Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
Shimanuki being second to last credited animator and having very little stuff in the episode is very interesting to me, I guess he's working on another episode at the same time?
It's not often we see the supervisors so low on the key animators list.
So what's the deal with having 3 storyboarders? Is that just to get the storyboard done as fast as possible?

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
Maybe they already begin to work on others storyboards for the upcoming arc?

Yeah, that's my assumption. I'm so not used to seeing multiple storyboard credits on anything but movies. Maybe someone else has a better idea.ArchedThunder wrote:So what's the deal with having 3 storyboarders? Is that just to get the storyboard done as fast as possible?

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
The storyboards for the first handful of episodes should be done by now and they should already be working on the animation for AT LEAST the first episode of the arc, if not (and hopefully) more.Psykomatik wrote:Maybe they already begin to work on others storyboards for the upcoming arc?
I'm surprised it's not something that they've already done tons of times in the past, you'd think that would be one of the first things they would be doing to try and help out the animators.Ajay wrote: Yeah, that's my assumption. I'm glad to see Kakudou return. He must have been called in at the last minute given the use of three storyboard artists for a single episode. I hope he sticks around so that the storyboards can pile up.

Wait, how has nobody brought this up yet? Miuma Kenji was on this episode! I don't think he did anything noteworthy, but it's awesome to know that he seems to be sticking with the series after the awesome cut he (presumably) did in 66. I was a little scared he'd be one and done with the series and I certainly didn't expect him to show up again so soon.

I just assumed he did the ending stuff since it was the most animated of anything.

I feel dumb now, I totally missed that line and I read you post. lol.Ajay wrote:I brought it up in my first post!ArchedThunder wrote:Wait, how has nobody brought this up yet? He's pretty high up in the credits, so I assume he probably did a fair amount of regular stuff too, since the ending wasn't all that animated.
Also we have ANOTHER episode without a recap, this is really strange.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
Storyboarding phase can take weeks by itself. So, they probably wanted to give animators as much time as possible on a already conservative episode.ArchedThunder wrote: So what's the deal with having 3 storyboarders? Is that just to get the storyboard done as fast as possible?

Do you know if commercials take their place or do we actually have longer episodes?ArchedThunder wrote:I feel dumb now, I totally missed that line and I read you post. lol.Ajay wrote:I brought it up in my first post!ArchedThunder wrote:Wait, how has nobody brought this up yet? I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
Yea commercial are the same, they just replace recaps with footage. I guess its because these are one off episodes and they want to create each episode as a separate piece rather than relying on using a previous one. However, next episode is a continuation, so it will be interesting as to what they do. We may see a recap next episode. Purely speculation though.

I feel like seeing Tate filtered with Karasawa. But that's not possible isn't it since both are Supervisor?
Maybe some scenes...

I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me.

Tate has been corrected by other supervisors before, but I get the feeling Karsawa's involvement with the next episode might be similar to Shimanuki's in this one.Gashif Aldi wrote:I feel like seeing Tate filtered with Karasawa. But that's not possible isn't it since both are Supervisor?

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
I spy Karasawa here. Looks exactly like that opening Kamehameha from #66:

I'm also interested in what he does. I suspect handling a lot of dialogue and some bits of action, perhaps?
He may well correct Tate. There's the opening shot on the NEP with upturned noses that seem Tate-esque, but the art appears cleaned-up by Karasawa.

I'm already seeing a lot of hate for the NEP.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
Yea man, people saying. He sucks, I could draw better than this, looks like ep.5 etc. I just feel bad whenever this happens.

I'm wondering where all the Naoki Tate hate is coming from. I know that the Faulconer "Running home from school for Toonami" boysSodhi wrote:Yea man, people saying. He sucks, I could draw better than this, looks like ep.5 etc. I just feel bad whenever this happens.
can be a bit retarded sometimes, but this is ridiculous. They were doing the same thing to episode 65. It's really unfair to Tate.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
Because they don't know how Japanese animation actually works. They don't understand the importance of composition, framing, effects, timing, and what have you. Naoki Tate is one of Toei's finest animators, because he understood the basic of drawing key animation. H'es a storyteller, not the fans.
They are not willing to understand that different can be a good thing.
