Can someone tell me why some people think that the characters who have had big fights so far are the fighters that are going to do well?

Pure wank, really. There are people who think Kale's going to last "into the finals" (whatever that even means), and that Gohan is going to beat Jiren....with magic, I guess.

I mean, they've been promoted, but I doubt some of these characters are going to be major players in the ending fights.

We have many clues implying Gohan could surpass Goku again, like the whole " I'm aiming at an ultimate form no one got before, taking a different path than you dad" ( not the 100% exact phrase, but similar)
And I see no point in hyping something like that, only to make Gohan fall out and Goku get another form
Goku will get the limit breaker state, Gohan something even stronger imo

This is just one of many clues, we also have the whole character rebuilding into a warrior minded one, something we never had before apart from the brief ssj2 moment VS Cell, the opening sees father and son back to back, Goku chose Gohan as the leader too, and said U7 won't fall because there's always him, that u7 level is higher because of him

Am I seeing too much in this? Maybe, or maybe not

Also, he has a lot of merchandise and featuring everywhere, with Goku and 17, maybe Vegeta too but less

So imo Krillin > Roshi > Tien > Piccolo > 18> Vegeta > 17 > Frieza

Then Goku and Gohan will carry U7's fate 'til the end or interruption

OH, and maybe many of us forget this, but there's also a time limit, it's not impossible the countdown reaches 0 with universes having the same team members surviving, going into a whole new tournament phase ( the strange world survival Hunger Games style teased in the ending?!)

There's only a few more things I want badly AF:

More badass 17, it's one of the best things I've ever seen in the whole franchise honestly, imo the best chara treatment by now, among the u7 participants ;

Make Piccolo great again please, we need him, though basically Toei, Toriyama and everyone else consider him garbage or Gohan rage's fuel;


And my most important one, Gohan having another badass, central role, I want a sort of Cell arc remake, I'm still suffering the Ultimate Vs Buu delusion

Probably because they also might coincide with the characters that were largely promoted? Meaning it encourages people too look forward to those characters.

Doesn't everyone think there are too many 'hyped' characters for them to actually all do something.

Well, obviously not all of the ''hyped" characters are going to last right until the end, but it all comes down to how long and how much "directorial importance" they're each going to get before they get eliminated.

Dunno if this has been noted but saw on my TL that Toshio was praising Toriyama for the potential Goku's new form, guess that's that, dunno why people thought a newbie like Toyo was gonna design something so significant.

I really don't mind if Gohan is the main hero this time, but god I would hate it if it was a Cell Saga situation again. That just sounds so lame to me. Also, those things aren't actual clues of Gohan surpassing Goku. The most that confirms is that Gohan wants to go down his own path of getting stronger. Nothing about his development or what he said had implied he would surpass Goku (of course it doesn't mean that there's no chance he won't). As for Cell Saga, there are some pretty clear similarities between this saga and Cell Saga like how Gohan is seemingly the guy Goku is putting a lot of faith in, of course there's some striking differences like how unlike in the Cell Saga, Goku isn't only putting his faith in Gohan, he's relying on his own strength as well.

5 seconds of Hit being a 'badass' just shows that 17 is no 'badass'.

Piccolo hype didn't start until the reveal of the Namkeians while Tien and Frieza hype didn't start properly until episode 96 which could be why we have nothing for these three yet.

Hype from pre-tournament is already starting to fall apart and has there been any real merchandise hype?

Why would there be 5 fighters from Universe 7? Gohan, Frost and Kale will be useless here.

Who do you think will reach the top 10 ? Goku, Vegeta, Freeza, Hit, Toppo & Jerin are pretty much gaurenteed. They've been keeping quite on the Namakiens so I'd assume one would make it. I'd put Kale there based on her taking on Blue Goku but they're very inconsistant with its power and said that fat thing was on her and Jerin's level yet the gap between the 3 of them is huge.

The ending should be replaced for episode 109 so I don't see why people are basing predictions of it.

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much stock in any of the endings. Boogie Back showed a bunch of stuff that never happened during its tenure either, like Goku, Vegeta and Gohan fighting together on the tournament stage.

All the attention right now is focused on Goku's new form and Jiren, but I'm really starting to wonder if Frieza is hiding some new power or technique that transcends The True Golden Frieza. He's spend over a year stewing in his own hate and he's acting way too cavalier and confident in his plans against the gods. Previously Beerus had him crapping in his little black speedos, but now he's not even fazed by the Zeno twins. I think he's hiding some cards and I can't shake the feeling that Jiren might end up being something of a red herring and Frieza will take center stage as the arc's big antagonist somehow.

Truth be told, Goku not winning is actually very possible. Toriyama didn't let him win the first two tournaments specifically because everyone expected him to.

I could see it happening. He will probably want to wish to be above Zeno and the Grand Priest refuses to grant Freeza's wish. Freeza would become so angry that he will try to fire a death beam at Zeno and get himself erased for good.

I can't see the Grand Priest being okay with Freeza wishing to be above Zeno. He will probably have to put his foot down. I personally think U11 is going to win and the Pride Troopers are going to feel like that Goku was not a bad guy after all. So wish they back all of the Universes.

That would simply defeat the whole purpose of the setting up a prize for the tournament..
If all he ever wanted to do was say I am more powerful than you so fuck you all these rules, promises, fair game, fair chance won't be there..
Angles don't feel a thing and are neutral, he made a promise and he should keep it..

On one hand we say angels simply serve their respective gods, and on the other assume grand priest should care about who he is serving or who takes over zeno using proper rules, not even by force..
