they needed source material. Now that the manga is close to it's end, I woudn't be surprised if they keep doing 12 episodes/year until the story is over.
Side note: we had gone off-topic in the manga thread, so I posted my reply here.

Hate to burst your bubble through the seams, but when is the full single version of "Limit-Break x Survivor" coming out? I remember Chōzetsu Dynamic! just came out two years ago and we're still waiting for its release.

Do you guys think this new poster provides the power ranking for the top fighters of U7? You'll notice Android 17 and Frieza are flanking Goku over his left and right shoulder. And then Vegeta and Gohan are behind them. Usually Vegeta and Gohan are right next to Goku. So I found that interesting.
So perhaps the power ranking for Universe 7 is
1) Goku
2) Frieza
3) Android 17
4) Vegeta
5) Gohan

"Gohan, let it go. It is not a sin to fight for the right cause. There are those who words alone will not reach. Cell is such a being. I know how you feel Gohan, you are gentle, you do not like to hurt. I know because I too have learned these feelings. But it is because you cherish life that you must protect it. Please drop your restraints. Protect the life I once loved. You have the strength, my scanners sensed it..." -Android 16

With the continual tease of Goku's Saiyan with eyes of Silver form, not really now. Especially with 105 also being described as the "middle" stage, I had already thought we were there, at least hope Goku and Jiren start fighting here at least, or heck even Toppo re-match.Dragon Ball Gus wrote:Who is ready to witness the return of Super Saiyan God (in the anime)? This post is more suitable for the strength thread. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=30781KingKaash wrote:Do you guys think this new poster provides the power ranking for the top fighters of U7? That was probably just done for advertising.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I always thought the increasing number of pages was due the arc having much to tell, Champa arc was just a simple tournament and Future Trunks arc was all about another future crises, time travels, retreats and long battles.Basako wrote:I'm not assuming it has changed, I witnessed how it went from a 10 page per month thing, to a complete 40 page story. You remember me something, did they already released the full soundtrack of the Future Trunks arc?SilverPlaqueVII wrote:Hate to burst your bubble through the seams, but when is the full single version of "Limit-Break x Survivor" coming out? We have an explanation as to how Dyspo can damage Hit. From Herms:
Hit figures out that Dyspo moves super-fast the moment before Hit time skips. He can momentarily become thousands of times faster.

SSJ God is faster than regular Super Saiyan but uses less energy than SS Blue and Goku can alternate between SSJG and SSJB.
