I don't know if that site is reliable, but, if the interview is true, it confirms a few interesting details:
In this game, the character does not level up. Instead, we’ll have a totally new system called “Z Point.” This is the point the player receives, and it tells player the number of items that the character can carry. If you get more Z Point, you’ll be able to carry more Z-Items so that the power of the character increases.
Yes. There will be a lot more fusion characters, and some of the fusion you can’t see in the original cartoon/ anime. Please enjoy!
We don't know a single new fusion, so the 5 unrevealed characters mostly will have to be fusions then...
Is it true that there will be three completely new characters that we've never seen before? If so, would you mind sharing any with us?

Actually there will be more than three!! For any additional new character reveals, please go visit
That answer is misleading. He could easily be talking about characters never seen before in a DBZ game, and not the 3 rumored meteor characters never seen in the anime.

Never-seen before fusions eh? Sounds exciting, and never-seen before characters... Like Neon Z, I wonder if it's original characters or never-been-in-a-game characters...
[quote="SSj Kaboom talking about Future Gohan in BT3"]I feel sorry for Future Gohan.

My votes on Cell+Krillin or Piccolo+Krillin!

I don't think Spike is too fond of joke characters, unlike Dimps. However, Piccolo+Kuririn could make it in because he was designed by Toriyama himself, even if it's just comic relief.

Besides, wouldn't they need Dimps' permission to use characters that they created, like Cell+Kuririn and Tiencha? I think the new fusions will be... new.

I also hope they give fusions to characters who actually need transformations/power ups.

I'd greatly enjoy Piccolo+Krillin, but you're right about Cell+Krillin.
Besides, I really don't see what a Cell+Krillin could bring to the game, it's not as if it would give him any new moves...it'd be a wasted space really, unless you're really in to joke characters.

Well who do you think needs a transformation/powerup? None come to mind at the moment so I'm going to give it some thought

Characters who need transformations/power ups, IMO:

-Kuririn, Yamcha, Tenshinhan and (to a lesser extent) Piccolo. Most of the non-Saiyans who continued fighting in DBZ. The main problem is that both Kuririn and Yamcha had settled down in the Buu Saga.
Dimps even used Cell Saga Yamcha for the Tiencha fusion, in spite of it not making any sense, because he was shown fusing with Buu Saga Tenshinhan.

-Pan and Uub. Not with each other, I just mean that they both could use a fusion, though I don't see who would be proper partners for them. Uub could fuse with Gohan, I suppose, but it'd be weird because they have nearly no interaction in the series.

-Early villains, like Freeza and Cell (even though they already have more than enough forms). If they're going to have the anime storylines which show Freeza and Cell hanging around in hell, it'd make sense too, and could put them on par with GT villains like Super 17 and Baby.

I want Gokule and Tiencha back. >> Gokule more than Tiencha, but both would rock. A Vegeta+Future Trunks fusion would be cool too, of course. As would a Goku+Gohan fusion. Piccolo+Pikkon just because.

Gokule could come back, as he isn't a Dimps creation, but I really doubt Tiencha will appear... Though they could make a different design for a Tenshinhan/Yamcha fusion, I suppose.

I wouldn't mind having the Future Trunks SSJ2 back from the Budokai series, as for Pan and any Saiyan (probably excluding Tullece), I would like a SSJ what if transformation, but I'm not sure if that would go down well.

I agree with Piccolo, I always thought he should have just a bit more of a boost Super Namek style, make him a bit bulkier, and have the veins on his head and what not...

As for Uub, he kinda already has his powerup. Oh, and bring back Majin Cell and Frieza!

I agree we need some more What-if transformations and forms. We're getting unseen-in-the-series Oozarus left and right, so why not give us things like SSj Pan, 5th-form Freeza, base Gogeta, and the like?

Would that really be a problem? I mean, both Dimps and Spike work for Bandai Namco, here, so...?
(the problem I could see is that Tenshinhan's voice actor died... and I'm not sure recycling his work for Dragon Ball Z 2 would do the trick, here)

I'd want an SS2 Mirai Trunks, and a Mirai Trunks + Gohan (regular timeline) fusion.

Back on-topic: I'm not sure whether or not I'd like "three original characters." On the one hand that would be really cool, on the other there's still several interesting guys who haven't made it in yet.

Not three.
Myto answers there are more than three:

Actually there will be more than three!! For any additional new character reveals, please go visit www.atari.com
At any rate, I supose both talk in general words.
The intervewer cannot know how many characters have been shown.

But it's only my opinion.

I don't think it's that simple... the bgms in the American version of BT1 are the only reused asset from the Budokai series in the Tenkaichi series. I'm sure if they could just freely reuse assets from the past series they'd have done so to include more content in the first BT.

Spike has re-used everythng Dimps did in the Budokai games (though usally in a more crappy way) from the Password System to the new teleport counters and sonic sway.

They're reusing 'ideas', but they all get their own little names and are presented as new things. They are, after all, additions to a completely different engine, even if based on what B3 did.

However, the assets that I was talking about are animations, cutscenes, 3d models, textures, etc. They scrapped everything from Budokai for Tenkaichi 1, but I don't see why they'd have done that if they could just reuse Budokai's, especially the textures and 3d models of the characters. If they could just reuse those, they wouldn't go out of their way to make new ones for everyone.

As I've said, they can include a Tenshinhan/Yamcha dance fusion, but it won't look exactly like Budokai 2's "Tiencha".
Though I retract my previous statement, he could still be called Tiencha, as that name probably was chosen by whoever was localizing the game.
