Now I see why it was brought up again in the manga.

Whis too, since even him isn't there yet.

I think Whis did master it.

Remember in RoF when he steps in poo while explaining the technique to Goku and Vegeta? He hand waves it as his body moving on his own, but his shoes not being able to. This pretty much implies even he hasn't mastered it.

Observation Haki isn't so much moving without thinking as it is predicting your opponent.

In terms of skill, I'd say power is still questionable.

I like the idea that Goku is actually more skilled fighter than Beerus rather than it being a straight up power thing.
What I don't want to see is this ability magically giving him the power to KO Beerus in one hit or fire off equivalent ki blast...

Keep the power gap small which Beerus having an edge but let Goku have far superior mastery and skill to compensate so he can at least dodge attacks.

I cant wait for Beerus' reaction after watching Goku surpass him in something he has yet to master, that has got to be one huge smack to his face, he who has lived for eons couldnt master that technique then a mortal who's lived like baby years to him suddenly reaches such level, the salt will be amazing and its about damn time too, this'll be sweeter if it happens in the manga, dude got pissed when oracle fish told him Goku and Vegeta will be a rival worthy of him.

No they aren't surpassing Beerus fast enough especially when Rageta made Beerus use 10% of Beerus power...
The longer this goes on the more apparent no one gave two $h*ts at all about the show, planning, or putting together a consistent and coherent story.
We have SSBxKKx20 about to go up against a mortal and LOSE. Yet we're supposed to believe SSG was such hot $h*t to Beerus that he literally lost sleep over it, but Rageta still somehow made him use 10% of his power.
The sooner this moving Beerus goal post is overtaken the better.

I think the skill definitely would out weigh it, but I also don't want a brute strength match up either that doesn't make sense because he has some random ability.
i.e. Roshi using the demon containment wave on a much more powerful enemy makes sense because he is old, wise, and skilled.
Roshi, half dead after using a technique which severally drains his life form to the point of dying, manages to use it multiple times in succession, nearly dies, but as an old man, still manages to recover after a few moments even in the midst of a 48 minute battle royal, and so much so that he is able to physically take on an opponent who should be FAAARRR stronger and not get completely decimated. No amount of wisdom and skill should be able to close a gap like that.

Basically "skill" has to be properly implemented and not used as a throw away to explain every single nonsensical scenario the way that "power" is currently use. We already have one throwaway BS concept to explain everything. We don't need another.

So is it really a "new" form or is it just him being able to do that in his base form ? meaning he could do it better in Blue ?

We knew he and Vegeta would eventually be able to do this so what surprises me is how soon Goku's doing it. I thought we'd have to wait a few arcs more.

Maybe it'll seem like that at first but later it'll be shown that Whis gave him some kind of Ki to help him out.

If Beerus was at full power he could still beat SSG. He was just excited to use some of his power. So no I don't think Goku should already be surpassing Beerus. There comes a point when the characters are already way to powerful then what?

Of course unfortunately we already crossed that bridge a long time ago that is why power levels are so inconsistent now and why in truth I could care less about them or who is stronger than who any more. There is no emotion or meaning behind it any more. I would just like the characters to struggle a bit more.

this is even better than a standard form. it's also not simply intuition or instincts. Being able to move without thinking is being made into an actual technique. a heightened state of being. that's crazy. wonder how it'll have an effect on Goku's strength, speed, etc.

An aura or look doesn't equal god ki. People thought Golden Freeza was a god form because of its aura and how it looks, but it isn't. Even the previews more or less said that the ki coming from Goku is different.
