Tough call. I assume they're similar in power, but Recoome is a freakin' tank. It'll all come down to whether or not Nail's attack can overcome Recoome's defense.RandomGuy96 wrote:Recoome vs Nail.

Personally, I think Recoome might be around the 50,000 mark. So he'd defeat Nail without too much difficulty.RandomGuy96 wrote:Recoome vs Nail.

Considering Recoome got the tar beat out of him, I would imagine his power level is 35,000-40,000. Nail's is 42,000 so I give this one to Nail.

Always saw Reacoom around 45,000 or so, which puts him a bit stronger than Nail. Still, I think it'd be a close fight. Could go either way.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
I don't think Recoome being 50,000 would be an insta-win for him. Nail would still put up a really good fight at least.
Anyway Nail is at 42,000. I always saw Recoome at 45,000, since he demolished someone at 30,000 and yet, according to Ginyu, would be no match for someone at 60,000 even with Burter helping. Nail proved to be uber-durable during that fight with Freeza (okay, Freeza was clearly toying with him, but you still have got to give him props for surviving so much) and has those weird Namek powers like regeneration and stretchy arms... so it's a tough call, since I don't remember either of them being particularly skilled or showing unique or impressive techniques like the Kamehameha or Destructo Disk.
Oh and by the way, for the purposes of versus debates, do video games count at all if they don't contradict the manga or anime and make sense? Cause the character reference in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 says that in his basic form Cooler's power is very similar to Frieza's final form (I assume they mean the 70% final form, not the bulked up 100%), meaning that in his fifth form he's at least way over 168 million, given his utter pwning of a guy he had previously been fighting evenly with despite that guy doubling his power with the kaio-ken. This matches up with the comments characters make in that movie, particularly when Cooler basically says that anyone who can fight evenly with that form can kill Freeza.

I don't think Video Games should count but I do agree that the Nail could beat Recoome, Jeice, and Burter if he was fighting them one on one. If Jeice and Burter both took Nail on, Nail would be screwed.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
I believe that if there is something new in a video game, it should be mentioned just in case.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

He DOES have a scouter, so he should know how strong Nail is. Unless Nail can suppress his power, shoot the scouter, and take Reccoome by surprise with his power.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Yeah, I think Nail can take Recoome... especially since they seem to be on a similar level but he can regenerate and Recoome can't. If they both lose an arm, Recoome's is gone for good; Nail just pops it back after a few minutes. Plus he's probably got better control over his ki (the Namekian warriors seem to be able to suppress their ki and then flare it up to maximum when it's time to attack, so he could catch Recoome off guard and hurt him pretty bad with his first attack if he was relying too much on his scouter when Nail showed up), stretchy-arms, etc...
I don't think he'd be able to beat Jeice or Burter, though... definitely not both of them at once. I've always seen those two as being a little stronger than Recoome (power-level-wise) individually, though each of them's strength is more focused in a different area (Burter's speed, Jeice's ki blasts, Recoome's physical strength/durability.) I know Krillin says that they're both "at least as strong" as Recoome in Kai, which points toward them both possibly being even stronger than him but still in the same general range... though I'm not sure if this line is in the Japanese version or is worded differently there.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Regeneration isn't really as useful as people claim it is. Losing limbs doesn't really happen that often in fights, and it uses up ki to regenerate them anyway. So much so that Piccolo opted not to regenerate his arm until after the battle with Raditz was over.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
How about this: if Vegeta actually did become a Super Saiyan on Namek, would he beat Frieza?
I say no. One, Vegeta is an idiot who'd let Frieza go to 100%. Two, Vegeta was absolutely stunned by base Goku's power, meaning he can't be close to him. Three, Frieza seems really surprised that Goku survived the Nova Strike despite knowing Goku was stronger than him, meaning Frieza at least knows that the attack can kill a fighter around 120 million, and I don't think Vegeta was quite at 2.4 million in the Namek saga. Fourth, those telekinetically guided destructo disks are deadly.
Fifth, it would just be really funny.
King Kai: "The Prince of Saiyans has become a Super Saiyan! The first in a thousand years! He has finally fulfilled his- oh wait Frieza still beat him."
Then Frieza brags about already killing one Super Saiyan when Goku shows up.
So, what do you guys think? How strong was Vegeta? Would Super Saiyan put him far enough over 120 million to beat Frieza?

Vegeta would kill Freeza easily. Goku was toying with him, and the Kienzan has never amounted to anything.
I'm not sure he'd even let Freeza get to 100%, because he hates Freeza far too much.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Goku clearly wasn't toying with him, but he was handily winning and dodged the disc... I really wonder why no one ever used an attack like that again, it was awesome.
Anyway, you're assuming that Vegeta's base was the same as Goku's. Why are you placing him so insanely high? Super Saiyan is only a x50 multiplier... didn't Vegeta utterly trounce him with 2% of his power, and wasn't Vegeta utterly shocked at the power of base Goku at 3 million? Then didn't base Goku proceed to survive a whole barrage of beams, one of which killed Vegeta?
Of course he'd let Frieza go to 100%. To do anything else would be waaaaaay out of character for him. He'd probably want Frieza to be scared and feel worthless before he dies. But then he'd be surprised when Frieza beat him up. You know. Like always.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Goku was definitely toying with him. Apart from being hit by Freeza's "nova strike" he didn't have any difficulty at all. And the reason nobody used the Telekinesis-Kienzan again is because it doesn't get results.
No, I'm not assuming Vegeta was at Goku's base. I never said anything like that. Just that Vegeta would be stronger than Freeza.
And no, it wouldn't be OOC for Vegeta to kill Freeza before he reached 100%. It's a different situation to when he let Cell become stronger because he was bored of him.
Either way, he'd still win. I do have to wonder why you'd even bother asking that question when it's clear that you've made up your own mind on it, though.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
It's a one hit kill, and the main weakness is that it's slow to charge and can't be guided... Frieza's version doesn't seem to have either of those flaws... anyway Goku, while he was winning, wasn't winning effortlessly. Frieza got a few good hits on them due to the gap between them only being 20%, and Goku clearly wasn't screwing around, given that his face is contorted in rage, he yells "die" all the time, and seems shocked the few times Frieza hits him...
I make up my mind on most of these before I ask them. I just want to: A. hear other people's opinions and B. see if they bring information I hadn't considered before so it can change my opinion.
Anyway, where are you getting that Vegeta is over 2.4 million? The gap between him and base Goku was implied to be massive. He'd need to be at least over 2.4 million in order to beat Frieza, and him being that close to base Goku seems unlikely.
Okay, if you're going to insist that Vegeta wouldn't let Frieza go 100% even though that goes against every aspect of his character, just assume that I said "Vegeta on Namek (Super Saiyan) vs 100% Frieza".

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
My PL list is something like:
Piccolo: 1,400,000
Freeza second form: 1,200,000
+First power up: 1,350,000
+second power up: 1,500,000
+third form: 2,250,000
Vegeta: 2,500,000
I think Vegeta would be stronger than third form Freeza or no-one would expect anything out of him. And Goku didn't do that well against Freeza in base, he deflected a bunch of the same attack that Vegeta could track and save Gohan from.

No, it doesn't go against every aspect of his character. That insistence of yours is really annoying. As I already said, it's not the same situation, and to call it every aspect of his character is just a gross exaggeration. Besides, you seemed to miss me saying that "either way, he'd win".Okay, if you're going to insist that Vegeta wouldn't let Freeza go 100% even though that goes against every aspect of his character, just assume that I said "Vegeta on Namek (Super Saiyan) vs 100% Freeza".

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
I think they'd be very closely matched in power. I normally peg Vegeta at somewhere between 2 and 2.5 million (by mostly the same approach and gap-forming logic as Saiga there), which is a bigger gap between him and Goku at 3 million than it might seem. Multiply that by about 50, and Vegeta will end up either exactly even with or only slightly inferior to Freeza's 100% power of 120 million.
That alone would probably mean Vegeta would ultimately win, as ruthless and tenacious in battle as he is. But once Freeza's stamina and power start to drain away, then Vegeta's got it in the bag for sure.

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Wait, your Vegeta is at 2.5 million? Meaning 125 million at Super Saiyan? But you said
120 million vs 125 million isn't "win easily" territory, those power levels are near-identical. That's an extremely close fight that can go either way, depending on who gets lucky.Vegeta would kill Freeza easily.
I have Vegeta in the Namek saga at about 2.1 million, so in my opinion Frieza would finish him off before he lost stamina... barley. Assuming Vegeta is at your levels, and even to Frieza... I don't know. Both could kill each other quite quickly with a good hit. I guess Vegeta would have the advantage in stamina, but Frieza has some pretty beastly techniques. That alone would probably mean Vegeta would ultimately win, as ruthless and tenacious in battle as he is. But once Freeza's stamina and power start to drain away, then Vegeta's got it in the bag for sure.

All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
I think he'd win easily because of the drawbacks of Freeza's 100% form. With Vegeta being slightly superior in strength, Freeza has no chance of finishing him before the use of his own power exhausts him.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
