Gohan wasn't even meant to be ultimate there. They compromised based on complaints, but still squeezed SSJ Gohan in.
After F, they probably don't give a shit.

If BOG will truly end up being rewritten I'll definitely will be feeling that EOZ will be changed... I don't know why I feel it, but the EOZ will retconned.
English is not my first language!
I'm still waiting for Dragon Ball in Super...

How does that make it irrelevant? It has been established in BoG and RoF that he is able to become Ultimate and SSJ, so him being SSJ in this series (if it happens) will not be a contradiction whatsoever.

I didn't say it was. I said that him turning SS when there's a better alternative available doesn't make sense.

They don't care about Gohan's "Ultimate" form.
They didn't care in GT.
They didn't care in the 2013 movie.
They didn't care in the 2015 movie, in which the script (written by the original author) goes out of its way to point out that they don't care.
I'm not entirely happy about it either, but it's nothing new. I'm very surprised that people keep getting surprised. Besides, it's just promotional artwork. Promotional artwork doesn't play the continuity game.
Also, that "100 episodes" thing has gotta be a placeholder. It's just gotta be. Ain't no way Toei had the foresight for something like that. Besides, that's just not how TV works. Ratings and merchandise sales will decide the episode count. That's not just something Toei can say.

They cared in Battle of Gods, they cared enough to change it and they cared enough in RF to tell the audience Gohan had been slacking off.

He has a great respectable stable job, a loving spouse and a cute child. I'd envy him.

You know. It certainly feels like that. They could tweak it well enough just by keeping Pan, Bra and Uub, but we meet him under other circumstances. I just want story progression and not getting stuck in this time frame.

Wow, Super promo art has been horrendous so far
I miss the artstyle they were using for promo art in the 90s:

I think Adult Gohan going SSj is done due to marketing reasons. His mystic form is hardly any different from his base form and I think having go SSj on posters and other merchandise makes him look cooler. It helps sell merchandise to the show or movie.

I like the fact that they have Gohan take the back seat. Him supposedly being the strongest yet he feels it's not necessary to fight unless needed, I think it'd be kind of cliche if they hadn't taken that route for Gohan. He's the legendary half Saiyan breed in my eyes. We still have Goten and Trunks to step up to the plate. That's enough for me.

Gohan isn't the strongest anymore. Gohan doesn't want to be the strongest and hasn't wanted to be the strongest ever. The character is perfectly happy living his normal life and doesn't need viewers clamoring for him to be the sort of character he isn't and the staff have no intention of him being.

not sure how Gohan is "over" he still can do stuff. Plus he has loving family and friends and achieved his life long goal of becoming a scholar and he's even 40 yet.

Gohan is cool through most the show.

while I'm very happy for gohan becoming his own man and living his life as he wants. I'm afraid the anime may pander to that popular demand of wanting gohan to be super strong just because. and totally forget the whole point of Gohan.

Yes, all of that is fine and true, but the staff do have the intention of humiliating him because he doesn't train. If the character doesn't want to train and doesn't want to fight, then make up some excuse and don't put him in fight scenes if you're just going to completely humiliate him and reduce him to nothing.

I'm pretty sure he
lost his ultimate state in RF, there's no spiky hair, there's no outlined eyes and he didn't train. That's why he goes SS in the first place... when he even doubted if he
could go Super Saiyan at all.

Why do some people act as though Gohan is a real life person? As a viewer of this show, which is about fighting, I could care less about his academic achievements and family. He could be single and underachieved, and it wouldn't change a thing. However, mess with his powers, and it does impact the significance of the character.
That's not me being selfish. He's not real!

Apologies for the confusion. I was only referring to Gohan's "I think I can still become a Super Saiyan" line.
I always interpreted that as Toriyama basically telling the audience "Hey, so, you know that vague thing I was doing with Gohan in the Buu arc where he didn't need to transform? I don't really feel like committing to that anymore."
The Toei staff never committed to it. It shouldn't surprise us anymore when Gohan goes gold.

Gohan is hardly humiliated. He walks through all of Freeza's men in
Fukkatsu no F like it is nothing.
Besides, this is a fiction character. Using him for jokes isn't exactly like hurting a real person.
