Can someone tell me please what the hell is the context of a 9-Star Dragon Ball? And why we need one?

Could it be the last Shadow Dragon?

There's a 9 star ball in the cover of the chapter.

Either a fuck up or it's hinting at something. Seeing as how it was Toyble who drew it, people are thinking it's on purpose. I believe it was a mistake, personally.

I really don't see why people think this will make BoG and RoF non-canon? Why can't it be a story before BoG and RoF?

If Super ends up having just a recap of BoG and RF then it doesn't make them "non-canon", really. It just appears that they won't do it, since Beerus is awake 2 years (?) prior to actually waking up in the movie. So unless Toriyama's memory is really short, it appears all is pointing towards them re-writing stuff.

Not if this happens RIGHT after the Buu saga, no. BoG doesn't happen until 3 years after Buu anyway. When Beerus goes home to "think about the God", he falls asleep. Totally fits.

Not really. Beerus himself says that he has been sleeping for 39 years, still he counts it a catnap(Eng Dub). So being awake and destroying right after Majin Buu saga heavily contradict his own words(and Toriyama's, of course). So this either is after he wakes up and has the breakfast, or way earlier, but than it's a direct contradiction for BOG statements.

I wonder if the 9-star ball was just artistic liberty? But then again, it'd be a really unprofessional choice. The 7 Dragon Balls are just that, the 7 Dragon Balls. There's no way that 'mistake' went through the editors noses.

I think BOG and ROF are AU films now. I think Super is set in the 10 year gap and anything happens in Super is official to the timeline.

It starts before BoG but that doesn't mean that it can't progress through/after RoF. We've seen plenty of time lapses before in DB

I think everyone here understands that. If this show is really a 100+ episodes long there is no way they could make the BOG/ROF story extend that long. we'll go to other worldly plains learning more about the alternate universes. I just hope Toriyama gets to go crazy with this.

I find it really, really hard to believe that the 9-Star Ball is a mistake. It's easy to correct if the mistake is pointed out, and I don't think that the picture has been published without anyone noticing.

It's not like their going to show of the first month of Dragon Ball Super story 2 weeks before it airs, the next chapter will likely be a bit meatier.

I mean... that's not even the whole first episode.

I love the Goku and Goten moment, but it feels like we're already trickling down the Toei/GT pather where characters forget they can fly and shit...

I mean, Goten may be a child, but he's also a Super Saiyan capable of flight. He prooobably should have been capable of saving himself by just holding the steering wheel and floating after he rode over the cliff (even if he had to transform to do it, I don't know how physically powerful his kid body is).
