I could see them treating Battle of Gods differently since, no actual 'canon' aside, Battle of Gods is the one that tried the hardest to be 'canon'. Not to mention that it's still the new hotness, since the second new movie isn't out yet.

Battle of Gods isn't a "traditional" movie though. It was written by Toriyama as if it were a continuation of the series, so they may be counting it as such here.

I thought they meant all movies in general,
and that the story would take place from the Saiyan saga to the Buu saga.

I guess now we will just have to wait and see what's really going on.

SSJG Goku is still absent. I wont be surprised if hes a separate character like SSJ4 if they go the extra mile to give him his own model and not just pallete swap Base Goku.

I'm surprised they didn't put god Goku with Beerus and Whis but instead just put plain ole ssj Goku.

I can see it happening, and not happening. We know attaining SSJG is nothing like SSJ1-3 but if they wanted, I guess they could easily use the mechanic ZBR uses for going SSJG. Honestly id prefer him as a separate character like SSJ4 Goku. If anything it would make SSJ4 VS SSJG much more easier to pull off.

They may be saving him for more BOG related info. Maybe something to do with the story mode with Towa and Mira preventing the ritual or possessing Beerus to destroy Earth so it cant happen.

SSJG Goku is slimmer than base Goku, so I don't think they'd just palette swap, but I can't be sure.

Also true. But we got the whole Goku absorbing SSJG shtick so making him a separate character could be done for the same reason Gogeta became a separate character in the Tenkaichi and RB games.

They were still treated as separate characters in the sense that you could choose to automatically start a battle in any of the forms you wanted, but they were connected in that you could transform/revert from any of them too (well, barring things like Freeza and Cell's transformations). It was only the first one that you flat out couldn't transform or revert at all in.

They also still treated transformations as separate characters in the playable character counts. I can still remember them advertising things like 'Over x number of characters!', and the only way the number would work was if you counted all the transformations separately.

I actually thought that was just a normal sized Namek, but when I look closer yeah that's a Giant Namek.
