Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
A new one every two years?! I don't know if I have enough faith in Toei to pull that off. It'd be nice, but I think we're in for just one more, max. Trilogy and all that. Also would Toriyama get tired again?

Yeah, wrap up the trilogy and then, Mr. Toriyama can build some good pillar for a new series that TOEI can build on with him as a supervisor, happening after the End of Z.

I don't see a new series happen with Toriyama as the writer. I think movies are easier for Toriyama and we are likely to get new movies once every two years as long they are making money, and Toriyama is still up for new ideas. If we get a new TV series then I can see it being a toyetic series to promote new toys and cards for Bandai.

That's exactly what I don't wanna see after the clusterf**k Saint Seiya Omega was and I am really afraid of what will turn out from Saint Seiya Soul Of Gold - where TOEI finally understood, that having the character design same as in the original series matters and nobody cares about thought up characters not part of the manga. The story won't be canonically good, as it isn't always in case of TOEI. Only way I can be sure, that something not adapted from original material will be good, is to have creative and supervising input of the original creator.Hellspawn28 wrote:I don't see a new series happen with Toriyama as the writer. I would want another series to happen after GT following Goku JR. I've seen the main characters go through so much that I don't feel as much when I seem them go through new stuff. I need new characters in the same universe.

I'm just the opposite. Nothing leaves me feeling more indifferent to a franchise than replacing the main cast. Replace the cast, it's no more than someone's fanfic characters to me at that point, and I cease to care.
Only exception I have for it atm is Precure, but that reboots the entire universe each year.
I'd rather do the odd db/z movie with the current cast every few years or so like we are now.

I don't really understand this. It's no different than Battle of Gods introducing Beerus and Whis, who I didn't really like when that first poster was revealed. I came to love them as characters though, and it's not because of their interactions with the main cast (even if they were enjoyable). I was really liking their interactions with each other at the start of the movie and honestly wouldn't have minded that much if Goku and the gang never showed up.Chuquita wrote:I'm just the opposite. I mean, if a sequel series simiar to DBO were to happen without the old characters, of course I wouldn't care about the new cast as much as I would the originals at first. How is it any different than picking up a new show in general or when you first got into Dragon Ball though? You have to give them a chance to get to know them.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Beerus and Whis didn't replace anyone though. I like them pretty well. I've got nothing against them.
This isn't just a db/z thing for me. I've never liked entire cast replacements. I just don't.
To get back on topic, any guesses on when we'll see Trunks and Goten?

As of now, I fear either in a random flashback or not at all.Chuquita wrote:Beerus and Whis didn't replace anyone though. I like them pretty well. I've got nothing against them.

So like Vegeta's absence in movie 10?
I want to see the both of them. They've got to look older by now.

Maybe they get killed at the beginning of the movie, that would certainly create a sense of despair.

Perhaps they're being left out so they don't have to mess around with new designs/growth disputes

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I def like the idea of a movie trilogy, but I would hate a new series/arc taking place after Z. It's done. GT did it, it failed, and it's over. Let it rest. I (as well as Toriyama) don't want to see a series or arc where everyone is old and ridiculously overpowered. New characters like Uub and Pan will inevitably be overshadowed by Goku and co, and have little character development. If they get too much screen time, fans will complain, and the show will suffer. That is, unless Uub and Pan got their own spin-off series taking place in another planet, universe, or time period due to some random occurrence that brings them there, which is something I'm totally for, as it can serve as a clean reset with familiar characters (i.e. I envision Uub and Pan being weak, despite all this speculation that they are Kid Buu or SSJ level).
Also, now that we know there are 12 universes, why not a new series with a new set of characters? Why do these universes have to involve the same characters we know? These aren't planets we're talking about; they're universes. We could have something brand new that doesn't even need to share the Dragon Ball name, but can borrow the elements we grew to love.
That's just me. =P

"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I don't think a new series with a completely different cast would work, it just wouldn't be Dragon Ball without Goku. To make a new series work, they need to find someway to depower Goku and Vegeta... maybe they could reveal that the 7th universe is the weakest, and in other universes Goku and Vegeta are small fries...and maybe Whis could send them on a mission to another universe, but there is an incredibly powerful universe patrol force that is tasked with keeping people from crossing over universes, and so they have to deal with being chased by them the whole time.fadeddreams5 wrote:I def like the idea of a movie trilogy, but I would hate a new series/arc taking place after Z. I'd be happy with a simultaneous, limited showing of the Japanese version subbed, followed by a dubbed version later. Could potentially lead to higher profits too, if people go to see the subbed version just to see it quickly, then return for the dubbed version to watch it in their own language with the voices the love.

I think it's too late for that. They should have done that in 1997 - 2004 when they had the chance.Tatakae!!Ramenman wrote:I would want another series to happen after GT following Goku JR.
