The problem with the Viz Bigs is they are censored, these 3-in-1's are mostly uncut but the quality is pretty poor (that being said I'm buying these releases because they're cheap and in my price range)eledoremassis02 wrote:I really dont know why they chose these covers unless thats all they had?? I dont know lol.
Guess they thought the Viz Bigs are good enough (not that they are a bad release)?
Can't wait for the next 3-in-1 to get released. I rented up to Vol. 16 at the library but I wanna read it again lol.

Oh yea, I forgot about the censoring lol.
Imagine if the 3-in-1s has color pages!

The Vizbigs already have very little censorship. Its true that these have even less but, honestly, considering that they still have censorship, I don't see anyone being that excited for them having a little less censorship when the Vizbigs already have very little censorship. I could see it if they were 100% uncensored, but they are not, and they are inferior to the Vizbigs in every other way, so...

Really? I coulda sworn the VizBigs had more censorship, I remember reading that Damn got changed to Darn ect. Though more likely than not my memory is just foggy.rereboy wrote:thomas1up wrote: The problem with the Viz Bigs is they are censored, these 3-in-1's are mostly uncut but the quality is pretty poor (that being said I'm buying these releases because they're cheap and in my price range)

In that case I'd recommend the VizBigs to anyone but the 3-in-1's are cheaper and I don't have much money.

You misunderstood what I said. The Vizbigs do have more censorship, but their censorship is already very little to begin with. Anyone who is fine with a release that has little censorship should already be fine with the Vizbigs, and I don't think they will feel that the 3-in-1 are significantly better because they aren't uncensored, they still have censorship.thomas1up wrote:Really? So, in short, this release doesn't satisfy the fans that want a uncensored release, and the fans that are fine with a release with slight censorship should already be satisfied with the VIzbigs. So, this release ends up not really satisfying anyone, except the ones who want the cheapest release.

That's what 3-in-1's have pretty much always been, a cheap, low quality release, I don't have much money so these work out for me.rereboy wrote:You misunderstood what I said. Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
I like the 3-in-1s because they are a few buck cheaper and because they are a smaller and easyer to hold when reading. Just pre-ordered the next volume. I do wish the paper was a tad thicker but for reading it every once in a while it's not bad.

Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
I prefer the 3-in-1s for the same reasons. I'll probably pick them all up at one point.eledoremassis02 wrote:I like the 3-in-1s because they are a few buck cheaper and because they are a smaller and easier to hold when reading. Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
Just got the new release, of anyone has any questions about quality or "uncutness" let me know

It's cool/weird seeing volume 1 of Z start with the end of the world martial arts tournament
And for those who are wondering, this is how the transition looks

The little Goku returns on the top of the pages to guide you when the "Z" portion begins *about little more than 1/2 way through the volume* (this has been missing since the 1st or 2nd 3-in-1 volume).
All editors notes about things mentioned in dragon ball are also present..which is a little odd.

...Wait... So they... made a TL note about how previously they have been dividing the manga into "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Z" but aren't here... instead of simply removing that reference alltogether? That's just very, very silly.

They did the same thing with the Full Colors. Even though they were released under the proper Dragon Ball, not Z, title, those references to the series being split were still there. I like how they continued the chapter numbering with 195 though. I wouldn't have been surprised if they had just left it as DBZ 1.Vegard Aune wrote:...Wait... That level of unprofessional laziness pisses me off so damn much. How the hell can they not get rid of that stupid stuff? Why would it be a good idea to have that HALF WAY THROUGH A BOOK. I can't even think properly. This is absolutely mind boggling.

Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
I think they are re-printed existing volumes (which is why Vol. 1 was accidentally censored) and will probably remain that way until the censoring gets heavy (if they remember).
The quality also jump a lot when you hit Z and I dont remember the transition being as obvious. And in this Volume, the color pages quality reminds me of the single volumes whereas other color pages are higher quality in the other volumes. But's it's possible it's more of, they have some color pages but not others so the image quality fluctuates.
(was this colored in the Vizbigs?

Another color pannel from later on.

Will the 3 in 1s cover the 'Z' volumes? Even with that lazy unedited TL note, I hope they print them, but still under the 'Dragon Ball' moniker as opposed to 'Dragon Ball Z'.

Yup thats what they are doing now (and a big reason why i'm getting them). The latest volume is Dragon Ball and Z *about 1/2 way through*Weejus wrote:Will the 3 in 1s cover the 'Z' volumes? This is the next volumes cover, also under the Dragon Ball name

Thank you! My brother already bought all of the 'Z' volumes but I guess I'll get all of the 3 in 1s anyway.

I had a few volumes here and there of previous volumes but this my first time getting them all. Do be aware that there might be a few problemsWeejus wrote:Thank you! My brother already bought all of the 'Z' volumes but I guess I'll get all of the 3 in 1s anyway.
Volume 1 is not uncut (they printed the censored version by accident but plan to fix this in re-prints)
Some volumes I have gotten had ink splatters on a few pages. If your buying in store check it before you buy just in case)
Paper is thin, but I havent had any big problems with it
Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
That's why I decided to keep the individual volumes 1 and 2 I already had prior to the 3 in 1s coming out, because I got lucky in that they were uncensored.eledoremassis02 wrote:I had a few volumes here and there of previous volumes but this my first time getting them all. One thing I do like about these is that they use the Kanzenban covers (even if they aren't using all of them.) Too bad it isn't the Kanzenban pages in between those nice covers.
