What does it matter whether Gokuu is a good dad or husband? How is him being a bad dad or husband a bad thing?

It's a character flaw that's harder to accept, family is still a pretty highly valued concept even in media . We expect and are used to seeing parents dedicate themselves fully to their children, see characters believe that family should come before anything else. There is definitely some magnification of that selfish side of his going on, but it rubs a lot of his fans the wrong way that the "worst dad ever" joke gets some official validation. Could be the vestiges of that more conventional hero-like version that many grew up with making this new one look worse by comparison.

So it has nothing to do with Gokuu the fictional character. The fault lies within the viewer that exists in reality being unable to control their emotions and expand their narrow scope of the possibilities of the world and of the world of fiction?

the problem with the next generation concept is that you can't replace the pre-established/developed ones expecting the audience to care about them if we don't even know what there personalities, quirks, likes, and dislikes and mentality are. This is why Boruto and Friends fails as a series and Boruto as a character cause we see no development with him yet or his friends with the exception of Sarada. The Cell Saga And Super Anime nails this concept down Perfectly by not doing at all, by making Gohan And Future Trunks Main Cast Characters alongside with Goku and Vegeta you don't feel any change happening, all you feel is "oh these two dope developed characters fighting alongside there fathers is really cool and there character interactions with them make them feel so real yet interesting". Which resulted in Gohan and Future Trunks becoming the 3rd and 4th popular characters in the series because they are not trying to replace their fathers, all there trying to do is stand out to them, in there own unique, fun and different way! This is also why Goten and Kid Trunks fail as characters sadly

Sarada being the best part of the Boruto franchise aside, the Boruto character has been firmly established and developed in his television series. His resentment towards Naruto and the Hokage position is his major running arc, but he's also been shown on multiple occasions to care for his mom, little sister and friends. Heck, he wasn't even that close to the Class Rep, yet he still went out of his way to try and save her from her emotional self-destruction. In fact, I'd say that story arc calls back to how much Boruto hates change. Losing Sumire would disrupt the flow of his daily life, just as Naruto becoming Hokage disrupted it. For a character who keeps going on about how it's his era now and that the past generation is done for he sure doesn't like change. It's ironic.

Still, the series needs more Sarada. I want to see her become the Ninth Hokage as soon as possible!

On topic, Hokkaido marathon is quite the event from what I've heard. The article says DBS will air on 12 instead of 9 in the morning which it usually does due to the marathon. That's what Google translate gives me.

11 EST is both good and bad for me. Honestly I think 9:30 would be the sweet spot, but I'm interested to see how it goes at 11.

Goku is a horrible father, Piccolo is Gohan's real dad. Look at Vegeta, he's such a model father!
One simply has to get used to that meme despite the huge false and lack of information around it, its basically "you see one bad thing and it defines the person rather than looking at the good he has done" aint that normal? you do one bad thing and its stamped on you, people wont forget that, but you do one good thing and people shrug it off.

It's just an inside joke about an off-universe old debate, it doesn't mean it's a canon fact now. Canonically it would be Vegeta's opinion at most.

And even if Vegeta said that, it's just a manner of speaking, don't take it that literally. Goku doesn't get all this social conventions, even those about the family. Vegeta gets them better, he was a prince once so he is more familiar to social interactions and protocols, even if they are totally different in Earth than in planet Vegeta or Freeza's army. Goku is just too naive, he was raised by grandpa Gohan isolated from any other human contact until Bulma arrived.

That's the general risk of any 'next gen' story. Legend of Korra had the same problem despite having a completely different tone, setting, and themes from Last Airbender. It took to its second season for people to stop comparing the two shows.

However, Boruto have it harder since most of the cast in Naruto are still around and active, unlike Korra where most of the original cast are dead or so old that they're past their prime. So Boruto have a feeling of 'I don't want to watch these kids, give me the adult cast I grew up with'. Plus, Boruto has 'filler' problems from what I've heard since it's following an once a month manga. The worse thing I've heard about it that it's boring, which would be an issue even if it wasn't 'next gen'.

No, it hasn't. The show is literally called Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. You can't tell me with a straight face that the series has stepped out of its predecessor's shadow when it uses its name. Hell, he was never even in it. Kishimoto realized that he couldn't just have Boruto have the same goals as Naruto. He had to turn everything on its head for Boruto to ever succeed as his own character or even within the series.

Pretty much. Also his "likability" is being challenged. People just don't like childish selfishness, and hate that it's a definition that could be applied to Goku. People are just attached to the lovable goofball image.
