Whoa what you don't like Attack on Titan why?
Don't get me wrong I like it, interesting concept. But there was so much hype around it that while watching thr first 6 episodes I was expecting something truly amazing to happen and why it's hyped as it is and honestly I felt let down. Potatoe Girl is the only character I like they rest I couldn't care less about especially Eren.
It's taken me 6 episodes to tolerate Eren wheras as I warmed up to say Goku & Bulma from the start.
Sounds to me like you prefer shallower, comedic characters to the more brooding, layered ones. Considering how dark Attack on Titan's cast is, I guess it makes sense that you wouldn't enjoy it.
I agree with Baggie Saiyan on Attack on Titan as well. It's over hype and I didn't care for the main cast neither. I didn't find Attack on Titan to be that shocking. Eren's mom getting alive is not bad as the stuff you see in Akira or in the Devilman manga. Go Nagai has made stuff that would make Attack on Titan look like a Nick Jr. TV show.

Anyways, has Season 7-9 covers been leak yet? I do like the box arts for the Blu-Ray sets despite me not buying them anytime soon.

I'm the kind of viewer who hates the skin tone being too washed out. It's a pet peeve of mine. It makes the release look like a fansub VHS. So, to me, the improvement is pretty big.

It's definitely an improvement this time around, but I still don't consider it a huge upgrade personally.
:o That's actually a pretty good improvement. Nice to see after season 3 was pretty meh. I haven't posted anything in a while, hopefully when season 5 comes out I'll be back to posting as a regular.

Edit: I don't know if anyones posted this yet but the opening for the season sets no longer looks as good, the new opening with the android saga bits seems to be sourced from 16mm film rather than the 35mm used previously.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

I agree with every word of this.
If the characters aren't likeable then that doesn't bode well for the show. Right from episode one I didn't like any of them. Also, my biggest problem is what beef to the titans have against the humans, it said they don't need the humans to survive. Also I dislike the animation too lol.
Season 7 hasn't been officially solicited by FUNi yet so probably in a few weeks I guess something will pop up. I'm hoping Vegetto is on S9 cover. Please please FUNi.

Also, Season 5 has shipped! I'm pretty sure the release date was 24/06/14 (or 06/24/14) Oh well I'm not complaining lol

I'm not a big fan of AoT (I enjoy watching it, but it is over-hyped and I have my own problems with it), but to be fair, the "beef" the Titans have with the humans is more than likely an important plot point to be revealed later on down the road...if it hasn't already been revealed in the manga.

Also, I don't understand what's wrong with the animation? It's anime, of course, but it's really good in most spots. Aesthetically, it's a very nice looking show.

Oh right fair enough. But why couldn't they reveal the reason(s) during the beginning, it's really putting off.

Basically the (bold) lines around character's look really weird too me for some reason.

I agree with you. I don't watch a-lot of anime but I hate the black lines around the characters in Attack on Titan. Just my opinion.

Just wanted to add that so far I'm enjoying the story. I been watching it as it comes on Toonami. :P
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Not sure if already pointed out but I finally got season 1 and they have fixed some audio errors the orange brick had. Like Roshi's hop where?/go where? line and Goku's missing line as he was falling into Hell was reinserted with the Japanese score version.

Also they changed Nathan Johnson's eyecatch music for the first several episodes.

Have you got any video examples of those? :)

The extras get their own disc? Has it been like that for the other sets as well? So if I were to, say, just look for the extras discs, I'd be able to get all of the bonus features without having to put up with cropped DBZ?

You devious, shrewd, little fan. And by that, I mean genius, and something I might have to follow up on myself whenever I get a Bluray player.

Unfortunately, that's only the case for S5 and looking at the other season episode counts it may be the case for S6&7 too.

Not 100%, but from what I can tell, around 58 seconds in, the original show tilts up to show Freeza. To fix their cropping, the camera pans up even further than the show's natural one. You can see where the show stops and the cropping adjustment starts.

The most obvious example is at 1:19. Look at the crop adjust itself as Goku moves his head. It looks so artificial. Again, around 2:34, when Goku brings his head back down, the camera comes down with it.

I mean, at least it shows they put real effort into the cropping. Still, the fact they had to do all of that just to get an 'acceptable' crop is sad.

Yeah, pretty much what I was getting at. Very sad.

Might upload a comparison between that scene cropped on the Blu-ray and that scene from Kai. I'd be interested to see how they differ.

Ugh, I just noticed that when he says "...get away... with this RRRGNG" that the panning starts before his head even starts looking down...

Not only that, but it looks like the panning is at a higher framerate than the film. If they did a frame by frame panning in that shot, it wouldn't have been as noticeable (in shots with a visible background it just doesn't work no matter what). The second digital pan (when his hair flicks yellow for a second) looks incredibly sloppy and haphazard. It reminds me of a shaky cam. I don't even see what the point of the second pan is. Just frame it higher. :/

It's stuff like this that makes me prefer the Orange Bricks.

"90% of you here don't even know what you're talking about (there are a few that do). But the things you say about these releases are nonsense and just plain dumb. Like you Metalwario64"--final_flash
