Thanks guys but I'm screwed anyways. I don't live in the US and my cable here doesn't have Adult Swim, Cartoon Network is a kids channel 24/7 here.

I tried to simulcast it from the official page but that kinda didn't work and the Toonami stream there was not showing Dragon Ball Super at the time it was on air again. I guess ill have to wait till it gets posted online or something.

Sabat says "it's complicated" in regards to the undubbed OP.

No doubt in my mind FUNi either couldn't get the dubbing rights to the song in time for the broadcast or they simply can't dub it all anymore courtesy of Toei or the original singer and their agency.

Honestly, didn't think Mark matched the range of the original singer to begin with, but still a shame yo see we may never hear the OP dubbed.

He does say "We Are Trying" so it definitely sounds like something's still on the table, if looking a little unlikely
All we can do is wait and see what happens
And not press the parties involved any further, cause god knows they don't need any more stress trying to work this stuff out

My guess is that what complicates this is the fact that an English version by the original singer already exists. Perhaps Columbia Records refused permission to dub this song in English under the mentality of, "Our singer already sang an English version, so either pay for that or don't use an English version at all."
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

So, did anyone else see the ADR Approval credit (it was something like that) in the credits for the Super dub? The credit belonged to someone who worked for Toei so it looks like Toei is actually approving or disapproving of the changes made in the ADR scripts for the dub

Good catch! Yup, done by a Lisa R. Yamatoya. So, whatever script changes there might have been, she's the person at Toei who signed off on them.

Script approval is way, way more common than it used to be. Back in "the day" it wasn't a thing because it was just way more difficult to communicate with the original Japanese company (or rather, way more difficult to communicate with them and still be considerate of the deadlines for completing the episodes). Now, in the age of high-speed internet, it's much easier to communicate.

Here's something else I caught while looking back through the credits. While this dub was done in Texas, there's a credit for "Additional Recording at..." credited to "North Hollywood Sound." That's a recording studio in LA. No way of knowing for sure, but I'm willing to bet that that has to do with Sean Schemmel living in LA. He said FUNimation flies him down to Texas to record Dragon Ball, so I doubt they're having him record everything from there, but my guess is that they might have sent the dubbing materials over to North Hollywood Sound so that Schemmel could come in and do any last-minute re-recordings (possibly necessitated by ADR approval) rather than fly him down to Texas just to re-do small things.

Was this ever the case for Kai?
I've never paid too much attention to the staff credits

Just curious if this practice is new to this show within the Dragon Ball franchise

Agreed.... it's like they're trying to hard. Did he get a new voice actor along with Trunks?

Nope, Goten is still Kara Edwards.

Goten barely gets any screentime in Super. I don't think it matters.

Yeah he's a minor character which is good if they are going to keep that voice for him.. he sounds like a toddler at the moment.. certainly way different from their Kai version. Sure same actor, but totally different.

To me Goten sounded fine. It was Chi-Chi that sounded off.

I was honestly expecting them to dub the OP. Kinda disappointed they didn't.

Very pleased that the dub is back. Everyone sounded fine in this episode, the scripts were pretty accurate from what I could tell except for Goku telling Goten he wanted to protect their family although its forgivable as long as its not blown out of proportion.

Hearing Doc Morgan say "Last time on Dragon Ball Z" was unexpected but it was fine, I understand why Funimation did it, and if anyone can pull it off Morgan can. Was kinda excited to see the dubbed intro, outro and next episode previews but hopefully it'll just give me a reason to get excited when the Blu-Rays come out.

Minus Goten's voice, I really love the dub so far. A few line deliveries made me chuckle such as Goku's "No, I don't watch T.V." to Mr Satan. Chris Rager is fucking awesome as Mr Satan, I will never get enough of that mans voice.

Really excited to watch the next episode to see how Chris Sabat handles those Vegeta scenes at that resort. Should be great.
