It's not sexist, moron.
You've made a completely wrong comparison to Multiverse, both #18 and #17 needed to be saved and Yamcha was far stronger than her anyway, he just chose to be kind to her.
Ignoring that, #18 is still far stronger than a Super Saiyan (of Vegeta, Trunks and Goku's level during the Androids saga), she could take most people at the damn tournament.
Think before you post

I doubt that. Ten years ago they are somewhat close to #19 and #20 power, which are definitely weaker than the Super Saiyans (during that time). Added more ten years and I won't be surprise if Freeza could take them down.

TonyTheTiger wrote:I love U9. I think it's one of the most interesting universes. But Yamcha being an android diminishes his worth...again. I was hoping it would be the universe in which Yamcha really managed to accomplish something on his own. Where his power was exclusively his. But if he's actually an android it sort of cheapens his accomplishments. Once again Yamcha wasn't good enough. He needed some kooky scientist to fiddle with him before he could hang with the big boys.
If Yamcha being a Cyborg cheapens the fight, then I guess Goku getting a massive zenkai between Ginyu and Freeza cheapens his fight with Freeza, too.
TonyTheTiger wrote:I'm not as disappointed with this result as I probably should be. Mostly because he's actually doing something heroic. Plus Krillin and Ten's dialogue is just

Tien's comment is the only thing that makes Yamcha surrendering not a horrible thing. In-jokes are awesome.
Well, that and the fact that Yamcha very well could become the hero of an entire universe out of this.
Maphisto86 wrote:Actually I liked it too as it shows how much of a class act Yamcha becomes since is "desert bandit" days (or in this case, "killer cyborg" days). It fits with what Yamcha was saying and while expected by now is still a good ending. It just sucks that we will probably not see what this version of Yamcha can do in a real battle. Then again he and the other heroes from the different universes may join the action if all hell breaks loose. Does any one else feel anxious to know who XXI is and whether he is a good main villian or not?
I've still got doubts that XXI is the final villain. Well, more like I'm holding out hope for I'K'L to be born and start kicking all kinds of ass.

Translation notes:
Krillin is missing a ", yes" at the end of his first sentence. I think the translator left it out because it reads just as awkwardly in French as it would in English.
Tenshinhan says "Decidedly... Yamcha is incapable of passing first round matches..." (Technically it reads "the first rounds," but said in the same context as we would say "preliminaries" or "preliminary matches" in English).
And I don't find Tenshinhan looks older, just frowning.

His eyebrows are not as black as they should be (I think), and his face has more lines than the ones required to show him frowning.

Anyone else see the parallel to Kame Senin's forfeit at the 22nd tournament against Tenshinhan? (note: I'm complimenting the author, this is always a nice turn. Not criticizing for a rip off.) Hopefully we'll see more from Universe 9's Yamcha.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I dunno. The ones around the mouth seem normal enough for me, while the forhead ones seem to go with the half-closed third eye. I'm eager for more from this Tenshinhan. Maybe he mastered the "superior kaioken" alluded to, but never used in the manga.

I've personally never been a fan of the zenkai thing, period. It's clearly a cheap plot device and not even a consistent one.
That being said, I don't think they're quite the same thing. At least a zenkai happens as a result of participating in a fight, even if it means getting your ass beat. It involves actually doing something and the result is a kind of innate ability to heal stronger than before. That's actually not too different from what happens when you lift weights. You damage the muscle and it rebuilds itself stronger. Yamcha becoming part machine is just an example of "He could never have done this without some external upgrade." It's more like taking steroids.
A better comparison would be to Gohan's "training" in the Buu saga. But even that was more or less just drawing out Gohan's inner potential, something that was already there. If instead of being an android Yamcha had gone through some kind of potential unlocking I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it. What matters to me is that once again it seems like Yamcha just plain didn't have enough potential so it was the roboticizer to the rescue.
But even so, I'm not so upset since we get to see Yamcha being a hero.

Zenkai is using a saiyan's own power. Making Yamcha a cyborg means he got a free powerup for no reason. As both Krillin and Tien are still stronger than him.
Simian upstart...none surpass me. No one even comes close! BURN THIS INTO YOUR MIND! I am emperor of the universe. The likes of you are only fit to grovel at my feet. Or better still...to be crushed...LIKE AN INSECT AT THE WHIM OF YOUR MASTER!

They're all in the same bracket in terms of strength, meaning they'll be able to train together and grow stronger.
The cyborg thing obviously ties into the altered history of that universe.

At this point, it kind of seems like you're just making an effort to look at it in a negative light.

No. Tenshinhan thinks he is now stronger than Yamcha but isn't sure though considering it is been ages since both fight. Krillin is surely much, much weaker.

This fight should not only be good but probably the best in the whole damn comic.

For those of you who might not have understood the reference:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Sue
A Mary Sue (sometimes just Sue), in fanfiction, is a fictional character with overly idealized and hackneyed mannerisms, lacking noteworthy flaws, and primarily functioning as a wish-fulfillment fantasy for the author or reader. Perhaps the single underlying feature of all characters described as "Mary Sues" is that they are too ostentatious for the audience's taste, or that the author seems to favor the character too highly. The author may seem to push how exceptional and wonderful the "Mary Sue" character is on his or her audience, sometimes leading the audience to dislike or even resent the character fairly quickly; such a character could be described as an "author's pet".
So, Salagir is once again being ironic and making fun of these kind of things with the help of universe 2 magic.

I just hope this doesn't mean she instantly wins every fight automatically.
Of course, Vegetto will need a challenge later on as he plows through the bracket.
Still, for this match I'll be rooting for Arale.

Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.
