Its false to make assumptions like that. I know all that and I think these are perfect.
Edit: There is also no way to prove these folks are 'ignorant'. I believe it's just a pathetic excuse 'purists' use to justify how well these are selling.

Which isn't the correct aspect ratio, causing lots of lost footage and horrible framing. Plus, on these sets, FUNimation incorporated terrible panning which is incredibly jarring to see in motion:

Which makes the picture look very smeared and oily, and doesn't resemble it's cel and film origins any longer. Kai handled the noise reduction much better.

There are many proportional and compositional issues with the artwork. The poses are awkward, and the style is overly rounded and bubbly looking.

This is the only legitimate positive of these releases to me. They actually went all out with the extras. They should have done this for the Orange Bricks. :(

While I don't agree this release is perfect but I do like it a-lot. also I'm curious what I'm suppose to be looking for with the above image of Goku? they both look the exact same to me?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Camera is shaking in the Bluray shot, looks very unsteady. However, I kinda like that effect although it's unintentional.

You can believe anything you want to believe, which is fine, but that's not the intended version of Dragon Ball Z. I simply cannot understand why you think having animation chopped off is considered "perfect". It doesn't make any fucking sense to me.

On the Blu-ray shot, the camera is slowly panning before Goku lifts his head (you can even see it jumps for a few frames too, which isn't from the loop), and when he does lift his head, it actually pulls down on the Blu-ray footage. You can tell when you don't focus on either and stare at both of them. They're timed exactly with each other, and you can tell that the image on the right doesn't pan up as high as the original footage. I still don't know why FUNimation thought it'd be a good idea to make it pan down in that shot, because you lose more footage at the top that way. Plus, as mentioned before, the rocks move awkwardly with the panning on the Blu-ray shot.

Before I compared them I could see the camera moving around in that shot. It makes me feel motion sickness.

I keep looking at it and I don't see anything odd LOL I'm sorry guys  You guys just know something I don't is all haha

Edit - After looking at it for a long time! Haha I noticed that the rocks like shift to right then back to the left? something I definitely wouldn't have noticed had I not sat here and tried to look for something like that. I'm not going to knock a point off this release because of that.

If I have to look that incredibly closely to understand what you're trying to get me to see, then what I'm effectively doing is trying as hard as possible to not enjoy the release.

Yes, it's got its problems, but I've gotten so picky about DBZ releases over the years that I see "major" issues in pretty much every release now. As inexpensive as I'm getting these for, I'm going to enjoy them for what they are and move on with my life. Anything else would be me just never allowing myself to enjoy Dragonball.

That's true for me too.

I noticed it the first time I saw it, and other weird panning in that scene. But hey, if you don't see it or if it doesn't bother you, more power to ya!

While I do like these sets more than I thought I was going to, some people love them and some don't. :)

A lot of people on here are picky about DBZ releases. After seeing clips of the new blu ray on my TV it doesn't look as bad as people say it is. Funimation just have to stop making the colors so damn bright.

I couldn't have said it better myself  I'm actually happy that these sets will be the way I watch the series for a while unless I want to treat myself to a treat and pop in the Dragon-boxes. :)

I can tolerate flaws that naturally occur like film jitter, scratches and faded colors, but I can't overlook this kind of by-effects produced by artificial filters. To me, they stick out like a sore thumb even if they're so minimal. It's the same as unnecessary cropping.

I choose to be nitpicky rather than ignorant. Also, pointing them out is a lot more meaningful than just throwing in "I love this lol" kind of posts.

I'm not gonna pick on anyone who has higher standards than I do. Also, I think that my being happy with how the Full Color Manga has turned out so far has really dulled any harshness I might have toward this release.

I'm sorry if that post sounded like it was aimed at you (wasn't aimed an anyone really ^^) I've been thinking about the full colors but I am worried about the binding because every copy I looked at, at the store, felt like pages were gonna come out
